  1. I was in Australia last week ans was bombarded by elections news, whatever channel I tuned in.

    .

And the alternative to Little Johnny did not convince me at all.

And obviously did not convince the majority of Australian.

At least, it shows that elections in Australia can not be bought...

packer, the man who owns the majority of the commercial media in australia publically stated that he supported john boy.

and he has a track record of making those assets conform to his bias.

packer maybe physically has only one vote, but his influence surely numbers in the hundreds of thousands.

From memory and studying sociology of the media, in oz (going back a few years now :o), no one person can own more than about seventy percent of the pop of oz (which I guess is a substantial amount). It’s not a secret that Packer supports the Liberal Party, allegedly Howard has even given him preferential treatment (esp in 1996 with the cross media rules banning ownership of TV and newspapers). However one can not neglect the other players, such as Murdoch (whose son chose a better looking wife :D), Fairfax, Black etc. True, money talks but as a mate said to me “the punters just didn’t trust an untried Latham”, and can’t help believing that, esp after everything oz has gone through.

  2. guess most guys would like to meet a chic that can balance a pint on her head  :D  :D

Sure Nat, as long as you can balance it.

Do you know what men like?

They drink, get drunk but usually do not like their "girl" to drink.

    Not fair, isn't it... :D

Whereas I like a man who can drink me under the table and then hold his liquor :o:D:wub:

  3. I think it's a combination of how your skin is and how the product works.

    Have to agree with that.

We all have different skin types and products react differently to each type. I have a friend who simply uses water and soap :o yet has the most beautiful skin (quoting the beautician :D ) for a thirty something year old. Then there’s me (a twenty something year old :D ) who’s tried most products and found the love of her life skII :D. I do believe some of us are slaves to marketing and won’t look twice at an item that hasn’t appeared in Vogue, as we like to believe in “quality” (esp if it accompanies a lovely price tag – been guilty of this myself). However, good skin is not simply due to the products we use but to a number of factors such as genetics, diet, environment, etc (we all know the horrors reflected in the mirror after a good night out). When it comes to the long term usage of a product am not sure of the effects – guess there are two possible outcomes: 1) Skin gets better and better; or, 2) like antibiotics, one becomes immune and the product no longer works.

  4. hey girls, check out www.sasa.com for online purchase and international delivery.

u get the cheapest price for skII in malaysia. thats what the sales person told me and i think she's right.

you will see the difference on ur skin probably after a month or two...

Wei thanks for that – you seriously are a greater wealth of info regarding skII than I am (I already owe you :o ). :D

  5. As much as I hate to admit it, AFL is a part of my life, but this grand final I didn't give a flying <deleted> who won as no Victorian team was playing :D. However, as in the past (when a non Victorian team won), I resented the fans running around Melbourne, especially Lygon Street (as Adelaide people always do :o), with their banners and bravado, but no fashion sense! :D:D

  6. I think 'sluts' are people, men or women, who have no standards of with whom they will sleep for pure self gratification.

So what are people who simply resort to "self" gratification deemed as? :D:D

Looking at the results it would appear that it’s better to shag more than 50 but less than 10,000, than just up to 50 :o

Personally like Old Blue Eyes' criteria for why the lady is a tramp...however it encompasses most women these days :D :D

  7. But as a Farang female living here:

Do we find Farang men attractive? ###### yes.

Do we find Thai men attractive? ###### yes.

We are all attractive in our own way. It just takes time for some people to see it.

Couldn't have put it better myself :D:D

Have met plenty of good and bad men here, so try not to generalise. However :D I will say that my thoughts about the d*ckhead :o farang men, I’ve met here, wouldn’t differ much if I’d met them back home – personality is quite a stable trait :D:wub:

  8. Hey everyone, this original post is from last year & I know that Nat has definately moved on since then & has nothing to do with this guy anymore, but it's good to know that there are people out there who care enough to post.

Thanks Boo :o and everyone who was kind enough to post. As Boo mentioned this is from a long time ago and is now gone and buried – have definitely moved on and am very happy :D

  9. I know Kho Samui and Kho PiPi is one "hot" place to book a Thai boyfriend and I have seen a few farang girls engage in "bargainings" with local Thais for a few nights of love. Nothing wrong with that.

My questions is: do any of you girls have had experience with those type of Thai guys ? if so, how much was it ? did you enjoy it ? would you do it again ?

    Finally, the long-awaited answers :o

BRIT GIRLS WHO PAY THAIS FOR NO-STRINGS SEX

    Mirror - Aug 16 2004

    By Hannah Duguid

The teenage woman takes a long look at the menu. She makes her choice and the waiter disappears to fetch her order. He returns with a fit, beautiful, young man.

Ruth Evans is 19 and from Manchester. She is in a male brothel in Thai capital Bangkok - and has just ordered a prostitute for the evening.

She will buy him drinks, they will chat and dance. Later, if she wants, she can pay him ฃ22 (1,600 baht in the local currency) to go back to her hotel and have sex with her.

"It's a real power trip," says Ruth. "A lot of girls come out here looking for sex with a Thai man. This is safer than going round the bars and picking one up."

There are some 20 British girls - mostly students - in the brothel tonight, toying with the idea of paying a man for sex.

"It's something different. All the blokes pay for it so why can't we?" says Carly Purdy, 23, from Hemel Hempstead, Herts.

The sex workers are tested for HIV every four or five weeks. If they do not turn up for work then it means they have had a positive result. Each bar has one or two cases each month.

In other brothels, men wear hotpants with a number badge. Here they wear suits, which makes the place feel less sleazy. The guys move around the bar flirting with the girls and checking they have everything they want. Every hour there is a floor show where they take their shirts off and get up on stage to dance.

They all have perfect, lean bodies.

Charlie Barndon, 23, from Newcastle, says: "It's guaranteed good sex with no strings."

Ruth buys her bloke a drink and asks him to kiss her. A two-minute snog costs her 70p (50 baht).

Louise Fordham, a 31-year-old from Southend, and Gillian Kitrick, 50, from London, are seasoned sex tourists. They both teach English in Bangkok and regularly haunt the boy bars.

Gillian says: "I'd been in Bangkok for a week or so when a waiter approached me and asked me if I wanted to take him home. He was 22 years old and absolutely beautiful.

"He came with me and I paid for him for four days. It's a nice safe business transaction. I know plenty of women here who get bored and horny - so they buy a boy for the night."

When women find a prostitute they like, they tend to keep him on for a while.

Gillian is with Tong. He's a 31-year-old from a remote Thai village who she met in Throb - a bar in Boyz Town, Pattaya. The area is a resort two hours south of Bangkok, notorious for its sex bars.

Every night Tong strips to a gold G-string and performs a synchronised swimming show in a huge fish tank in the bar. Like all the males on offer, his body is in perfect shape.

He is for sale to men and women. Most clients are gay men and 80 per cent of the working boys are straight. They get very excited when a woman comes in looking for trade.

Gillian explains: "If you like a boy then you make eye contact with him. They won't approach you first. If you want to leave the bar with them you have to pay the bar a fine to make up for their absence."

The bar fine in Throb is ฃ4 and sex with a guy like Tong will set you back ฃ7 - 500 baht - for a quick one or ฃ14 for the night. Gillian has been with Tong for a year. They meet every weekend and when they go out she pays for everything.

She says: "I don't mind giving him money. I earn ten times his salary. Although it's not just about money for him. Being seen with a Western woman is good for his status.

"I like being with him because he's so affectionate. He's young and fun. He makes me feel attractive and sexy.

"He has a beautiful body. When we're in bed he's hungry for me. We've had sex five times in one morning before. It makes me feel good.

"He doesn't speak much English but I don't need him for intellectual conversation. I have friends who I can have meaningful conversations with."

All the boys are looking for a regular arrangement with a foreign woman. Pip Johnson, 35, and her husband Jimmy, 43, are also in Throb. She is an attractive blonde and has her arm around a good-looking young Thai man. A stunning Thai girl is draped over Jimmy.

Pip and Jimmy cruiseThey have been to

At Christmas, they will be coming back for two months. They leave their two teenage sons, from Jimmy's first marriage, at home with their grandparents.

At home they have anPip says: "For 10 years I paid for sex with girls out here. But last year I wanted a change so I tried buying a boy. When I told the bar what I wanted, I was mobbed. I took one boy and kept him for two weeks. This holiday I've had the same boy, Nik.

"He's 27 and I'll keep him for the holiday. I pay him at the end. I'll give him a huge tip. It's 1,000 baht a night but I'll give him 2,000. When I paid the last boy he was so grateful he cried.

"The men here are more pliable than English men. They're athletic and will do anything.

"Nik makes sure that I have three orgasms before he comes.

"He'll always do whatever I want. I'm totally in control. There's no complaining or whingeing.

"Nik has a perfect body and he treats me like a queen.

"In Thailand, prostitutes know how to make you feel like you're worth something. They're so attentive. I'll go out for dinner with Nik and he's always got an eye on me making sure that I'm okay. It's more than sex. It's about getting to know him as a person - although I don't have a strong emotional attachment to him. I could leave him tomorrow."

Jimmy and Pip rent a two-bedroom apartment. One for Jimmy and his prostitute and one for Pip and her boy. They used to have sex with their different partners together in the same bedroom but the local girls were uncomfortable having intercourse in front of a Thai man. In the flat, Nik is shy with Jimmy and only speaks when he is spoken to.

Jimmy says: "When I first saw Pip with another man, I had a problem with it. I didn't mind seeing her with girls but with a man I felt threatened and jealous.

"I had to get over it though - otherwise I'd have looked like a right hypocrite."

Pip claims: "Doing this has made our relationship stronger.

"Jimmy and I have been married for five years but I was his mistress for six years before he left his first wife.

"He's always been a womanizer and this way I know what's going on.

"There are no secrets and we have plenty to laugh about and spice up our sex life when we get home. No one at home knows.

"A few years ago people found out that we'd picked up girls in Thailand and there was a real scandal. Jimmy's mates were okay with it but I lost a few girlfriends.

"We know other couples who come out here and pay for sex. One pair came out with their 26-year-old son.

"Most couples get a girl between them. The husbands can't handle it if their wife wants to buy a man."

Kevin Quill is the British owner of Throb. He says: "I see more and more women coming in looking for sex.

"Two or three a month take a boy home. It's mainly older women who pay for it but younger women are into it too.

"It's not out of desperation - some of them are really attractive. They just want to experience something different.

"These boys know exactly what a woman wants and the women get a kick out of paying for it."

  10. Men want sex. Women want a relationship. Sweet young things are, admittedly, prime for sex. No argument. But young men are simply too immature for women 40 or more. There is nothing in common to form the basis of a relationship.

(Warning: long post, read at own peril)

    Q. What's the difference between a 40 year-old man, and a 40 year-old woman?

    A. A 40 year-old woman dreams of having children, a 40 year-old man dreams of dating them.

Scenario (quite common in some parts): Picture a single (either divorced or has been in a serious relationship) professional male in his 40’s, who is financially and emotionally secure. He has his hobbies and physically looks after himself. Also, all his needs (apart from the sexual ones) are met by himself, his family and friends. He goes out one evening and his eyes lock with a gorgeous stranger across the room – sparks fly and they meet (this is starting to sound like a trashy novel with Fabio on the cover :D ). The woman is half his age, but the attraction is mutual and they have a great night of guilt free sex and go their separate ways. Most people wouldn’t see anything wrong with this scenario, right? Now lets turn the tables, imagine instead of a 40 something year old man, this is a woman with a man half her age :D. She would probably be described as promiscuous or a cradle snatcher, whereas he’d be described as preferring “generationally differential relationships” :D.

Now instead of the young woman and older man (in the scenario) going their separate ways, after the night of passion, they agree to catch up again and start a relationship. There is a possibility that the woman would be considered a “gold digger” (just look at some of the other threads or the Anna Nicole Smith saga :o) – however it would generally be acceptable in society. Some would even put it down to the Electra complex – a simple case of penis envy (well not if it’s a katoey  ). Now lets turn the tables again, what if it was an oedipal relationship? The woman would probably be considered depraved, a sexual deviant and an air of desperation attributed to her for resorting to younger men – even perhaps that there must be something wrong with her for not being able to find someone her own age. Noticing a pattern :D – the stigma is quite sexist really (could possibly be attacked for that statement and labelled a feminazi -_- ).

The Mrs Robinson phenomenon is growing in popularity. Empowerment is not only occurring in the workplace but also in the bedroom. So is it purely physical and sexual? Are women in their prime shagging virile young man just for the sake of it and the pleasure? Partly, but think there’s more to it. Apart from the ego boost one experiences (regardless of gender) from being fancied, especially by someone younger, there are also the fun and romantic aspects. A survey revealed the main reasons for dating were fun and companionship. We all have our criteria (which are relative) when searching for a partner, such as mutual interests, values, ideals, humour etc. So does this automatically exclude the younger male? Not necessarily, but obviously maturity and life experience are important factors, especially since women supposedly mature faster than men. However, I’m sure there are plenty of males in their twenties who would argue they’re just as mature as their 40 something year old counterparts – reminds me of a joke, “Why is psychoanalysis quicker for a man than a woman? Cause when it’s time to go back to his childhood he’s already there (sorry couldn’t help myself :().

Seriously though, if two individuals are attracted to each other and are on the same wavelength then should age matter (obviously of legal age)? It doesn’t seem to be much of an issue for a man to be with a younger woman, so why should it be one for a mature woman with a younger man? I do believe it is partly due to women’s perceived societal roles – of which indulging in the pleasures of young men is not one, tends to contradict the role of motherhood :). The stigma is one which has been socially constructed, but is slowly being broken down - all I can say is “here’s to you Mr Robinson”. :)

  11. Does cyberspace bring out the worst in people's nature?

In regards to forums I wouldn’t necessarily say it brings out the worst in people, I’m a right bitch in real life but coming on here gives me a chance to be a nice person :D just joking. I think more to the fact cyberspace can be a playground for an individual’s alter-ego(s) and the personalities they normally wouldn’t display due to moral, social and legal constraints. Due to the anonymity one has in cyberspace it’s the perfect place to let the demons out. It allows Mr Hyde to run amuck without tarnishing Dr Jekyll’s lofty reputation. Pondering this, one can not help wondering how wide the gap really is between the public and the private persona. :D

This now leads into the “online” versus “real life” personality discussion. Are all forum users suffering from a “dissociative disorder”? I hope not but there are a few out there :D . For many there is a splitting of identity between what one usually presents to others in the physical world and what one likes to create in the cyberworld. One is not necessarily less "real" than the other. All are aspects of one's identity, although some may be hidden or unconscious aspects.

Dissociation is a common phenomena in cyberspace. It is a well known fact that people use the internet to express various aspects of their personalities. Some people even go as far as creating a specific online personality. They seem to have the same conscious control over the kind of wish fulfillment that fuels dreams. Interestingly individuals tend to express their shadow self (Jungian terminology for alter-ego) in dreams or other states of consciousness. This is where our anima or animus (equivalent to yin and yang) are kept in balance if not properly done so during waking consciousness – in a way cyberspace is becoming that “new place” (a place to dump our mental garbage  ). I remember reading a paper that compared cyberspace to dreaming and the similarities were alarming – the net might be turning into another state of consciousness (very visible at any internet cafe ie all the zombies -_- ).

The above has tended to focus more on the innate traits and qualities of the forum user, but the wording of George’s question is more environmentally / situationally focused ie the environment (cyberspace) brings out the worst in people (someone has a positive outlook :D – guess we aren’t all inherently bad :( ). So do people display nastiness due to their environment? Absolutely – the forum is a meeting place (an environment) just like any other and a rather small one that can get rather cramped. Apart from the differing opinions due to background, nationality, gender etc there is what I like to call the battery hen syndrome – basically it’s being cooped up in a small environment (eg the forum), so one starts pecking at everything and everyone. Then there are obviously the antagonists (a mixture of trait and situational components) who like to stir, for who knows what reason. Unfortunately, doubt very much things will change as every Tom, Dick and Harry has access to the net and to the forums on it – guess in these instances “netmania” takes on a completely different meaning :o:) .

  12. I have noticed that there's plenty of discrimination regarding the nationality of the teachers. To my disgust, I have found out that a Pakistani colleague of mine is getting only about 60 percent of what I am earning and she told me that Thai teachers get even less.

    Hi Amanda

I know this is an awful thing to be occurring, but the scary thing is that it’s quite common, esp for the Filipino staff. I feel mostly for the thai staff who do so much with little reward or appreciation :o .

  13. :D Sorry about the title, couldn't resist taking the mickey :o

Now to the serious stuff. I have just spent a few days on Phuket for a wedding and birthday :D. Managed to escape the party, I was with, for a bit of “me” time and went for a quiet stroll along the beach. I couldn’t help noticing the similarities between the “boys” working on Patong beach to those on Samet. This obviously got my mind working (I know a rarity :D ) and remembered that Cleo Odzer gave the “Samet boys” a special mention (and praised them) in Patpong Sisters, especially about how different they were (from memory believe it was how western they were).

Now I am taking into consideration that this was written over a decade ago, but really do not think there is much difference between these boys and those on the other islands. I understand that most are there for career (more accurately job) reasons, but the sociologist in me can’t help overanalysing the situation and even going as far as to say that these boys have developed a "subculture" of their own. The similarities astounded me, apart from similar dress, tattoos, piercings and hairdos, they all seem to have developed a similar speech habit eg. some have something that resembles a cockney accent as they reel lines such as “allo sexy” or “oi oi savaloy” .

I didn’t get the opportunity to befriend the locals (had to entertain and prevent people from getting ripped off -_- ) so couldn’t confirm my speculations. Have spent a bit of time on the other islands, a few years ago, but didn’t bother making any real observations (my mind was in holiday mode). So now am curious about the tendencies and behaviours of the so called “island boys” - who knows, with a bit of investigation I might even earn myself a PhD :D:(.

  14. My top 3 favourite cities are Bangkok, London and Sydney... Was that worth mentioning?

Shouldn’t it be top 5 (as in High Fidelity) :D:D. Bangkok (in a weird way) and London (definitely) are two of my favs – along with a heap of others :o. Who knows Scamp it may have been worth mentioning as a chain reaction could start :D.

  15. hmmm. I wonder if my husband would notice a couple hundred missing when I make my next trip? I will be in BKK one full day, possibly two. Definite potential here!

Hee...hee with a little coaxing it shouldn’t be too hard to convince him to make it an all expenses paid trip :o:D

  16. Melbourne must have been excluded from this survey otherwise it would have won hands down! People who voted Sydney must enjoy gridlock traffic, no public transportation system that works properly, unfriendlies, and ghetto type living as mentioned by Stumonster.

Totally agree :D esp about the unfriendliness. Melbournians are a lovelier bunch of people and according to Vogue, style and fashion begins there and deteriorates the further north one goes :D. It also still ranks as the number one city (along with Vancouver and Vienna) for expats to live, well according to the Economist Intelligence Unit survey.

ps this post is completely biased as am a Melbournian and cringe that Sydney got one over us :o

  17. For chic books.... I like Sophie Kinsella, Marian Keyes and Canadace Bushnell.

I gather you meant 'chick' books, not 'chic' books. Or are you just pulling our legs here? Do you also have the complete collection of 'Sex And the City' on DVD?

Nothing wrong in exploring the mind of a woman, however it can get a bit confusing at times :o. Candace Bushnell is the creator of that fab series, but find her books a bit too “New Yorkie”. When it comes to postmodern chick lit can’t go past Helen Fielding.

  18. I just got back from Phuket and the weather was fine – even got sun kissed. The past few days have been a bit overcast, but still hot and the uvs quite strong. Some pasty pommy mates :D down for a wedding were deceived by the weather. They didn’t think they’d get burnt when it was overcast cause they couldn’t see the sun :o – they didn’t heed my warnings and turned into crispy English bacon :D .

If you want a laugh check out Prasoot the Elvis impersonator at the Phuket bar (Patong Beach Hotel – I think that’s what it’s called, either way you can’t miss him as he performs outside) – think he’s a legend :D. Have fun.

  19. We're getting a good selection of names now, only need a couple of the birds to post as well :D

Prefer being called "chick", ok babe :D:D

The more the merrier is my motto - it would be great if more thai females posted in here :D

Believe "girl" usually refers to a young or unmarried woman and even though it is fitting for some :o it doesn't accurately describe the rest. How about something like "Ladies Lounge"? This might even result in only attracting gentlemen posters
