So, not only did they deliberately trash the road and district, all of which has a religious designation, but, according to the OP, we now need to wait and see if the Red Communists left any IEDs or landmines on the road. What a pack of animals this group is.

I missed any report of trashing, can someone please share some details.

Also, can't find any reporting about actual numbers, please share.

    +1

As for numbers I have heard from 30,000 to 100,000. It would be nice to have some one with some first hand knowledge.

I had heard the police acting as guards said 35,000. Seems awful low to me. But then again as another poster said they closed it down early out of embarrassment.

  2. Give it up already.

The reds are just as embarrassing as the yellows.

This is 2014 not 2010 the Yellows are history.

Why do the red shirts keep trying to deny the grass roots people by calling them yellow shirts.

Any fool knows that the Yellow shirts died out trying to start a war with Cambodia. In fact two of their leaders are in jail there.

Wake up red shirts it is the common every day grass roots people you are fighting against.

  3. Thus we have the fast food ones and the ones from Geckos and a secret place I am not going to divulge.

Not going to divulge, because you hate them so much you want them out of business ASAP? wink.png

Because the best way to accomplish that is to completely not mention it to anyone.

Not a chance of them going out of business. Their burgers are not what they are known for.

In fact they are not known and do fine with out the Thai Visa crowd. To the best of my knowledge they have been here for over 8 years. They were here when I first came to Chiang Mai those many years ago. When I finally moved here they were still here unchanged as they are today.

  4. I get a shot every month from Doctor Morgan. She say's two shot's a month would be OK.

So far I have managed with the one shot a month. All though the last two weeks are a bit more painful. The wife has a daughter who can get it for me and her husband has some experience with giving shots. Doctor Martin just explained to him how to do it so she is sure that he would do it rite.

I also get some Vitamin B12 from iHerb in the states. Occasionally I will pop one of them.

  5. Suthep - final battle

    Jatuporn - final battle

    Welcome to Thailand...

For 500 baht I can get you a second row seat. 1,000 baht for a ring side seat. All other seats 200 baht.

The preliminary will be a belly shoving match between Jatuporn and Suthep.

It will be followed up by a debate on being ruled by a convicted convict on the run from the law living in another country as to the merits of having a Thai never a convict or convicted of any thing living in Thailand and working for the good of Thailand.

Promises to be a lively debate

Closing will be is it better to reform the government where it needs reforming or pick up guns, bombs and grenades and attempt to run it that way?

Expect a standing room only crowd each standing spot will be 50 baht.

Talk of a mid show entertainment with Jatuporn doing magic card tricks and telling jokes.

    Kids free.wai.gif

  6. More importantly, Mr Jatuporn announced that the UDD will stage a mass gathering again after April 18, and asked supporters to prepare for a political fight, which may be the ‘final battle,’ in order to achieve the pro-government group’s goals. He expressed confidence that their fight will not end in failure.

First of what does he consider a mass gathering?

Secondly what do red shirts know about Democracy? I noticed he is now dropping that Democracy claim and just saying back the existing Government no reason given and last what do they have to do to prepare for a political battle when they don't know what politics is. They think it is get some money given to them every time they vote and go to a rally.

The UDD chair also slammed PDRC leader Suthep Thaugsuban for intent to install a neutral prime minister, urging the Red Shirt demonstrators to oppose the demand because it was through undemocratic means.

Jeez but it hurts to admit he is right. sad.png

Well I guess there is a first time for every thing.wai.gif

  7. Amsterdam is brilliant. He describes Thai democrats struggling to overcome the oppression of rich fat cats who bend the law for their own interest. Your only response is "Thaksin". If Thaksin and all his kin were gone would it then be okay with you if the red shirts elected someone else (they are the majority, after all)? I doubt it. Their candidate would then be "follower of Thaksin" or "successor of Thaksin". No matter what, you will never be happy with majority rule, because it will always return someone who doesn't agree with your selfish desire to exploit the poor.

The problem with democracy is, that it works as it should only, when the majority is decent and well educated,

if this is not the case we will always have a ruling of the lower educated or indecent masses

Hilarious. But at least you are explicit in your rejection of democracy. A true tory.

On the contrary, democracy is by definition majority rule. If the majority are uneducated, then rule is based on decisions of the uneducated. Does that make sense for the good of the country?

Lets take the micro-example, a family of Mum, Dad, and 3 children, Should the desires of the children govern what the family does? Should the family have chocolate ice cream for dinner every night, and pizza at other times? Move the scenario forward 20 years, and the kids are now educated. They tell Mum and Dad they want their 5+ veges per day, that Dad should dump his gas-guzzler car for an economic one, and suggest Mum take a 2 km walk every evening. Which scenario makes for a successful family?

Are you saying we do not have a democracy government. they represent only 48% of the population. Which is it we have one or we don't have one?

Question requires only one word answer.

Any more and you are trying to justify it which if the answer is an honest one needs no justification.

    My answer is No.

  8. Flat fee of 200 baht per month for water and the place is cleaned twice a week (included in price). Wifi included as well.

Bond was only 10.000 which is a refreshing change compared to the two month's worth the agencies want.

Electricity is charged at 8 baht per unit but as it is a brand new apartment that's fairly modest in size it should be OK. Brand new, efficient AC unit as well.

All in all I'm pretty happy..saw some real dumps that charge just as much in my travels researching apartments.

    Many thanks on your updating.

Always nice to hear how some one resolves a situation.

  9. Don't you know that we can turn ANY food thread into a "We love Duke's thread"? If not me, someone else will.

Just to show you, maybe I'll start a new thread on "Best place for a real British afternoon high tea?" and we'll see how long it takes before it becomes a Duke's thread.

Every time someone mentions The Duke's, I think of anywhere else I can get the order.

Such is the fame of Dukes.

Unfortunately there is the only place with an on the menus burger that has bacon and Blue Cheese for the cholesterol lover. Then again a double cheese whopper with bacon might give it a run. Both outstanding burgers in their class.

All burgers were not born the same. Different classes. Thus we have the fast food ones and the ones from Geckos and a secret place I am not going to divulge. Hint the cheese burger comes for under 100 baht with an egg on it plus bacon.giggle.gif

  10. When i look to this Forum and otherwise look to Thais in Bangkok and in Surat...hmh... beside the people who follow the different rallies on streets i would say Farangs (incl. Me) are much more high tempered than the Thais about this crisis.

Seems that most of the Thais see it what it is -a Kindergarden.

And they seems to know, the circumstances will not bring much change for the daily live anyway.

(sorry once more for my rubbish English).

For the most part I have to agree with you. How ever in the long run the Thai's will see an improvement in their life. As it is now you are rite if they don't have it in their hand now they can not see it coming.wai.gif

  11. Well that outburst meant he lost any credibility as far as I was concerned. At least one military leader has some moderation thankfully.

He hasen't lost any credibility with me yet. That is all talk. What he does in the future could change my opinion but at this point I think he is just mimicking Jatuprn and dribbeling nonsense.

It in no way takes away the good he has done rthe nation so far.

Furthermore, it is highly unlikely that millions of pro-government supporters in the north and northeast will quietly accept Mr. Suthep's effort to remove their elected government.

    Have to agree with that.

In a separate mass rally in Nakorn Pathom province yesterday, Redshirts leader Jatupon Prompan insisted that the Redshirts are willing to fight for Ms. Yingluck, and ominously warned that a "civil war" could break out of Ms. Yingluck is removed by undemocratic ways.

Typical red shirt reaction threaten violence if they don't get their way. I wish he would complete the big baby scene and threaten to hold his breath until he get's his way.

Suthep had best back off up until the last few days he was being rational the Thai way. Now he is listening to Jatuporn and trying to equal his nonsense.

But I do admit he has done a great job up to this point. Time to let the system take over. If the red shirts stage an armed revolt the Army will crush them like a bug. They learned in 2010 what being nice to them get's them.

  12. I eat McDonalds,it works for me

They work for me as a break from the higher class burgers at Burger King. More like a snack compared to the burger at Burger King. Of course you pay more for the one at Burger King. Looking forward to my hand formed char broiled hamburger at Gecko's.

Has any one had any thing to eat at the old Mike's on the moat?

Could you advise what the duds were supposed to be and how you discovered this please?

They were supposed to have been Tramadol and I found out when they didn't ease the pain. At all.

I thought Tramadol was a mild anti depressant which also acted as a muscle relaxant.

You may be thinking of Trazodone....?

You are rite. It is available here in Thailand now. I was prescribed a light dose before sleep to prevent Rapid Leg Moveement. They didn't have it when I got here and my doctor tells me that Thailand now has it.

Thanks for straitening me out. To many senior moments.

  14. Getting desperate aren't you.

What is the relationship between him and his Mum.

I know mother and son but is he taking good care of her are they speaking to each other?

You know what rumors are like I had heard he did nothing for her. I recall where he claimed he never earned any thing it was all given to him. Sounds like a weirdo to me but then again I choose common sense as a guide. Just curious as you seem to admire the man I thought you would know.

Desperate? How so? The southern triangle of corruption makes the shenanigans of Bangkok look mild in comparison. Spend some time in Surat Thani or Phuket and you will understand just how rotten the region is, how ingrained corruption and deceit is in the local culture.

In respect to J., how would I know what the relationship is between him and his mother? It's none of my business. Why would I care about how he gets along with his mother? He's a grown man, not a child. If you rely on gossip and rumour, tis your preference. I suggest you start a new business call Ok Thailand. You can be queen of the gossip columnists.

Desperate as in a thread about Jatuporn calling for a thread about a prolonged rally after Songkran and you ramble on about every thing else under the sun.

You and I both know it won't happen he will call for it but it won't last. If you want to know what a prolonged rally is grab a news paper and read about the one the anti government protestors are putting on.

As for rumors well I asked you because you seem to have intimate knowledge of the man

Jatuporn is quick with a warm smile and a handshake like a vice grip.

So rather than wonder I thought I would ask you. You avoided the question as you do every thing else that does not put a halo around PTP and red shirt's head. I know what they are like and I can understand you avoiding defending the people you like. Defiantly a lost cause but you have to save face. So I just assumed the same is true of the rumor about the way Jatuporn treats his mother.

I know for a fact that he claims every thing he has was gifts to him. That came out of his mouth. Just baiting you to see if you would deny that also.

  15. Look at the Cult of Leadership pictures hanging from their bags

    1604852_1382747435307677_838113182540457

There were a lot of posts regarding fake monks from the red supporters when monks supported Suthep and when the reds beat up a monk.

I know MGP that you have a good knowledge of Dhamma so would you be prepared to give an opinion on the monks we see in these photos with things like which sect they may belong to, any specific temple in any particular part of the country ?

They have not shaved their heads for this important public appearance, as you point out the badges on the bags seem out of place then there is the 'monk' on the right on the truck with the tats and sunglasses who looks as if he would be more at home in the BKK Hilton than a temple.

Do you mean the one smoking a cigarette?

Not a Monk expert but I thought there robe's were longer.

Have to look next time I run into them.

Mike's on Nimmen also closed it's doors a few weeks ago. It looked like they were renovating, but nothing seems to be going on there now. I assume it's a different owner but I could be wrong.

I think they remodeled about two years ago.

  17. Thankyou Suthep for all the protesting that has virtually ruined my business.

Alfred, the NOT SO Great, (businessman) you are not the only one... But I am more than willing to suffer my losses in silence... When Suthep succedes and Thailand rids itself of the Shinewatras all will not have been in vain... Rock on the Thai peoples... wai2.gif

I'm with both of you on this but my worry is that almost all the politicians (sic) here are either useless, corrupt or in most cases both that the current mess will only be sorted by a spell of military rule. No one wants it, it doesn't put Thailand in a good light but it may be necessary for a while for the sake of the people and the country.

I like it but I do have a reservation. Thailand never did give Abhist a chance.

A minority government dependent on Thaksin trained people.

One man say no we will not support you and 20 seats gone along with his position.

The man had to many cooks in the kitchen. He was not given a chance.

  18. Pls tell me where you read it will be guerilla warfare.

Also, do you really think Thais are truly capable of a 'respectable standard' of guerilla warfare? They can't even get close to the stumps with a grenade! wink.png

On the first part, you will just have to do your homework. On the second, I fear a Southern type of guerrilla warfare. Are Thai's doing this or hired guns. Does it matter?

You might want to do your own home work. The southern gorilla fighters are religious fanatics. The red shirts are just a bunch of uneducated people with nothing better to do than follow the pied piper they have no intention of killing their neighbor. Thaksin will have to hire more mercenaries for that.

Do your own homework. Money or cause, a killer is a killer.

    Got to you I see.

the ray of truth shines brightly on you and you wander of into no where.

You make as much sense as money or a cause rape is still rape.cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifclap2.gif

  19. He's getting tiresome as well as egotistical.

Well I have to admit he is getting tiresome. Amazing he could keep up the pace with out him the movement would have died and we would be faced with a government looking to steal another 2.2 billion baht. That is just this year. Next year they would be back for more.

As for egotistical well I can see that when I look at all the good he has done the country. I would probably get that way my self if I could do that much for the country under the odds that he had working against him.

I don't mind him being egotistical but I do believe he has done his part and it is time to let the system work. The system dares not allow favoritism or nepotism in here as it knows the country is no longer going to allow it.

Do you think you would be humble?

  20. From what I read, it will be guerrilla warfare, not like in 2010. It puts Prayuth, the defender,in a tough position.

  21. He has got carried away at this point.

However it is interesting that his group are talking about moving on with a reform committee while all Jutaporn and the reds can talk about is civil war and a judicial coup.

Thaksin know realizes the army wont step in and give him the coup he has been pushing for so now the excuse to bring out the armed reds will be a judicial coup.

One side wants to go forward the other back.

Totally agree with you. Suthep's motives are just and honest. How ever he is proposing a illegal self serving method to get them. When and if Yingluck is tossed out on her ear to do what she does best Photo Op's and dumb statements I am sure the government has a system in place to set up the type government he proposes It is all right for him to recommend a new interim PM but it is also OK for others to recommend one. It is not his place to choose one.

He has done the country a tremendous service against what at first seemed to be over whelming odds. He has made the nation aware of the lack of concern the PTP have for them the corruption they have and the inbreeding with nepotism.

Plus with the weak showing the red shirts have come up with this weekend pretty much sounded the death bell for them. People are tired of their intimidation and violence and are leaving them in the hundreds of thousands.

It is time for Suthep to let the system take it's course. The system knows full good and well that favoritism (nepotism) will just bring back the righteous indignation of the grass roots people and civil war will break out.

Suggest but take no power or authority.
