It's a grey area for me, see what people say from experience. I think, police usually turn up and you agree on fault and who pays and how much, many Thais on bikes have the same no insurance and often can't afford to pay so many people just forget minor accidents. Big accidents all bets are off

it's about that except police don't technically need to be called as it's a not a criminal offense.. you call your insurance if you have one and they show up.. you deal with the other person.

except, more than likely someone else WILL call the police but once they show up they usually want a tip and create more problems than otherwise.

I've had two still got 1. Not much to go wrong really. Engine is tried and tested. Suzuki Caribean et al. Nice gearbox. Spares cheap. I'm surprised the one shown doesn't have LPG most of them are converted. They have the aerodynamics of a brick so not super fuel efficient at speeds over 105 kph. But 1.8 to 2 Baht/km on LPG regardless of speed. The one shown has a bed liner or has been sprayed so sides won't fold down. It is also missing the metal frame that protects the cab from loads. (Won't really but it should be there?)

Get a rear bumper fitted save the rear light cluster although 250 baht is not much for new lenses if you stop too quickly.

The one shown has been touched up as they didn't replace the small rubber corner pucks when they finished. All 6 of them.

Google luck with the Googling suggestion. The author of that didn't try it first?

yeah I hadn't thought about the Aeroklas liner that they have in there..

the second one I was mostly interested in was about 2 years newer and had a metal frame bolted on top of the bed (which removes the chance to fold down the sides too) but it seems to be removable (not sure how much damage that would do to be honest)

I'm not 100% sure if it bothers me that I can't open the sides but it certainly is something to consider

for my use, I will use it to move which very rarely happens but so far all is a big fold-able table, my scooter and a few bins and boxes of assorted stuff

rest of the time only used as a car, very lightly.

if the choice was between those three: bi-fuel, just gasoline or just LPGwould you  have preference over an other?

I was kind of wanting to get gasoline because where I want to move LPG isn't all that easy to find but.. if bi-fuel works on only gasoline without issues drawbacks i might consider the ones bi-fuel with the switch.

are rubber pucks those little things that look like door stoppers that are on the outside of the bed corners near doors and back end (sorry if my terms are wrong)

  3. I think he might mean this one

the reason why it's confusing is that 70mai is not Xiaomi itself but as far as i understand it might be an off-brand of some sort.

I've seen a lot of items on Lazada and Shopee and they have absolutely nothing to do with Xiaomi as far as I can tell but people keep putting that

here's an example or two, you can find hundreds:

" Before Order Please Note ・ It is Xiaomi ecological chain products ,there is no any Xiaomi LOGO on it, Thanks for your understanding! "

it happens so much that I'm beginning to think it's some kind of BS to make people buy their stuff by putting the name of a popular company on it

This has kinda confused me too !!

The only 70Mai dash cam set I can find is this:

    https://www.70mai.com/en/70mai-rearview-mirror-dash-cam/

I bought the same as you ordered, 70mai dash cam pro , and don’t see any way to add a rear camera too it .

yeah, I actually have a backwards camera with a little screen but the whole setup is kind of janky (not to mention a separate setup) so a all in one system might make more sense.

saw that rearview thing as well and also 2 different back up cameras, not sure if it's one of those (or the one you linked)..

Get yourself a Carry on Petrol AND LPG.

Very economical, rather clean burning and the engine needs no alterations to burn LPG.

Very reliable also, cheap to repair.

seen a few/lot of those.. is it possible to run on only one fuel without issues?

asking because where I might be living LPG stations are far between and i would likely only have it on petrol

also not sure if its a good idea  to keep a full LPG tank without using it for months?

  6. Okay so I am about to get myself a used Suzuki Carry, I know next to nothing about mechanic stuff even tho my dad is a mechanic by trade. (he left when I was young, hah)

looking at something similar to this: https://www.one2car.com/en/for-sale/suzuki-carry-mini-truck-bangkok-metropolitan-sukhaphiban1-2-3/6880402

I will go look at some of them in a week or so. so far, all the ones that I selected look great externally and inside including the box but I've also seen the rusty and damaged ones, the ones with the big boxes and "carry boys" etc.

    not sure i'm a fan.

is there anyone with mechanical knowledge that would be able to tell me what to look at/for?

I am likely bringing a Thai guy with just so he can have a look at paperwork to make sure everything is kosher but idk how much he knows about it.

I was thinking maybe an idea would be to ask them to come with us to a Suzuki dealership and ask them to check it out? I'm not sure if that's something they do (assume yes)

also, I am interested in what tools I should own so I can possibly do my own maintenance after, changing oil, extra wheel and whatnot..

what parts to upgrade (if any), what kind of stuff to buy to clean the dash, you know .. stuff like that.

I also seen that there is a bunch of those trucks that have been converted to LPG only, some have bi-fuel, gasoline and LPG and the originals are gasoline.

I understand that you can switch fuel with a little switch if it's bi-fuel on the right side near the steering wheel but I'm not sure if being bi-fuel is a positive thing or should be avoided.

I am sure we would be doing fine alone but any help is appreciated so I go in there knowing more.

Front and rear camera are sold as a set. Rear camera doesn't have memory card, screen and power cable. Just cable from the main (front) camera. rear camera is just a slave o main.

If you buy 2 separate cameras. Both cameras will need power source, it's memory card and you will have to operate them separately. With a set you don;t care about anything of that.

I never seen the set with the rear camera, this is the one I ordered.

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/global-ver-xiaomi-70mai-pro-dash-cam-night-vision-voice-control-i342028195-s664124890.html

I assume it's the same model but with just a camera+cable.. would you have a link for it or something? I'm mildly interested if it's the same model to see if i can just get the 2nd one, etc.

  8. yeah its only the information that shows where it is (at this moment, if you sent it to me and i saved it on my desktop it would show MY path to desktop) and where it's shared on local computer and what user on it "owns" it

+ M40-Laptop-1 is not a user on my computer so it wouldn't show that.

plus unless you are sending those files directly via email (or something like Google Drive), not through Facebook and such then there would be none of that additional information left

If you have a Thailand-based paypal account you should be able to register your Krungthai debit card (or the Krungthai account) to use for funding purchases.

yep, not wrong and if KTB doesn'T want to help you with online purchases out of Thailand this might be one of  the only ways.

my Kasikorn Bank visa debit card seems to be declined with everything that isn't charging THB as well, no clue if its something the bank can sort out but it's annoying

edit: there is also that issue with UnionPay cards bs that doesn't work half the time

  10. here's some facts from the WHO themselves

    https://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/statements/2017/flu/en/

for people who don't want to bother clicking and or reading, "Up to 650 000 people die of respiratory diseases linked to seasonal flu each year"

seasonal flu doesn't mean whole year, obviously.

they said it started in December so we are technically sitting at 7th month of this (58% of a year) and last I checked it was a close to 55-60% those normal figures

  11. I live in Phetchaburi and internet is stable AND cheap as heck, 750 baht I get 1000/1000 Fiber with 3BB,

they have promotion now 1000/300 and a DTAC sim with 10GB data per month together for 649 baht which I use for tethering if I REALLY need internet when it goes down

I have more worries about the electricity than the internet to be honest.

Do you know where to buy it at local shops ?

And are you sure that the 3 others are insecticides ?!

    Thank you so much.

I never bought it in Thailand but here:

    https://healthfoodthailand.com/en/non-toxic-household/1162-diatomaceous-earth-.html

if you plan on using it internally for anything don't buy the non-food grade (they have pool grade or others)

second question, you had all the links and this is the first lines for all three:

    Fipronil is a broad-spectrum insecticide
Permethrin, sold under the brand name Nix among others, is a medication and insecticide.
The pyrethrins are a class of organic compounds normally derived from Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium that have potent insecticidal activity by targeting the nervous systems of insects.

doesn't mean that it doesn't work by the way, just stating they were insecticides vs just loose powder

...and not have your name and phone number shared with online marketers.

here's a little true story as some kind of proof that this happens

about 6 years ago, I went to Hua Hin immigration to do a visa extension and they asked me to write my phone number manually on the form (there wasn't a spot for it back then)

a few days later I started getting cold calls from DeVere Group to my cell (Google it up, "devere group cold calls thailand")

they addressed me by full name and talked like I was from Hua Hin (I never lived in Hua Hin, Phetchaburi didn't have an immigration office before so we went to Hua Hin)

now, how do I know who gave it away? because I never gave that number away to anyone before this, passport registration was not a forced thing back then. my name was not linked to my phone number in any way.

so, someone at immigration was giving away (more likely selling) phone numbers and full names of people going there (and who knows what else)

obviously I'm not saying it's happening with this App

  15. don't need anything else than Windows Defender to be honest and I don't know anyone that is serious in IT that would suggest anything else (nowadays anyways)..

a few years back, maybe yes.

I had to disable parts of Windows Defender because it was "catching" more than it should, false positives (excluding directories to prevent it from deleting known safe apps)

  16. Diatomaceous Earth works but it's a fine powder, leaves a mess practically everywhere and is bad if inhaled.

for ticks, fleas etc, Diatomaceous Earth is the equivalent of dumping sharp shards of glass on them, it sticks to them, cut them and dries them out

you can also feed it to the dog to get rid of some internal parasites as well (worms, etc) but you make a little paste chunk and either hide it in  something else or force em to swallow (very chalky)

by the way, that last part works on humans too

it's a mechanical effect, compared to the other 3 who are insecticides.

it also works on bed bugs, dust mites, cockroaches, ants, etc.

    YET beaches still closed???

yep, quite ridiculous if you ask me. I have two young puppies and have to bring them to the beach at least 4-5 times a day and risk getting the 100,000 baht fine.

police pickups going a few times a day to curse out people on the beach (95% Thai). just this morning a pickup with like 8 people at the beach, no masks

chances of them getting fined = 0 but myself I decided to just pay some Thai person to bring my dogs out during the middle of the day as I know there's a big chance they would fine me.
