  1. I have a monthly budget of half of that (so 10k) but make quite a bit more. Almost never break the budget and at the end of every month have enough to buy some pies from Pizza Company
  2. so instead of using the normal way to pay like at Makro, you scan their code and hit next.. they are asking us to go in My QR and we enter the price and they scan? out of those two options, this is definitely the worst one. job well dumb.
  3. you shouldn't need an agent and price is ridiculous, I got two bank accounts on Tourist visas and then one more on Elite (Tourist visa also) Bangkok Bank would normally make an account for you if you have someone Thai that has an account with BKK bank vouch for you. Was just a random friend that came with me and brought her bank book and ID. They will say they "can't do it" because they don't want to bother with it or don't know how to do it but normally with a bit of pressure they will. If I remember correctly they wanted 10k deposit which could be taken off the same day if you wanted but that might have been Kasikorn I was never on work permit or non-immigrant visas and I have 3 accounts, no agents nothing.
  4. Hmm, I know this is a thread from Jan 2023 but if anyone sees this it might help. The issue with Kasikorn and BKK Bank apps (and other Thai apps that are "missing") is that for some reason they directly do not allow Google accounts set outside of Thailand to download the app. There is of course a way around that, you COULD change your region to Thailand but that might prevent you from using apps back home and it can only be changed once a year Other one, very easy with an Android phone. You can download the .apk (installer file) from a third party website and just install it directly (sideload). I am sure this is somehow possible with Apple phones but I don't use them so .. The first time I was at BKK bank she asked me directly if my phone account was outside Thailand, I said yes and she said "oh then can not!" and continued the paperwork nonsense. Within about 3-4 minutes, I had went on Google and found their app on apkmirror (I think it was, was 13 years ago), downloaded it and sideloaded it. Showed it to her saying "This app?" and she was very surprised. Works perfectly fine, usually does not update by itself. K Plus was the same (and PEA Smart Plus also) Might be worth saying that if you have a two sim cards in your phone, you must be connected to the internet on mobile on the sim card that is with your phone number registered with the bank. I have my old number from a decade and a half ago that I use for incoming calls (but nothing else) and had to get a 2nd SIM for some promotion from DTAC/3BB that gives me 20GB a month of mobile data and it will not activate for Kasikorn OR Bangkok Bank with that one. So every time I change phone, factory reset or reinstall the app I must put some money on my prepaid number just so i can get a package to use internet on it.. and it's only for the first "activation" which is stupid since they use SMS 2FA anyways. Sometimes I even have to remove the other sim card completely just to complete their stupid verification.
  5. I would suggest setting up your own "free" Plex Server (or Jellyfin, which is totally free, no premium features) Basically just putting movies/tv shows into folder and pointing the app at it (there are tutorials on Youtube). Then it downloads all the covers and movie descriptions for you and you use the web app/tv app (or mobile app) to view your movies. You would likely want a hard drive dedicated to it but that is about it. Then the problem you can have within a few days is having too many movies and shows to watch
  6. Haven't read the whole 45 pages but did the first 3-4 and then last 5. I have an Elite Visa from 7 years ago, it's still valid for another 13 years (5 years a pop) but I bought it when it was 1 million baht for 20 year (the absolutely NO fluff one) Before that, I used to be on 6 months multiple entry tourist visas which I would leave and come back last day of the six month to get an extra 2 months + 1 extension and then went home --which always cost me more thank 50k. The METVs for me were a ±3 weeks trip back home, a 4000 baht visa application and then waiting + risking getting declined. Would last me for 9 months and rinse/repeat. Just with applications and extensions fees they would be easily be ±13,000 THB a year including stupid trips to Myanmar border (4h drive) and 700 baht "fees" And then add the plane trip both ways which took 3 days each and an overnight train, always about 45-50k and give or take 8k for the train (and headaches that come with both) With Elite, I paid about 50,000 per year worth, it was worth it at the time.. not so much anymore as Elite prices have been raised quite a bit since then, it is now 5m for 20 years.. (250k a year), 2.5m for 15 years (166k a year), 1.5m for 10 years (150k a year) and 900k for 5 years (180k a year). Note, the numbers don't make sense, why would you want 20 years for 5 millions if you can get two 10 years for 3 millions? Obviously, paying 10k a 5 year stamp would be a better option for me (2000 baht a year) even if I did go outside say for a day every 6 months, might cost me total of 10k with some cheap trip and accommodations. So a lot of rambling maybe, but "cheap" elite cost me Total before, about 65k a year. lots of headache, chances to get declined at borders/visa applications. Total now, 51,900 per year (50k visa, 1900 baht extension yearly) but no headaches, online 90 days etc. DTV would cost me ±10k a year with two cheap flights/hotels once per 6m. So this means this is give or take 20% of the price I paid for Elite or 6.6% of the current price for a double 10 year Elite visa. (the most cost effective one) Easy win if you can make it work!
  7. Phetchaburi but the 3rd submit was the charm. rejected, rejected, approved! haven't changed a single thing.
  8. I'm curious if anyone knows what this is about, I have had the same address for several years, once in a while they will reject my application sometimes twice in a row but then usually works. I get rejected twice this time I'll probably try again cause I only got time to go see them on Tuesday but this "error" is worrying. what does that even mean? I had a look and the last time I got rejected (in March) it was the same error then i resubmitted and they accepted. for those not aware, you only have to put your passport number and country and click on the magnifying glass and it would pull all your info from last submission so I am not typing or editing anything just submitting (like I always did).
  9. I had some of that fun last month or so too, wanted to transfer from Bank but it said I had to wait 2-3 days to do a 2nd transfer because the first one was too close to the 2nd I was trying to make.. (a day or two before, can't recall). So I thought I would use one of the other option which is the email transfer system we have back home, it said it would take up to 5 minutes.. so I was like.. fine. I do it, the money disappears from my account instantly (I click that I completed and then the next page tells me it will take up 3 days, so much for 5 minutes. I messaged support cause I "kind of" needed the money now.. not that it was a big issue but by the time they replied (about a day and a half later) the transfer was already done. That's all fine and dandy but, I was expecting 5 minutes when the normal transfers take 15 seconds. Couldn't get the money when i needed it (to transfer to help a friend that was in a bind)
  10. I didn't see none of that no, a little walk in temperature check booth, looked like a metal scanner from airport and an actual xray machine to scan backpacks is all i encountered there. maybe different entrances have it but i didn't see nothing.
  11. well, I went last Thursday, no tests, no form, no temp check. i did have to go through a little metal detector airport style thing and walk through another one and that was it. so much fuss over nothing.
  12. yeah you'd think that but I had a Thai lady here over the weekend and was explaining what she needed to do with me on Monday (tell them it was accepted before and that I was getting annoyed with it) so i wrote passport number, put country, clicked the search thing, it auto filled (exactly the same as it was before) and next day, it was accepted.. the same information as was rejected 2 days before. gotta love consistency! to be honest, i'm thinking of getting on Malaysia trip for a few hours so i can get a new entry date, new TM6 (mine is falling apart) and whatnot. maybe next month!
  13. yep and it was the same information as the first 3 times they declined me.. so 1 out of 5 on the new system I wrote before i went to immigration and pushed a bit and some old lady came out with a printout of my applications with some check marks on it, must have been her that declines/approve them.. quite a pain really, would be much simpler if the site told you why it was rejected. I feel like i'm annoying them when going there but my info hasn't changed in almost 10 years so, not sure what their problem is. so in a few days imma bring my laptop and we can do it in front of her (its auto filled anyways) and i'm sure it will "magically" get approved with the same info. just to get declined in 3 months again, of course.
  14. well well, I was advised that my 90 days report would be soon, figured i'd test the system again (it worked for the first time 3 months ago) I went on, logged in, put my passport number and country and clicked the looking glass icon which autofilled all my stuff exactly as it was accepted before I submitted it as is and it was rejected. job well dumb
  15. hey, could you confirm something for me? I have to go to CW in like 3 weeks for a sticker to be put in my passport, i have an appointment. however, they sent me this in the last email "All visitors at the immigration bureau (Chaeng Wattana Immigration office) are required to present proof of negative ATK Test (taken no more than 7 days) and pass through the thermo scanner for temperature checking before entering the building. This requirement will be effective until further notice. Please be informed that you will be required to prepare proof of your ATK test in order to enter Building B (Gate number 2) for your appointment. You will also be asked to fill in a health screening form (which would take approximately 3 minutes). Without proof of ATK test, you will not be allowed to enter the building, and your appointment will be automatically rejected." is this really being enforced? they sent me a picture of an ATK test with a date written on it and name signed.. it's kind of stupid as it doesn't prove anything but.. I don't want to be turned around for not having one, quite the trip for me
  16. genuine question, do you have to be quite overweight to hit your knees? I'm 191cm tall and had an Aerox and I think I hit my knees on the sides like twice in the year I've had it but not while riding.
  17. oh yeah, I mean I met like two of them in almost 10 years so it's not a common occurrence first was that walk in interaction then second the one from last weekend (Tinder match) I walk on the beach almost every day with my dog.. on weekends there are a lot of tourists (from BKK and outside of here) that come for the weekend and in all those years I was never, not a single time approached by a regular woman I've never ever been close to Pattaya but since I mostly keep to myself at home with my dogs, the chance of me meeting a ladyboy (that is not an obnoxious) out is basically 0%, so the only interactions I have had on the beach were gay men, bar girls and ladyboys being obnoxious.. the "Heyyyy" type.
  18. this is on point. here's my little experience vs them, it adds nothing to answer the original post but.. idk, i'm bored and it might make someone laugh so, very recently met a one who was a tourist and within 100 meters of where I live.. I had nothing else to do so I said why not. the particular one I met was rather tall, not feminine face and had an obvious male voice and at least double D. It was awkward, not much English was spoken and my Thai is rubbish at best. if curious, no sex happened. it was offered (I think?).. I got touched inappropriately and all that, I expected that. first experience I had with ladyboy was like 8 years ago, while I was talking to lady friend at a little restaurant, one of her friend comes over.. very tall, looks like a man with long hair ladyboy. sit right in front of me, asks me whats my name, where i'm from and then 10 seconds later "do you want to F me?" apart from this, all of them have been very forward like that.. now don't get me wrong, if a woman does the same thing I get equally turned off, similarly with gay men. for the women, I instantly think they are "pro" and it's a massive turn off. for the gay men/LB (I get cat called by both) then I know they are basically men and yeah. anyways, my opinion on it might be rough from meeting the wrong types of LB. nothing against them but I don't go out of my way to interact with them (or avoid them) but if you meet the right kind, very feminine or if none of the above bothers you then I'd say go ahead, who cares what your friends would say anyways. like, really.
  19. this is a fact of life nowadays, almost ANY woman that looks after herself a little bit up to probably mid 40s (if she looks good) and even if fat can have a lot of guys in her inbox nonstop. I have a young lady that lives across from me that is I think 22 years old and she has over 600 matches on Tinder and they are constantly messaging her so she can spend all nights every night just replying to them (if she wanted to) but from what I was shown she exchanged messages with about 5% of them (30 or so) and seems to choose one once in a while to have some fun with. I get some women sometimes asking me why I am single and I tell them because I didn't find anyone I wanted to be with yet.. they always tell me that it should be easy for me because blablabla but what they fail to understand is that men don't have 600 matches on Tinder fighting for my attention 24 hours a day. In fact if I get 20 matches then I will have replies from maybe 2 or 3 and it goes nowhere because those 2-3 women also have several hundreds of guys to talk to. sometimes I ask those women who tell me it's "very easy" to find someone if they like Justin Bieber (or use an older popular person if they are older) and if they say yes.. I ask them "why don't you date him then?" answers vary but it's always "he has millions of women after him, he don't care about me!" well, exactly! you don't need 1 million men or women after you to get to that point that you are messed up... if I had 50 women fighting for my attention that would probably damage my ego and I'd likely be extremely picky, because I can afford to.. now imagine 10-20x that starting from probably age 14 and all their life, nonstop nowadays.

    True vs 3BB

I used to have True internet several years ago, I don't remember it being great but I'm sure it 's better nowadays When I went back home and came back I took 3BB and never looked back, I used to have 100/10 package maybe 7-8 years ago and then they upgraded me for no extra charge to 300/20 (can't remember the exact numbers) and then later to 1000/300 About two years ago I saw there was a promotion to have 3BB and DTAC together (which I already had) and it was 1000/300 and 20GB of Mobile data for like 750 baht per month. I took that, they forced me on a year payment because apparently foreigners can't have monthly (don't know if it's really true but whatever) and paid about 8000 baht with a yearly discount per year. The only thing I have to complain about is that they forced a new SIM card and phone number on me even tho I already had a DTAC account so now since I am used to the old number I keep 2 SIM in phone, one for incoming calls (mostly deliveries) and the other one for Data. I remember about 2-3 times in the last 7-8 years that 3BB went down for extended periods of time (more than say 15 minutes)
  21. 40 years old, no drinking, no bars, no massages or any paying for sexy times 3500 rent (4x5 meters simple room) including water and electric, 50 meters from the beach 750 baht gigabit fiber home internet and 20GB mobile (combined) 150 baht per day for food = 4500 60 baht for 4x 20L delivered jugs of drinking water 1900 baht per year for visa extension (160 per month) 1000 baht per month for grain free food for dogs all in, simple life but about 10,000 a month my internet is paid yearly, not monthly with a discount so it's not technically in my "monthly" budget but it would be if they'd let me pay per month so I include it. I "need" nothing else.. it's about 10% of my income and I just save the rest. so yes, I still think I can live on less than 50k a month and I've been doing it for almost 10 years now and in 10 years, the only thing that went up for me is the rent, the landlady jacked up the price because of "electric" by 500 baht twice by now.
  22. well oh well! 3 months before my visa needs renewed it finally worked! I had a look at the previous rejected ones and it was exactly the same information on the PDFs I think either they really "fixed" something or the old lady knew I would be there the next day if she rejected my application again and didn't want to deal with me. (I don't blame her, lol) technically because I went and did this early, I have to do it again on the 9th of October (just before renewal) but if everything works well then i just have to put my passport number and country and it would be autofilled. we'll see!
  23. I just submitted my new application after kinda forgetting about it for the last week.. it's due on the 19th I'm the guy who always gets rejected, it has never worked once even with the old system. Last time, I pushed a bit about it and some immigration lady came clutching my printed "application" pages (there were like 2-3) in her hand with some checkmarks on it.. they then processed it manually and told me next time it would just work. (yeah right) so this time I will try it once or twice and if not approved then I will go to immigration with laptop in hand, information all filled and she can correct/submit it herself and then reject it herself right after. hopefully she is right and it works but.. this is my last 90 days report before renewing my Elite 5 years visa stamp in November. which means i have tried almost every single time for the last 5 years and it has never worked.
  24. yeah, it's quite nice the cart and skipping regular immigration, you can even get driven out i think up to 50km with a fancy VIP car (BMW or such, can't remember) and I used them to bring me to the Mochit Bus Terminal where i got a 160 baht bus after haven't used that in like 4 years tho
