Tonight is Lasagne night at Retox.  Lasagne, garlic bread, a small salad, and beer or drink for 199b.  The Lasagne is very good and a huge portion. I felt like a wimp last time could not finish all I had to take some home.

Which one is it?  According to Trip Advisor there's one on Soi Lengkee called Retox Bar, Hotel and Restaurant.  There's another place Called Retox Game On located at 2nd Rd and up Soi 11.

  2. Agree that is best. Start with a 90 day O from the US and then there is only one step left being the annual extension at your local Thai immigration office in Thailand. Also of course you need the income letter from the US embassy or consulate in Thailand for the annual extension application.

Since I had to get a tourist visa at Vientiane, Laos due to a non-O refusal because I didn't have a police check or a medical statement, what are the steps to convert the TV to a non-0? This will most likely be done locally at Jomtien. Or would I be better off going to Savannakhet? I have a nearly one month old income statement notarized by the US Consulate already.

  3. I arrived back on Friday afternoon, late.  I submitted a TM28 and a TM30 to Chon Buri Immigration at Jomtien today (Monday).  I have gone to Cambodia, Laos, and the USA numerous times and but I have always resided at the same Thailand address.  This is the first time I have presented myself with the requested documents in a timely manner.

Monday was chosen as I believe their offices are closed during the weekend.  Previously I've filled out the TM 30 form with requested copies during my extension requests without issue.  However due to numerous reports about fines and grief I decided to report at the first possible time and I'm glad I did.

No problems, no fines just a two hour wait for my place in line in a hot, crowded small office to the left as you enter the building.  The ladies were very helpful and courteous.

The lady helping me reported that the TM28 wasn't needed and handed it back.  Unlike other reports that report that it is, it isn't in my case anyway.

I now have a TM30 receipt for when I apply for a 30 day extension.  Hopefully no worries :-).

That is because they incorrectly using the requirements for a OA visa shown on their website.

They will accept a police clearance certificate done here though is what they told a member when he tried.

I'd really like to find out if he was successful with a local police clearance certificate from Thailand vs from the country of residence.  Luckily I was able to get another TV (4th one from Vientiane).  I did get the dreaded black warning stamp though.

  5. I suggest she go to a Amphoe and ask for a print out of her house book registry. She should be able to get one by showing her ID card. Immigration will accept that in lieu of a copy of the house book.
Another option you have is to apply for the change of visa status in Bangkok by showing your address in Udon. Do not make any mention of staying in Pattaya. They are lot friendlier about issuing the visa than Jomtien.
At this time I cannot recommend going to Vientiane for the non-o visa for being 50 or over. There have been a couple of recent reports of them insisting that a medical certificate and a police clearance certificate.

You are correct, they are now enforcing two additional rules at Vientiane.

Jims Burgers. Went there the other night after seeing it reccomended on this thread. I ordered the small Jim burger with fries, which was amended to burger and onion rings because they had no fries left (would McDs or BK run out of fries?). Burger included bacon,  cheese, fried onions, pickle and raw onion. Price was about 160 Baht. I was off the beer after a heavy night the night before but I won't be tempted at the prices on offer. I did enjoy the food and think it was value for money. The burger had a slightly strange aftertaste but it wasn't unpleasant. When I left there were just 2 customers remaining and they had their food, but the 4 staff in the kitchen were all busy cooking, presumably for deliveries.

I will visit again and have the larger size burger and, hopefully, french fries. I rarely drink booze in a restaurant so will not be partaking of their beer. It is too expensive anyway IMO. Jims is a bit off the beaten track on the road behind Central Marina that leads to North Pattaya Road. It is worth visiting for me. GOOD.

Next time I'm going for the Double Dragon :-).  Excellent burgers imho, btw try one their IPA's if you can afford it, recommended.  Thanks for sharing your experience.

What reporting fee? No report to immigration has a fee unless you are late doing them and then it is fine.

The 1900 baht is for extensions and you only have to do that once a year.

Possibly he was referring to the reentry pass you can purchase at the airport, don't know but I will definitely do that next time with a non-O based on retirement.

Yes,it's compulsory in Jomtien. I did it 14 days ago, I am on retirement visa, married from 22 years, living in the house of my wife.

Fill the T.M 30 and you will get a receipt of notification to staple in your passport,

If you don't do and one day you have to go to immigration for 90 days, re-entry,extension  of stay, etc,  immigration will check if you did the T.M 30.

If not, fine from 800 baht to 4000 baht

Last time I was there I didn't receive a receipt, I also lost my previous one.  Not a problem apparently at the Chon Buri office.

  9. Listen to ubonjoe, he knows what he's talking about.

I've never had to pay a fine at the Chon Buri (Jomtien) Immigration and just present a new TM-30 every time I have to go there.  This TM-30 thing started there over a year ago, previously they never asked for one.

If I was staying just 30 days or less on a visa exemption stamp I wouldn't even think or worry about it, but that's me.  Your best resource of information on this forum is ubonjoe.

Beetroot is purely an Australian thing. Never seen it offered on a burger in the states.

Best burger i have had here was at Hooters. Hardrock is second Jim's 3rd Pastrami on Rye 4th. But PoR by far is the best value priced at around 260 bath about half the price of the other places.

I've heard different reports about Hooters, never been to Hardrock and I am planning on visiting Jim's.  What made the Hooters and Hardrock burger best?  Just wondering.

Eventually I should try them out also but I am asking for a reason to do so.  Right now judging from the pictures, Jim's look like they make awesome burgers.  It's a shame about Pastrami on Rye, hopefully it's just a hiccup.

Chonburi - about 2 wks ago for a 30-day extension.  The TM-30 in my passport from months before was fine, as I had not moved, even though I had left the country and returned on a new Tourist Visa.  The address on the latest TM6 (arrival/departure card), which I filed on entry, matches my TM-30 Address.  No fines, no problems.

If you move - yes, inform them immediately.  But leaving/returning from abroad to the same address where you already have a TM-30 filed??  Was this the case in your situation?  Or was this your first TM-30 at that address?

Exactly my experience also.  Just submit the TM-30 every time you need to visit immigration.
