  1. I know this hasn't seen a post in a month and is a bit of rambling but

I always had similar issues with my local Honda dealership, as far as i know they are run as franchises and the people working there don't seem to give a damn about anything.

I go to the local one for oil change AND maintenance, I show them the book with the page open to maintenance while pointing down at the list of things (it's in Thai, very easy to understand what I want). they say "OK"

mechanic does oil change, takes off bike and rolls it down saying it's ready

so, I ask, "what about maintenance?" = puzzled look, clerk at desk translates,  mechanic shrugs.. gets on the bike, drives it 200 meters down the road and back, and then says "everything OK!"

I get only charged for oil change, which is fine but I needed them to check everything and I would have paid for it but they can't be bothered because the mechanics are paid by the hour whether they help me or not

this happened about 4 times by now, different bikes over the years but always the same location.. the next one over is about 20km away (maybe I should go there)

we went there today and checked in the accessories order book that they have on a desk.. wanted a helmet for the Ms. found 3 different models I wanted.. also saddle bags and a front faux leather bag (goes on like a basket).

asked about the bags, how much? won't answer me, want to know what model of bike I have.. ignore me asking how much to go check which bike and then start saying that we can't order because it's for the 2019 bike model and I have 2018..

they are saddle bags that have straps under the seat, it makes zero difference which year my bike is.

I get her to ask about the helmets, cannot order, out of stock every single thing I ask them about, cannot cannot cannot.

so today, I get the Ms to call Honda directly and exactly as someone else said above they only thing they do is provide dealership numbers and nothing else.

we called 2 more dealerships with 5 different items I'd like to order just to be told "we don't have stock, can't order"

  2. wanted to add that on my particular model of 2018 ABS Aerox you could display the battery voltage instead of trip information

can't recall exactly how much it should be displaying cause I don't have the bike anymore but from Google it says something  between 13.7 to 14.7 volts

if it doesn't then probably something wrong with the Stator.

but I'm not a mechanic (and far from it), I just had to lookup most of this stuff after I left the USB charger in the bike for too long and my battery had to be replaced.

so someone else might correct me

  3. the real UV lights actually do work, this is the one I have and it does work (check the reviews at the bottom for some pictures)

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/portoti-pr-25mb-mosquito-pest-killer-i174536187-s358395528.html

it has to be a certain wavelength or it will not work well (or at all)

this video is from the people who made it so, might be biased but they prove their point.

the problem comes from some lamps all all they do is put a dark blue/purple LED and that does nothing vs Ultraviolet

  4. not a sizable bike but back about 5 years ago I got a Honda Wave from .. Honda and they sold me something for what I seem to recall was 700 baht

told me that it was some kind of guarantee that if I wanted to sell the bike back to them they would buy it at a high percent of the price

anyways, bike in perfect condition maybe 3000km on it max, went back to Honda they offered me like 32,000 out of 48,500

random Thai guy in shop a few streets up offered me 38,000 no questions asked

of course, they would both turn around and sell it back for 42,000 or so.

  5. not the smartest thing I have done but in about 2016 I went and got myself a CB500F from Surat Thani.

took the overnight train down from Hua Hin and landed there around 7am, gave the money to the chap after inspecting the bike for clear damage

when I then told him I had never driven one of those, he seemed concerned. lol

I had never driven manual big bike before but I had driven a Honda Wave extensively, it helped a little bit but also made me do mistakes

for example, with a Honda Wave you can stop at a light and be in 5th gear and no problem, can down shift after stopped.

well I wasn't aware that a manual bike would stall so.. at every single lights I stalled until I figured it out.

anyways, I had to get back to Phetchaburi before 3pm for an appointment so I drove the 500kms, a lot of it in the rain (on my first time on a manual bike)

coming from a Honda Wave, switching the gears was like 5% of it.. not stalling when leaving a light was 90%.

I was always scared of giving it too much RPM and going on a wheelie

would I suggest doing that on highways? no. but!

I made it alive and apart from looking like an idiot stalling at green (AND a few red lights) then I'm still alive

  6. yep, I wouldn't buy luxury items such as watches and even most clothes on Lazada myself.

only time I did order clothes they were cargo shorts, needed side pocket to put my phone when riding motorbike, bought one

and then when i figured it was correct size went and bought 5 more.

mounting your phone on your bike

lot of people wrecked their phone cameras by doing that because the vibration screws around with very small mechanical parts for camera (mostly), rest of phone works well but zoom, focus and whatnot starts acting up or straight up don't work anymore

it's not 100% and might not have happened to you or anyone you know obviously (or maybe they wouldn't know it was the cause?) but that's what I read about when I was looking for a phone mount for my Scoopy for GPS and then I decided against it..

if it's a cheap or secondary phone that you don't care about camera then sure, but I'd certainly not put a flagship phone on a bike mount

btw, love Strava, ex gf used it all the time and keeps sending me her records even two years later

  8. Lazada is pretty good, Customer Service is OK at best. every minor CS interactions ends with "I will escalate that for you and you will receive an email in 2-3 days"

It shows they have zero empowerment to give credits/refunds or do anything on their end, sad.

I have been using Shopee a bit more lately, even if it is a bit more difficult to setup AND navigate (half english, half thai)

on Lazada they have that Local checkbox on the left side that you can click to NOT see the "Overseas" (AKA China) stuff

on Shopee, you can choose which courrier you want (I prefer Kerry because they know where I am) - there is even a selection box on the left side if you absolutely don't want nothing but Kerry

I live on the 4th floor, other courriers always have to call me to explain where I am and that is out of my Thai language skills - I can somewhat explain it..  but they always have questions I don't understand/can't answer

so i am forced to run downstairs hoping to catch the owner to explain to them (sometimes twice!) and then go downstairs again when they finally show up

Kerry calls me when they are downstairs. always saying something similar to: Hello, This Kerry. 450 baht. OK! OK!

I'm up to 107 orders on Lazada. and seen that the first 50 or so orders were usually very small electronic adapters and knick nacks but I upgraded recently to much bigger items.

Can't tell you if it's because bigger or branded items were not as prominent back 6 years ago but it could be.

I like my women to be ready to bang when I feel like it, weigh less than 50Kg, and be under 35 years old.

    Nothing else really matters.

I am 37 and appreciate similar things but would add that I'd go older if the weight went down, between 45-50kg up to 45 years old if they look good.

Can't say I am a fan of older women who keep their hair short tho. I don't like it.

No job ! therby would be considered "not sufficient reason to return" probably the most common reason for rejection and the main concern of ECO

definitely, doesn't matter if you have 2 million baht in your bank, it's actually a negative point for you as you are even less likely to return if you have a bunch of money in your account than if you don't

Me as well, went back to visit 12/19 to my wife's rural village in Isaan.

No internet, no emails, no cell-phone calls for 2 weeks

Reminded me of the good ole days of growing up in the pre-internet/social media world, where you had to actually go visit friends if you wanted to hear from them.

But they could run things better, come on, stop the burning of fields, round up the rabid dogs, enforce traffic laws. It's not rocket science.

3 definitely good changes, I think they would have a hard time with the first but the second and third are possible. even if they have to hire more policemen (#2 and #3 creates jobs too)

Bikes don't come as taller or shorter, the size is determined by the frame size.

This can be a number like 56cm, or a letter like S/M/L etc.

Different manufacturer's frame sizes can feel markedly different, just like with t-shirt sizes.

yeah i knew that part, just using wrong word for it I guess

they were trying to sell me a ±56cm telling me it "should be fine" but I wanted 58cm or even 60cm

they are pretty sly at mixing just enough thai and english together to make it fun. although at times enough slips out to show the truth. a proper word used in the right context. or an idiom which would clearly not be known.

all in all a very entertaining troll. they should teach online classes or something.

    trolling 101

how to cheat a popularity contest by spamming threads and begging

how to gloat like its meaningful

it's a little bit like stolen valor, no?

It's amazing how easily these (I'm guessing older expats) are manipulated into some weird kind of online one sided romance where they play the white night to what they think is some young lady sitting behind a keyboard interacting with them.

Makes them feel special I think they never think to question why said lady would spend her entire life here trolling if she was this women of their online fantasies ????

they call those people simps now

  16. k so I know next to nothing about bikes and was considering getting a bike from a tour shop around in hua hin, they have those Marin Gestalt 2 ex-rentals bikes I believe starting at 13,000+

good idea? bad? I don't mind spending a bit more but definitely not 100,000 haha

again, total amateur and will never do races but for fitness and .. transportation

oh and also, what size of bike for someone 191cm?

guy seemed to want to give me a short bike when i called em last time (i think they didn't have tall ones)

What is the relationship between swimming alone on a deserted beach and Coronavirus?

beats me, I saw news that they closed the beaches in Phetchaburi where I live and since this all started I don't think I ever saw more than 5 people (total, not together) on the 2.5km stretch in the busiest part of the beach

I'd agree with restrictions of groups, say no more than idk 3-5 people but swimming alone? come on.

  18. I just tested and it seems I got upgraded too but to a different package - seems like 1000/500

at first, I used to have like 100/30 (can't remember to be honest). then they upgraded me for free to 400/400 and now 1000/500!

let me tell you, I have had internet nonstop practically from 1995 or so and I have never been upgraded ONCE like this back in Canada.

always had to call, get new contracts and/or pay more money

I am on one of those Huawei routers, HG8145V is the model if anyone is curious and I get the following speeds:

    image.png.073813f50cbbb09dc01f492bfc8d72fc.png

anyways, I was shopping to get my own account because this one was setup under my ex GFs name.

3BB wanted one year payment and I didn't have the cash on me at the time

this was the package I was looking to get for myself:

    http://www.3bb.co.th/3BBxdtac/

was looking at it because it included a 10 GB per month DTAC along with the 1000/300 internet (now a downgrade) for 690 baht

I already pay that just for internet and 350 baht for 6 GB of DTAC, so it was worth it.
