Agree with the point re change of shift, if it's that time of day I fully understand a driver not wanting to head off in a different direction to his depot
This would be ridiculously simple to solve; Same as they do in Singapore. The taxi driver puts a sign in his window that says "Changing Shift: Bedok" or wherever his depot is located. This way he can find a fare that is going his direction, and other potential passengers realize why he cannot take them where they want to go.

Residents living near the eastern coastline from Chumphon to Surat Thani, Nakhon So Thammarat, Phatthalung and Songkhla, and those living along the western coastline from Ranong to Phang-nga, Phuket, Krabi, Grant and Saturn are advised to brackets for heavy rains and floods.
Grant and Saturn?? Huh??

you know little about Thai culture.
Thai people don't eat snakes?
-
Ms. Bino hasn't done it, but many of the women in her family, and many other women I know have done this.
It is common practice among Thai women- based on the advice of a fortune teller.

I often give 1000 baht notes at the toll plaza. It is convenient place to break the large note to smaller denominations because they have lots of cash and small bills.
I just make sure to check every time ,and never had a problem or been shortchanged.

Better to stick to your high rise condo in the big city. I have young children and a good snake is a dead snake,so you saying its better to let the snakes bite your family members. Odds on you have never been close to one. Tree huggerDon't kill snakes.
No need to kill snakes. 1 local call to get one Removed.
They serve a purpose.
The snake ends up dead anyway, because the person you call is going to kill it and eat it, or sell it to someone who will kill it and eat it.
I suppose they serve a purpose in the sense that they are returned to the food cycle this way.

Hope they are found safe ... They must be scared to death if they are still alive......
Indeed... one of the most terrifying things imaginable.
Fighting for your life with no relief in sight and knowing that death by drowning is almost certain.
The chance of recovery and being found decrease exponentially by every minute.
God help their souls tonight. I will be praying for them.

Get rid of the slander, libel laws.
As well as censorship and media control, allowing unbiased and accurate reporting / invesigative journalism.
Imagine if the dirty bggers were losing face on the six o'clock news every night. A lot of corruption would stop immediately.

Wonder if said car park attendant was on the payroll of the car park owner.
Or at 2:30am just an opportunist who saw cars parking on an unattended car park and thought he could make some easy money.
If he was on payroll, he probably won't be any more. Any record will be destroyed and said car park owner will deny ever knowing said car park attendant.

Once again, Thailand saves face because "They not Thai people."

You've got my attention. So what do you do, soak them off ?Now while at it, get rid of the tax stickers as well. They can be a real pain in the ass on imported beer bottles.
You're doing it wrong.
I think he is suggesting that you use a bottle opener instead of your sphincter to open beers.

Paypal (an Ebay Company) offer great buyer protection - best to use it imho
Ditto. PayPal is the way to go on Ebay.
As mentioned, PayPal maintains your data, and simply "pushes" the money to the seller, instaed of giving your credit card number and letting the seller "pull" the sales amount (or whatever they want)
Because PayPal is an ebay company, Ebay offers great buyer protection to people who pay with PayPal. Ebay seems to take fraud and scams very seriously... whenever I have had to raise a dispute it has always worked out in my favour.

I got a weak but useable Truemove H 3G signal in my fourth floor hotel room in Vientiane. No signal at ground level. No telephone signal anywhere.

Have a corruption court. Put all cases on national shows. Broadcast them live. We have plenty of TV channels, don't we?
What would really help is to allow investigative journalism with impunity.
Wonderful idea! If the dirty buggers were losing face on the six o'clock news every night, instead of getting away with it and hiding behind antiquated defamation laws, a lot of the corruption would stop immediately.
I think it would be great television- similar to the nightly Lakorns but better!
Corruption has nothing to do with skin colour.
Absolutely correct. They're all dirty.

All Vespas are foreign, right? I don't believe there is such thing as a domestic Vespa.

No need for an enquiry as everyone knows the problem is with the State Railway of Thailand. It should be operated by BTS or similar private operator.
I don't disgree with that at all.
When you consider the "track record" (pun intended) of SRT, this news about the airport rail link should come as no surprise.
Their existing rolling stock gets the minimum amount of advance planning, maintenance and upgrading. The derailmants and accidents that happen with alarming frequency in this country indicate that the tracks themselves get the same level of attention.
There will be hell to pay if the airport link goes down for a year. Even though it may not be particularly effective for its airport purpose, I know of many Thais who have moved into the vicinities of the stations and rely on the "commuter" trains for transportation.
It is amazing that such a vital piece of urban infrastructure can become so neglected... or maybe not, because this is Amazing Thailand.

An ex-politician in BBC scandal jailed 155 years
in Thailand News
Posted · Edited by bino
Did YOU read it? And, did you read ATF's post correctly?
All the OP article says is that he is in jail for 10 years. ATF asks "Where is he in jail?" which is not specified in the OP.
ATF- he finally lost all appeals in Canada and was repatriated to Thailand on 31 October 2009.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/561118-former-bbc-adviser-rakesh-saxena-gets-10-year-prison-sentence/
He is incarcerated in Thailand now - in the Thaivisa thread above: " He was never granted bail since being extradited, but was put behind bars at the maximum-security Bangkok Remand Prison."
Probably nowhere near as plush as his house arrest in Canada.
