  1. And yet if something goes amiss there are standing instructions which tell you to go into your local branch who will sort it out for you. Also you can optionally use a phone number if your not hearing impeded.
  2. Yep. Thinking a 90 day report would be of interest to Thailand if your not actually in the country is a ludicrous idea. "if staying in the Kingdom for more than 90 days, that alien has a duty to report his/her residence to an Immigration Bureau officer every 90 days."
  3. Exactly who is responsible for deciding what may or what may not be unsafe for the Thai populace. There is, I think, a lack of transparency here.
  4. Love it. "Bonking"? Those were the days...........
  5. That's an old MFI proverb Assemble everything first then have a look at the instructions to see why there's a bit of something + three screws left over.
  6. It would be nice if a few others on the forum would say the same......
  7. A fair bit of heat will be generated by the charge controllers which will be either inside or external to the inverters. They and the inverters will need a bit of air circulation. Having air con. is a good idea especially for the batteries. I use lead carbons which are characterised for 25°C but reasonably content up to 30°. The same applies to most other chemistries the exception being flow batteries. I use the fans of my inverter to duct the room air directly out through a mesh protected hole in the wall. Fresh air comes in through another mesh protected hole. I should explain that my system is all separates and the relevant bits are scattered about the walls in the 2.5 x 1.2 metre room.
  8. Well trained and loyal sources close to him assert that it's solely for health reasons and he will definitely be returning to Thailand to face the full force of the naive law.
  9. Stupid question but is the pump actually turning or is it just sitting there humming away to itself. It is just possible that the rotor is stuck after lack of use. If this is the case then a screwdriver will start it. There should be access to a slot in the back end of the motor shaft for that purpose.
  10. 555 Yes we do seem to move in different circles don't we. Viva la diferénce.
  11. Lots of stereotyping going on here. All the Australians I have met are good non-alcohol-drinking people I could expect to meet anywhere in the world. As far as the French are concerned I wouldn't care to be on the wrong side of them. They can be as aggressive as anyone else.
  12. Good information. It is also of some note that, at that time, Britain and Ireland were not separated from what is now Europe by the North sea. Any Mesolithic man woman or child could walk into the UK Visa Free. Then the sea came followed a few thousand years later by politicians from Italy.
  13. I think you missed the point. It would be difficult to find "indigenous" people of the UK. For many that would be "true blue anglo saxon" which is definitely not indigenous. The UK has had many invasions over the past couple of thousand years and integrated many different nationalities. So what exactly is meant by indigenous? "Originating or naturally occuring" doesn't quite fit the bill in my understanding.
  14. Apart from the occasional anti farang comment, Anutin would get my vote. He is an engineer having got his degree in America. However, choosing someone that has the country's interests at heart is another matter.
  15. Nice bit of kit. It would make good power in places like the severn estuary.
  16. I'm surprised and pleased to see these things are still about, I have three in my barn but only one in current use. It is making about $2,000 per day so if anyone is interested in the other two I can let them go for a modest sum of $20,000 each. PM me if interested
  17. Why should anyone stand up as you say. By standing up their income would be significantly affected.
  18. My minor correction We keep it well hidden so only the people with very odd thought processes can find it
  19. Helen. Is she one of the old oares people have been talking about?
  20. Send it to Buriram desert please. I had been hoping to catch the remnant edge of that storm whatever but as yet......nothing
  21. Yes I suppose it does seem like that. However. The UK banks have been told by the UK govt. to be more diligent and help prevent customers losses due to scams and other fraudulent activities. To this end the banks are now on the lookout for unusual transactions. If such occurs, then the said bank will act by freezing the account. In my opinion it would be better if the banks were to hold the transaction pending confirmation by the payee using OTP or some similar method. The payee needs to be made fully aware of the scam possibility before payment is released.
  22. Storm in a teacup. This storm has been hanging around off the coast of Vietnam for days now. Granted it's a big 'un but I think it will do as they all do an peeter out once it makes landfall. Hopefully it will bring some much needed rain to my paddy fields.
  23. Not sweet indeed. However, if your funds originate from a UK bank, it is possible the transferee could get caught by the new bank rules which are that any unusual transfers beyond a certain amount (£500 I think) will trigger an event which could freeze the account and unfreezing it would require an in person visit to a branch of that bank. I would love it if someone could categorically confirm that is not the case
