There has not been a dramatic surge in harassment of tourists by Thai police...but there has been a dramatic surge in tourist speaking up and reporting police wrong doing...
..and they are speaking up because of the surge in harassment.

Not familiar with the laws there but I don't think any country can "deport" citizens almost by definition of the word deport. I assume a large portion of Australian Muslims are full citizens.Deport.
Many of them are Arabs with Australian passports. Not citizens.

All drug dealers deserves the death penalty. Time they start carrying out the sentences in Thailand too.

Why have no extradition proceedings been filed against Thaksin? They know where he is? Waiting for the statutes of limitation?

Trang is a beautiful place. Big mountains, beautiful island and beaches and really friendly locals. Hardly any tourists there. Just a little over an hour from Malaysia.

........."Acting on answers to questions they asked Wilai, police then went to a rented room in Nanai Rd in Patong where Kanyaporn Khunthong, 28, and Alessandro Famondi, 38, from Italy, were arrested after being found in possession of 10 grams of marijuana."
...there is a term for such behaviour....
Heroic? I salute them for informing the police where to find more drug dealing scum.

The thought is good but I doubt the political will power is there. The urge to try to squeeze foreigners of every penny and treat them as unwanted aliens, still prevails. Langkawi is a much better alternative. Not necessarily because it is a more scenic and interesting place, but because it's in Malaysia, a country who treats it's visitors with dignity and respect, unlike Thailand. Hey, a foreigner can even own land there.

The sad thing is that Thailand doesn't care about the abuses and sufferings of the enslaved people, but they are just worried about getting punished. If no punishment and penalties threatened, Thailand would just continue to earn money on human suffering.

Can I use my singapore driving license instead of a Thai?

Can't be bothered carting stuff back from the shops, get mine from wishbeer, not bad prices considering it's delivered.
You have a point there, but for us outside Bkk, it may be quicker to go to Villa Market to get some. However, I am a frequent user of Wishbeer.com which, by far, has Thailand's best selection of beer and excellent service as well.

I feel that Courage's Director is as sessionable as the Bombardier, and both more so than London Pride.

Fortunately this spoilt brat didn't kill anyone.

The tsunami killed 10,000 in Thailand . Since the tsunami, almost 300,000 have died on Thai roads. It is very obvious that every potential traveler to Thailand should be warned about the dangers of visiting the country.

I read some really bad reviews on this beer from McEwans. If you want to try I think Signature is the best of them. But will find out next time . I have stocked up with Wells Waggle dance for the next days.....
If you read the reviews on beeradvocate.com or ratebeer.com, then it will always be a bad score unless it's a super bitter IPA or a 10% "imperial" something. Even some of the nicest British beers receive bad reviews. It's a very very pro US and Belgian crowd.

You are correct. The 26,000 number comes from international organizations that use internationally accepted methods of calculation. The official thai numbers are more statistics friendly, and only counts victims dead at the scene as fatalities. If you die in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, you are only counted as "injuried".
I believe that those statistics only relate to deaths at the roadside. If you die in the hospital or from injuries in the following days they are not counted. As well, many deaths in the remote regions of the north and in hill tribe districts are not even registered at all.Official number of road fatalities per year: 26000
Divided by 365: 71 a day. So using statistics, 58 deaths is pretty good.
There is obviously something very Thai going on.
However I stand to be corrected.

144bht? That's a good price. I wish the Hook Nortons and Sambrook's were priced the same...

The Japanese are the best tourists. Polite, honest, clean and high spenders.

Prevent them from coming by introducing very strict visa rules for them.

Well, I am no connoisseur, but you should try it. I like it as a first beer. Had it yesterday as a beer number two, following a London Pride. It wasn't as good then. I would still rank Bombardier higher, but this is still a welcome change.
-
And then Courage's Director (abv 4.8%) finally came to Villa Market. It is a nice beer, at the same price as Well's Bombardier. I like them both, and will probably alternate between them and London Pride.

Good news! This will send signals to other corrupt officials, not only the police, but much more needs to be done. But it's a good start.

This is a good chance for the new government to show what it's made of. Make a statement out of this guy, regardless who's son he is.
