  1. I'm sure to be treated like that one day. Baby'ish post
  2. This is so true Let the silly old fools sit down when posting.
  3. My wife thinks mine are pretty cute.
  4. I think we all know the answer to that one.
  5. You can't say that now. Songkran is or has become a tourist attraction. Where else in the world can you go to pretend to shoot at anyone and everyone. It's a fun time (for most).
  6. I use Sketchup for all my jobs. It's good for architectural, woodworking and mechanical designing. It's a 3D drawing system which can produce 2D printoff's. There are some pre-drawn models which I find not useful. But the most important thing is: It's free!
  7. This is simply not good enough. I am ambivalent about Songkran but, because I don't see any fun in it, I avoid it like the plague. Water throwing revelers brought Buriram to a complete standstill the other night. There were several ambulances, emergency lights flashing, trying to do their job but could get nowhere. In these circumstances I find it not difficult to understand the frustration and anger felt by some who need to travel through towns for any reason. Revelers should limit their activities so that non-revelers can drive unimpeded to get where they might wish to go. Whilst understanding the anger of some motorists, there is no way I can find any sympathy for whatever happens to a driver who deliberately drives into crowds no matter how thoughtless and inconvenient the behaviour of such crowds is.
  8. There is a whole new way of getting a quart into a pint pot so to speak. CATL have come up with a new way to get more electrons moving in and out of lithium batteries and which also seems to allow greater density of chemically reactive components into the same volume of battery. This technology improvement is said to give a BEV (battery electric vehicle) a range in the order of 400 miles (643 kM). These new batteries could help solar ESS also because they will be smaller and fewer in number which, in theory, should make ESS less costly. The fly in the ointment, there's always one of them, is that this new technology is unlikely to be in mass production 'til the end of this year. The full story is here https://www.catl.com/en/news/6015.html

  9. John Deer ceased production last year
  10. Pumps are generally supplied with a lead and plug already fitted and it's usually a bit shorter than you would like so it almost makes it to the power socket
  11. John Deer Tractors sell well...........
  12. And there was me thinking one of our village girls was going to win. Ah well. Perhaps next year.
  13. Give TAT a chance. They'll soon put that right.............
  14. Absolutely and totally off topic:- I did some work at Wookey Hole mill for Thorn EMI Datatech (the mill was quite high tech at that time) who made data recorders for satellite receivers. That was about 1985. Myself and a couple of other contractors used to pop up the hill to the Priddy Inn for friday "lunch". First time I ever tried Thatchers Cider and was an instant convert. That recorder contract was later transferred to the main Wookey Hole Road TEMI site and my contract reinstated for skills continuity.
  15. In the mid '60's, the older buildings at BAe Filton had signs on the roof to warn people not to walk on the asbestos roof but to use the duck boards instead. Since that was a bit pre-google I guess they had no way of telling if they were using incorrect terminology. One day, in the not too distant future, every time the tide comes in they may earn the name I called them then you will be glad you fitted them and you can laugh at your neighbours who are without.
  16. Didn't they used to be called "duck boards"? Don't forget to make your connections prior to bolting down the panels unless, that is, you have a team of powerful, big red ants standing by. Also hoe are you fixing your panels to the frome? There doesn't appear to be much hand space between panels and roof.
  17. Wrong question. You don't want to know where it is now ........... you want to know where it will be tomorrow.
  18. The police seem to have had this well organised. They knew where the criminals were and went in ready for a fire fight. So why didn't they act on individual cases weeks or maybe months ago? There was police activity in a village about three kilometres from my house. A drug dealer was shot and killed in an ensuing gunfight.
  19. And there you have it. That's another way of saying he took his eye off the ball or, if you want it simplified, he didn't take into account the probable response of his customers. Not a good company CEO. What is "tefft"?
  20. You're probably right. I would imagine there would be a lot of work and cost involved getting the road surfaces up to scratch. Pit stop locations. Arranging spectator viewpoints and many other things which would be needed to attract the motor sport followers.
  21. You're being a bit over the top aren't you.
  22. You are indeed but like I said. "That seems to be the way of things"
  23. Thanks for that Fruit Trader. This is new information for me. It would seem I have been kept in the dark for the past three years.
  24. That's a bit close to the truth. However I suspect this was all planned well in advance and a new footbridge was included in the overall scheme. Pity the plans were not made public, but then that seems to be the secretive way of things with government projects.
