  1. I'm coming back to Jomtien after leaving for a few months and I have a reentry permit stamp for Non O based on Retirement.

Based on what I've read all I need is and I'll quote a previous poster.

"When I reported returning to the same address to Jomtien, I did not need to re-fill a new TM-30, provide a condo-letter (juristic person), copy of lease, etc - just passport photos (main-page,  latest stamp), TM-6, and copy of my previous TM-30 passport-slip."

I'll be arriving late night so I'll have all the next day to gather my needed stuff and report to Chon Buri Immigration, on business days.

My question is, am I good to go doing this?

    Thanks

  2. I was recently advised at the Chon Buri Immigration in Jomtien that if I was out of country for 30 days or less there is no need to file a new TM30.  Since then I've read reports that it is required there within 24hrs of arriving to my residence.  I pretty sure that no one knows what exactly is required and I'll continue to file TM30's just in case, unless of course they offer me a signed letter stating the 30 day or less requirement.

Thanks but I am surprised for some reason I presumed they would come in a sealed plastic pack like the nuts?

Anybody know for sure at a more central location?

Actually the can has a plastic top that's for sealing purposes, like a mixed nut or sunflower can would.

  4. BBQ Prime Time on 9 is having an all you can eat buffet this Sunday, July 23, 3-6 pm to celebrate their 6th month birthday on being open. It's just 149 baht.

I'm going as the BBQ is really good and the beer is cold also. They even have microbrews.

    More info here,

I bought that @ Family Mart and they offer two different Mixed Nuts.  One with the Brazil Nuts and the was other without.  The one with had 3 Brazil nuts in it's contents.  I don't remember the exact price but it was about 110 baht to 120 baht for the package.  I think I'll check out Central Festival for the Brazil Nuts next.

  6. Charge us 50 bath for toilet! (wet floor)and 7% service charges!

Can't believe that was a Kiss restaurant. I've eaten at both many times, never been charged for the toilet. 7% service charge! That's 70 baht if you spent a 1000 baht, but more like 35 baht for a meal for two. Did you have to cut your holiday short and fly home?

This an old post so I have to assume he might have been referring to the old Kisses that was located where the new Terminal 21 Mall is being built. There wasn't a restroom connected to the restaurant. Can't remember if there was a charge for the one at the old shopping center or not.

No. The "Under Consideration" period is a stamp providing 30-days permission of stay while your 12-month extension of stay application is under consideration. It's recommended you stay in-country during this 30+ day time period.

How soon can you apply for this 12-month extension during the 90 day non-0 visa?  The last 30 days?

  8. I noticed that also, figured it was just dumb luck.  The bank caddy-corner from the Avalon Residence where I stayed does change Thai baht into kip, but won't change it back the other way.  A lot of businesses and tuk tuk's will accept baht, but I'd ask first.

Quick update for Savannakhet, most ATM in Savannakhet are not accepting Visa, MasterCard or Cirrus. Nobody has given me a reason in the Banks I have tried.

  9. I whent there on april19th. They never asked for proof of outbound flight. And I showed them a screen shot of my current Canadian bank. Balance  from my IPhone. And they granted me the 60 day tourist visa for 1000baht as requested  or for 2000baht and proof of marriage and proof of residency they will give you a 90 day tourist visa

I was there on the 25th and screen shots or showing cash didn't suffice. It had to be a copy of the bank book or statement only, also just showing the book or cash wasn't cutting it.

A couple of folks ahead of me were being turned away for not having a flight out of Thailand ticket. Since I wasn't asked for one I can only speculate. Random or tourist? Since mine was a non-O, I don't know.

  10. I suspect they will allow a current bank passbook showing funds on deposit and immediately available for withdrawal. I used that once in Ho Chi Minh City for a SETV from The Thai Consulate there.

But at that time I had about 400K in my Thai Bank account.

The bank book was accepted .

    they are not fools.

They wanted copies of your bank book or an online print out of your bank statement. Because I had a notarized income letter from the consulate for a non-O based on retirement not having 800k didn't matter I guess. I heard him tell one guy ahead of me it had to show at least 20k baht.

  11. Can anyone recommend hotel other than the casino and Daosavanh Resort & Spa Hotel?

I was somewhat disappointed with Savannakhet as everything is so spread out and difficult to get to without a Tuk Tuk.

I stayed at the Avalon Residence and it was okay, the free breakfast was meh. Next time I'll probably stay next door at a place called Aura Residence, the food although not western was pretty good.

Pilgrims Kitchen & Inn is highly rated and close to a night market, the food mainly Mexican, American and Indian was pretty good. I didn't see an elevator there. For a good cheeseburger Lin's Cafe doesn't disappoint.

  12. Does it have to be an online bank statement? That seems a weird rule. Would they not accept a real passbook from a Thai bank? Of course I could print off the online statement but that seems really weird.

He was also accepting copies of your bank book, the most current page being important. One guy apparently only had the front page and had to leave to get the current one.

For tourist visas, flight or travel out of Thailand and proof of funds has been required since January 1st in savannakhet

Very true as it was my first visit to Savanakhet I thought I'd pass along my experiences.

Vientiane on the other hand was requiring a medical and background clearance on my last visit for a non-O.

  14. Just a heads up that Savannakhet is wanting a ticket out of Thailand and an online copy of your bank statement for tourist visas, along with the usual copies of passport, Laos Visa and entry stamp etc.  I overheard him saying to a few rejected applicants that the bank statement must have at least 20,000 baht in it.

For the non-O (for purposes of retirement) I only supplied them the copies of my passport info page, Laos Visa and entry stamp along with a copy of my consulate income verification letter (notorized and the original was shown to him).  He did ask for a copy of a online bank statement, which I had but he did not request a onward ticket out of Thailand.  I had a ticket just in case.

There were many people being turned away for not having the requested documents.  One gentleman was given a hard time for wearing a printed t-shirt and jumping out of the line and over the chain to deposit his backpack on a table.  So beware as they are watching you and it's probably best to be in good dress and behavior.  I wore long shorts, sandals and a collared shirt, nothing was mentioned to me.

Anyone tried that new food court/cocktail bar area in the front of Central Marina?

I tried the 'OMG Burger' place. Quite tasty, better than a McDonald's experience and possibly slightly cheaper. The burgers are smallish but better quality meat.

I've also tried that 'Cafe 35'. Not bad but maybe a little pricey and not quite on par with somewhere like say S&P.

Anyone tried any of the other places in that area?

The OMG Burger place is a new one on me.  Is it worth trying?  It's so close to Jim's Burger & Beer, I almost think I'll opt out as Jim's has burgers that don't disappoint.
