Had this issue recently at BKK. Had previously entered on a tourist visa then went home for a month and came back on 30 day exemption. (Had previously had B visa and WP and loads of COVID extensions l)

got pulled aside and asked a bunch of questions, showed them my onward ticket to China in 30 days and they were fine with it. Have avoided entering through BKK since then tho.

Did you go to a male IO or female IO at BKK? Lots of people advise avoiding female IOs.

I think these tighter restrictions have been around for a long time now, several years. The days when you could Visa hop are gone.

A load of BS. I know loads of Lao & Cambodian people doing visa runs every 30 days to stay here for many years already, and continue to do so without any hassles. Not once have they been questioned or had any issues whatsoever. There are a number of visa run companies who are doing them for those nationalities.

I could do that, or just get a retirement visa since I am over 50.  That's not the point.  The point is that I followed the rules and was still made to feel unwelcome.  No guarantees that getting either of those other visas will solve that.  It makes me want to reconsider retiring here when there are other countries who seem to have much more welcoming visa rules for people like me.  There are limits to what I will put up with no matter how much I like it here.  The new tax rules are another thing that concern me.  It's not just this.

That's probably exactly why you had issues. You're over the age of 50 and really should be on a retirement visa. Leave the METV for the younger folks who aren't able to get a retirement visa due to age discrimination of the Thai government. Lots of younger folks could easily do a 800k in the bank while there are lots of old folks doing the dodgy dodgy agent & immigration bribes because they can't do a 800k in the bank qualification.

Ladyboys will go with anyone, they don't care if the person is an ugly old, fat farang.

Same with nearly all other prostitutes. As far as you give them money, most of them will say you are handsum man, even if you are an old, ugly, super obese, hairy, bald, old man.

Yeah im sure that normal cigaret smoke or a cigar would smell more pleasant, aside from it lingering for hours instead of 10 mins.

Would be great if they banned all smoking or made a room for all the smokers to smoke only to enjoy their ways. That being said, weed/marijuana/ganja really stinks so badly and gives an instant headache when it comes into your room.

  6. They should've banned that from the 1st Jan 2024, not the end of the years. Too many waankers smoking that shiit in the condo balconies in Pattaya in my building, and that shiit blows everywhere into my room and stinks up my room. Good thing though is the juristic office doesn't stand for that shiit and report those waankers and they get fined. Too many Air BnB type waankers think they can do whatever they want without respect to others in the building.

At some point (maybe 2017-2018?) Swing moved to Lumphini-Wang Mai area (don't remember exact location but I remember taking taxis going in that direction). Was big and lots of people even very late. Operated for a couple of years and closed (police raid if I remember correctly). Then Covid happened, and in 2022 they tried opening another location near soi ratchadamri 2 where Superrich is, but the place was tiny and usually empty - nothing like the big clubs they ran before. We went a few times to give it a chance, and ditched it for another bar nearby that was and still is the go-to spot for afterhours. Less drugs there too. I don't know if that place on Ratchadamri still exists, but probably not.

Didn't the cops own Swing? They raided their own establishment?

Long term rental in Pattaya is/was ridiculously cheap. I rented for 2 years. It started at 1200 a month and went up to 2000. 6 months ago, I bought. You'll need a lot of bikes to make any money. And English speaking, trusted staff, mechanics, etc etc. And the aggravation you get from customers. Nasty, aggressive white guys.

Where do you get long-term rentals for 1,200/month? What type of bike? Are we talking about a very old beat-up Honda click 125cc or Honda Scoopy?

I'm a condo owner and don't own a car. I'm not interested in footing some portion of the cost to put infrastructure, whether it be the chargers themselves or the other inevitable improvements to accommodate a larger load on the system, into our building to cater to EV owners.  I'm doing more for the environment than any EV owner.

In some condo buildings owners don't even own their own parking space. So where would you charge your vehicle? Put a charging station in every parking spot does not seem feasible or solve the problem.

Seems a bit of an intractable problem especially with the boom in condo units.

That's why the OP and his other EV lovers should offer to foot the bill for an EV charhing station in the condo. I'm wondering if he offered to pay for it?

    Good morning,

as explained in the title there is no charging option in my condo (condo built in 2009). I recently purchased an hybrid car and I started to charge it on the regular electrical outlet in the parking.
I knew from the start that they would not allowed that but I did it to see their reaction.

For the background story, I'm the owner of my condo unit and multiple owners raised the question about electric chargers (including me) during annual co-owner meeting last year. So far no action from the condo.

As expected, my GF received a text from juristic office to tell me to stop charging my car 2 days after my first charge (I wish they were that fast to take care of other issue in the condo...).

Anyway, I understand that they ask me to stop (after all, all owners will have to share the electricity bill which is not fair) but I'm using this opportunity to put pressure on them (after all, EV is the new trend and we will need more and more chargers in the future) so they can study and propose solutions. I suggested two options myself which were ignored of course:

    - Since my car is hybrid, the battery is only 12KWh which cost roughly 60THB per charge, I told them that I would be happy to pay for it, they just have to add a meter on one outlet in the parking (which I would be happy to pay for) -> they refused but can't tell me the reason.

    - I proposed to contact and find solution with EV company to install chargers in our condo and then submit different proposal during co-owner meeting later this year -> no answer so far.

Do you guys have any advice for me ? Is there anything I can do to force them to move forward on the topic ? Is there any law in Thailand (existing law or in process to be released) regarding EV charging in condos ?

    Thanks in advance.

Did you and/or other owners try to offer to pay for the installation of an EV charging station at your condo? If not, that would be the smart option.

I've been saying this for years.

Start soi Buakaow, loads of trash there.

I was down there late this morning, what looked like 3 Scandinavians (one with a prosthetic leg) walking down soi Buakaow in the middle of road, harassing road users.

Another guy, elderly, no helmet riding his pcx yelling out yeehaaa.

Happy chappy but surely affected by drugs.

Talking about soi Buakhao and surrounding areas, lots of waankers crossing the road without looking without a care in the world. So many times these waankers have nearly gotten run over by motorbikes or cars because of their selfish idiotic ways. Get rid of those trash who don't bother looking before crossing. Ban them from coming to Thailand.

  12. Yes, too man old fart expats I see when I walk around who look grubby and who don't give a care in the world. Funny thing is, it's always the caucasian white dudes that are those types. Full of those types everywhere in the Pattaya/Jomtien area. I've yet to see asian grubby expats, they are usually clean and don't look like slobs.

Also get rid of those dodgy dodgy agent bribing types who don't have the money to qualify for a retirement visa too. Time for Thailand to do a purge.

The general list of visa fees is on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mfa.go.th

Thai embassies and consulates post their fees in local currency at irregular intervals when they feel that the change in the exchange rate makes it necessary. So that they don't have to adjust them daily, they build some buffer into the newly calculated fees.

Why doesn't the Thai embassies & consulates just accept payment in Thai baht instead of only the local currency? The local currency they charge is always inflated and in their favour to charge us just that extra bit more.

More wish projection. As I said earlier, you can go hang around the piers if you wish.

I happen to know a Thai contractor who works closely with such events at the ports.

But they aren't on R&R at all. They have a job to do that keeps them busy.

They can freely act as tourists whenever they've left the service and come back as tourists on their own dime.

Did you get that intel from your "Thai contractor" friend? That "Thai contractor" is asking the navy boys a lot of questions. Why does he have such an interest in the navy boys and what they are doing here instead of just focusing on his job working at the ports?

Went for a walk with our hosts down Walking Street and came across a standoff with some marines and bouncers.

Talked the marines out of it. No win there.

The marines wanted to show how tough they were with the bouncers. Both marines & bouncers like to get in fist fights. Both have more muscle than brain power, but the bouncers have the upper hand here on their own turf.

All the personnel on R&R are in civilian clothing, nobody is uniform, except when on duty.

Lucky for them. In covert undercover gear. So hopefully their wifes & gfs won't see photos of them having a good time out and about.

A few are granted some limited time for shore leave, which ain't R&R.

You seem to know a lot about what's happening with the navy boys. Do you have some secret crush on hot navy boys and are stalking their every move since their arrival?
