  1. Anyone know if the Calfornia Wow does a short term membership, ie. 2 weeks, as I like to keep fit while on holiday - I know where the jokes are going already on this :o

I usually go to Tony's but that means I have to grab a motorcycle taxi and the CW is walking distance.

    Cheers,

    JJ

Yes....But you will have to join for the month.....I am not sure but I think it is 500 baht

  2. I'll give that a go. If I'm travelling down that road, do I continue past Soi 5?

It's interesting that you posted this as I've been looking for good dining options in Jomtien. I live on the hill between Jomtien and Pattaya and would prefer to travel in the Jomtien direction rather than battle with the traffic in Pattaya but unfortunately I've not yet come across any restaurants in Jomtien that I like.

Try Rin Kitchen....soi next to the 90 baht spaghetti/jade house...between german dental and 7-11....just go doen the soi and you will see it....just the best and reasonable

  3. I just got back from having 4 fillings done at Dental Hospital BKK...suk 49....will never go any other place again. The dentist was great, workwas beautiful and only 4000 baht. I think a reasonable price for good work. Bkk-Patt Hospital is a joke and for the same money you can get top notch work done in BKK

  4. I have a retirement extension and have to make a 90 day report next week. Anybody done one lately? Was there a fee, if so, how much please?

One of the only things you will get for free here.........it is a quick and painless adventure...........enjoy it!!

  5. I have visited here for 4 years now but am new to looking at Condos here. There are so many!

I am looking to buy now, or very soon. I am looking for very high end with a good reputation, security and already finished or close to completion.... under 75 MBht....

    What would you all recommend?

Which condo building would be your dream condo to have here in Pattaya?

There really isnt too much around that is finished in your price range....maybe rent something and wait for some of the new high end condos like reflections pattaya from Major Development and get yourself a big top floor penthouse with a private swimming pool.

  6. Go shopping in Bangkok.....you can check out Siam Paragon...they have a whole floor with lots of great furniture. There are many other furniture shops on Sukhumvit in the Thong Lo area.....a much better selection than here and they will all deliver here to Pattaya.

  7. I am heading up to BKK this weekend and want to buy a gold band for my girlfriend. I have heard that chinatown is a good place to go but I have no idea. I am just looking for a shop that has good quality at a fair price. Any recommendations are welcome. I am not looking for anything over the top...just a plain simple gold ring. Also, how are the rings sold?? by weight+ labor?

    Thanks,

    Eric

  8. 400 - 500Bht is very cheap - dunno what you get for your money !!

Just spoke to a friend of Seamus who said he'd do a full service for 800Bht - special low season price. He'll sort it either the same day or the next. He's serviced mine and it's a hel_l of a lot quieter now.

I got a full flush of the inner workings...cleaned all 4 filters in the inside unit..dont really know what else could have been done but I will pass on the 800 baht special

  9. I have used Will from A1 in the past and as everybody...was really pleased. I understand he sold the business but I am not sure. I have called him and no answer...........Ideas??

What do u mean by a fan cover? I am looking for something to cover the compreessor outside - is this what you mean?

Yes...it has become brittle from age/sun and broken apart

  10. Hi,Will has sold the business and its is now run much better by a guy called Seamus who is now the owner.

He had to change the company name to A1 aircon & supplies his number is 0896087808.

    regards

    Dawson

Thanks...have you used Seamus for any service or purchases?

  11. I have tried to look around for a Daihatsu HiJet minivan and then have it converted to a passanger van. It is the same vehicle as all the Phuket taxis. I asked around when I was in Phuket and didnt get any answers. There must be someplace all these taxi companies in Phuket go to buy these and then have the work done. I would like to have seats put in..aircon...paint....music etc.....Any help is welcome

  12. I have been looking around for a nice Daihatsu HiJet...these are small minvans....they are the same cars as they use for taxis in Phuket. I have seen a few nice conversions...nice seats, new paint, sound system, aircon etc.....can anyone recommend a good shop who does this type of custom work. I have quizzed a few thais and they are not much help. One told me of a custom shop in Na Jomtien...near pattaya..where i live....................Thanks

  13. Had the cake from Foodland.. 600 Baht... absolutely disgusting.. the worst cake I have ever had in all my life.. vile! Just in case anyone was thinking of going there.

Totally agree....foodland's bakery is way overpriced and the stuff is tasteless. I do like the bakery at Carrefour.....great breads and cakes are reasonable

  14. I can highly recommend Dr. Natapat...she has many clinics in Thailand and is the owner of Apex Profound Beauty...located in RoyalGarden Shopping Mall. Her credentials are 2nd to none as she is US board certified and went to one of the best medical schools in the US and is also on the staff at Bumringrad in Bangkok. She treats many farangs as well as well as rich thais. She is in pattaya about 1 or 2 times a month. Her english is perfect and she knows what she is doing. You can call her office and they will tell you when she is going to be in pattaya. I will also mention that about ! yr. ago I needed to remove some moles from my face and happen to be in BPH and went to see Dr. Anna.....was very uncomfortable and she wanted 17k baht. I ended up going to Dr. Nat and 7k baht for the same work and she has the newest lasers in thailand

  15. As far as routing now from Miami, I prefer using AA/Cathay. You can catch an evening flight to LAX or SFO on AA, connect just after midnight in California, arrive Hong Kong early AM, and then catch a morning flight to BKK. Recently I have flown Star Alliance carriers with other routing, but Cathay is still my favorite with nice connections back to Miami, too.

Agreed. Don't know why anyone in the US would do it any other way. It's the easiest and on a quality airline (Cathay) with good flight times. That said, I recognize the connection times might be a bit tough from some cities. Still ..

I am going to Miami in Sept. and was going to fly BKK-JFK on Cathay Pacific, spend a nite in NY at a friends house and then jet blue to ft.lauderdale..........seems like going to LAX is far out of the way but I am not sure...what do you think?
