I keep it for the Wife.

I got rid of it for this exact reason.

All she ever watches is goofy lakorns on channel 3 - free to air. The cable box would go months without being turned on.

I was throwing away money every month, and no programming that I really wanted to watch.

And since her domination of the television is absolute, I find myself in the man-cave watching Youtube and Netflix. Suits me just fine.

There are BTS and MRT stations near Imperial Word Lad Phrao.

MRT Lad Prao Station is near when compared to the proximity of transit to the other locations, but you will still need a taxi to get to Imperial World.

  3. The revenue department is going to be all over the shareholders / directors of the existing company. I am surprised that you have not heard from them already. Companies do not go dormant in Thailand until they are properly closed and wound up with the revenue department. You probably won't get a new work permit until all of your taxes, social security et al are paid in full from the "job" that you already have.

Best advice - get square with them as soon as possible. Once you are on their radar, you will be there forever.

  4. Don't know the answer to question number one for certain, but itis possible you could try the Australian Embassy, according to this page of the Canadian Government website. It says:

Canada’s relations with the Kingdom of Cambodia are managed by the Embassy of Canada in Bangkok. Consular services for Canadians in Cambodia are available through the Embassy of Australia, by virtue of the Canada-Australia Consular Services Sharing Agreement.

If you do need to come to Bangkok, there is clear information here about renewing your passport.

For questions two and three, the answer is yes.

  5. Is it even an offence here?

There are (were anyway) signs and a median fence along lower Sukhumvit in BKK indicating a fine for jaywalking.

Pretty sure it's not an offence generally.

They are still there - I was noticing them a few days ago.

What I noticed is that they are in English only. Kinda determines who the "target market" is for the enforcement officers.

  6. Thailand immigration never made any mention of it before, this is my 3rd passport from Canadian Embassy in BKK. Maybe they were just being overly efficient (officious) because there was an "immigration trainee" in a goofy vest working there yesterday and today.

They put the stamp on page three- "Observations" - right above my picture and passport info. Just looked back through my old passports and they all have a stamp like this in them, even the really old ones issued in Canada.

  7. I do not believe the Canadian Embassy will do a letter.

I think you will find a note inside the new passport with detail of the previous passport.

If you draw attention to this note immigration will move the stamps but my need a photocopy of the note in the passport.

This proved to be the correct answer.

I went down to the Canadian Embassy this morning, and they showed me where they had stamped my old passport with a big stamp that said "This passport has been superseded by Canadian Passport number XXXXX ... blah blah blah".

Went back to Chaeng Wattana after that, and they once again demanded a certificate from the Embassy. I showed them the stamp in my passport, which resulted in lots of head scratching and strange facial expressions, and them eventually taking my passport somewhere to ask someone, but it worked out and I got it done.

  8. I recently received a new passport from the Canadian Embassy here in BKK. I went out to Chaeng Wattana today to transfer the stamps to the new passport.

I was told that my documentation was incomplete; I need to have a certificate from the Embassy.

I'm kinda chapped that the Canadian Embassy didn't tell me anything about this when I collected the new passport, but oh well..... tomorrow morning I will schlep back to the Embassy to enquire / obtain this certificate, then back to Chaeng Wattana,

My question is... does anyone know what this certificate is? What do I ask for at the Embassy? (The immigration officer at CW was rather curt at saying "certificate from embassy" and pointing to it on the list of documentation on the back of the form I had to fill out.)

Any costs involved to get said certificate, or any documentation that I should take?

Thanks in advance for any knowledgeable answers.
