So anyway, what are the seemingly unspoken rules of Thaivisa forum you can think of?
Must be at least 60 years old,
Must have at least 2 failed marriages to western women as a bare minimum,
Must have been ripped off for a house and pension by said farang women,
No Thai language skills required,
Must have a, if the locals want to talk to me they should learn English mentality,
Must wear black calf length socks, preferably with sandals.
Must drink chang beer,
Even better, you dont need to live here but know everything about the place, you learned this from your teelak from Booleelam and the other jaded farang misfits in the Hansum man bar.
I wear socks with sandals to prevent sunburn, I am very light skinned.

I think we become more aware of our own faults and are are unable to justify other peoples faults without hypocrasy

I have met several Thais (note correct plural) studying at Universities in Glasgow and Edinburgh. I am dumbfounded by their complete lack of knowledge pf history and geography. Hitler and Nazi Germany are only names to them. Also, Thais love a uniform and Nazi Germany had a lot of spectacular ones.
Corrected version.

I am not sure if there is the same in England. In Scotland there is such a thing as an "Attendance Allowance", which is paid directly to the infirm. There are two levels depending on the amount of infirmity and it is not counted for Income Tax. Access is through the local Social Work department.

Thanks to all who replied. I can see the way now.
Incidentally, the Thai Embassy in London would require me to present myself with wife and 2 witnesses in person at their office. London is 400+ miles away.

I need clarification.
I am a Scot, at present resident in Scotland. My Chiangmai wife of 30 years and I were married in Scotland, and have always used our Scottish marriage certificate for any legal purposes. We have never needed a Thai certificate.
We intend to retire to Chiangmai next year. The Thai consulate in Glasgow will issue a non-imm O visa using our Scottish marriage certificate and I intend to apply to the appropriate Immigration Office for an extention based on marriage to a Thai citizen and renew that yearly, I can fulfill the financial requirement(s) easily. So far so good.
However, I am unsure whether my Scottish marriage certificate, with translation of course, will be accepted for the extension at an Immigration office in Thailand. Should it not be, can I obtain a certificate based in my existing marriage at my wife's home ampeu? Thank you.

An old trick I learnt may years ago while trialing, is to wrap plastic insulating tape round it several times. I has the advantage that it will not slip.

I think it is all down to education. Very little geography is taught in Thai schools(see recent post on map reading and navigation skills). My wife of 30 years still cannot tell the difference between 2 Europeans nor between European and North American. We All look and act the same to her. All dark skinned people are " negro" to her, and Arab and "Kek" are mutually indistinguishabl.e

Most africans and orientals lose the ability to digest milk soon after weaning. Many charities in famine stricken areas found that milk based food were ineffective. The Thai government is being very short-sighted.
Who has a stake in a milk vending enterprise?
Airmiss!

You probably saw an illusion. Although you were looking at right angles to the aircraft's vertical plane, the aircraft, in a turn can be banked at up to 25 deg. to the actual vertical and your line of sight is also tilted. The other aircraft was probably well above or below you. Furthermore in the London TMA Transponder use is mandatory. A Transponder broadcasts amongst its data altitude information which displays on ATC Radar displays and any reduction of separation immediately sets off an alarm. Spurious alarms are common due to small variations in level keeping. Also each aircraft has a Collision Avoidance System which reads other aircraft transponders and alerts the flight crew to any danger.
