I got passport photos taken at the booth across from immigration. They were good enough for Thai Immigration and I scanned them onto a memory stick.
However, when I tried to submit one to UK Passport Office with the intention to renew a passport, it was rejected as "not sufficient quality". It was within the required parameters.
I now need to find a photographic shop in the Chiangmai area which will produce acceptable quality photos that I can use.
I prefer somewhere on the south side especially Hang Dong Sanpatong area. Thank you.

Ban Tawai was always overpriced. You are better going to Phrae where there are shops selling the furniture made in the backshop.

Why the extra 2 days should be 13 to 15th like every year. So lets have it all at the Temples where it all started from.
16th and 17th are Saturday and Sunday.

By co-incidence, I spoke to a German friend at the weekend. He is departing to Frankfurt on Saturday and assured me that as long as you are fully vaccinated no test nor quarantine is needed.

My fault. I performed a rainmaking ceremony. I watered my sister-in -laws' flowers and vegetables on Friday evening.

This is designed to put money in the pockets of a few large hotel owners.

I do not know which district you live in, so cannot point you at a specific shop. Not far from me is a shop making bamboo furniture and othet artifacts. I got them to make me a 5m ladder so that I could reach some coconuts . The cost was about 1200 Baht.

You do not say whether you live in a village or town. I live in a village and had pipes laid to carry the water course beside the house thus covering it over. Forbye we have a couple of village ladies who patrol after every rainfall and report to the Ampeu who if. necessary, send a team to spray any persistent standing water. Speak to your Paw Luang about that.
Additional thought , put some frogs in the klong , they love mosquitoes.

This is totally frivolous. I thought of putting it in the Pub Forum but cannot find it.
Just before Christmas my daughter saw some of my underpants on the washing line and commented that they were getting tatty. So. she bought me some new ones for Christmas. They are an american brand to replace my old Marks and Spencer's. Although the labels say that they are all the same size the americans are slightly smaller.
Do Scotsmen have bigger <deleted> than the Yanks?

Rain
in Chiang Mai
Hurray, a full hour's moderate rain in Sanpatong with some heavy bursts tonight. That should reduce the haze a bit.
It has become very hot suddenly (max 31C last Monday , 38C today) and the dust haze has just as suddenly increased. Hurray again.

It already has. Brent crude is $110 per barrel today.

Many years ago, I travelled by bus from Don Muang to Chiang mai an eight hour trip. On arrival , I was horrified to see the driver gulp down a few pills, turn the bus round, load up again and set off back to Bangkok!

How long ago did it fall over ??
Maybe leave the bananas attached, the tree won't die immediately, so that would give them a chance to mature a bit more, we've had green bananas and left them for a few days to ripen.
Two days ago, but it was causing an obstruction and has already been cut up and cleared, although I took care to keep the fruit.

One of my banana trees has fallen over and died. Unfortunately, it had a large number of almost fully formed fruit on it. Sister-in law reckon they were about three weeks from ripening. Sensible suggestions please on cooking or doing something useful with them. I am loath to waste them.
Moderators, if you find a cooking forum or more appropriate one please move.

Good intentions, but I fear they will fall on deaf ears

I could never get the old system to work.
Back in December , when the new system was up and running, I registered and almost immediately received a password. It puzzled me because it contained an asterisk and an exclamation mark. However, I saved it and when my report came due I copied and pasted it into the correct slot. It came up "incorrect data", but offered me "Forget Password?" Used that, received an EMail immediately offering a "reset Password", which I used, carefully using letters and numbers only. That worked and I received an acknowledgement within seconds
Two days later an EMail came through with an attachment allowing me to print off a proper receipt. The system worked this time.
