  1. BANGKOK: -- THE NUMBER of passengers using the BTS Skytrain yesterday was so great that operators at BTS stations such as Mo Chit, Siam, Asok, Sala Daeng, Chidlom had to open the gates and allow travellers to pass through without buying a ticket.

That would of killed them worse than any bomb. Public safety comes a distant last to the baht, never forget that in Thailand.

They would of been going mental, thinking of all those lost fares.

If there is no control, the mass could accidentally push some people off the platform onto the rails.

    Just imagine.

  2. On Sunday, Ms Yingluck told reporters that elections must take place, and urged protesters to express their views at the ballot box.

She said: "If we don't hold on to the democratic system, what should we hold on to?"

"If you don't accept this government, please accept the system," Ms Yingluck added.

    Her skin so thick.

Didn't she understand that the "People" don't want the current system which is "Created by Thaksin for Thaksin" to ensure Thaksin wins every time.

The "People" want to changeit to a 100% fair and 100% corruption free system thought up by the "People" as presented by our Supreme Secretary General Suthep.

This new system will select good clean fair people from ALL walks of life, including but not limited to: Professors, Doctors, Lawyer, CEO, Businessmen, Investors, Judges, Actors, Homemakers, etc.

  3. When a society installs an unfair government, revolt and revolution always follow.

    By whom?

The overwhelming majority who installed it?

Unfair governments are usually installed by a minority populous. Revolt comes from the repressed people.

    Reform reform reform.

Who in Sept 2006 wrote this Constitution that so badly need a reform?

I guess it must be the big bad wolf Thaksin.

  4. Here we go again!!thumbsup.gif Another thread where posters are fighting each other about who are "the rightest of the right". Most of them sadly with limited knowledge of Thai society as a whole and even less when it comes to politics!! But good entertainment!!coffee1.gif

May I suggest a solution to the political divide:

    attachicon.gifmarieantoinetteexecute-a8b7aa02f3a17f0904724853bbfc83dc2b9c738a-s6-c30.jpg

    Bye bye amart!!

Be careful what you post. You may be charged with LM under 112, and sent to 5 years in jail per post.

The picture you post is the beheaded of Marie Antoinette Queen of France and of Navarre.

  5. I wonder how many "Thai's" realize that the "Chinese" have colonized them and own the country now?

    Very very few.

The other thread about the businessmen of the year made me chuckle. Really quite sad. When the wool is finally pulled back it may be quite a shock.

For a country so proud never to have been colonized they seem to have a bit of a blind spot on that score, but at least the "Thai-Chinese" understand "business" a bit better than some "Thai's".

This is from the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/1514916.stm

"Some 80 years ago, Thailand's King Rama VI called the Chinese the "Jews of the East". Across the region, they have faced much discrimination, often deeply resented for their wealth. In Manila, the community are often targeted by kidnappers."

I think now they are fighting back.

  6. Bangkok Post said the security officials have estimated 270,000, and we all know being in the control of the government that the quote will be definitely played down.

So was it the big million + ??

    Possibly.

Bluesky was reporting 3.5 million. police reported 135,000. so somewhere int he middle is probably correct. I would say about a million or more!

I would tend to agree with that.

I have been in 100,000 (and upwards) crowds on a few occasions in my time, namely Glastonbury festival, Wembley Stadium concerts etc...

I have stood at the top of Olympia watching 100,000 people come up from Wembley Stadium, and they were cleared within 15 minutes. But here they have been 1 hour + crossing a bridge, and just one part of the protests.

So based on experience and the photos we have from different venues, I think an easy 1 million minimum. Not sure about 3.5 million, but a safe mill.

3.5 million is still short of the 5 ,million that came on 9-Dec (said BBC). Here is the proof:

RT @LilMsEditor: Haha. “@RichardBarrow: 4pm BBC World now saying 150,000 on the streets of #Bangkok. Rally stage still saying BBC said 5 million protesters”

  7. Having FAILED to remove the govt by any of his moving feasts of final, absolute deadlines, he is now ThREATENING those who do wish to participate in the democratic process. What a sad and sorry excuse for someone meant to be serving the interests of the people ( corruption, insurrection and murder charges notwithstanding).

Yesterday's rally was a major flop for Suthep . It achieved nothing, so now he reverts to the previous policy of intimidation and implied violence. I wouldn't trust this guy for a second

So you think Yingluck has more credibility ...

How many promises has she completed?

Additionally, I am not a big beliver on the elections here in Thailand, it's widely known how the red buying votes...

But even the poor rice farmers also been cheated of the promised money, so the dissatisfaction is increasing even among them.

So, let's theorize, suppose there is no vote buying, which party will win the elections then?

    DEM for sure.

    Justification from last election:

PT get 15 millions vote = 7.5 real votes + 7.5 bought votes (my estimates of 50:50)

DEM get 11 million vote = 11 real votes.

100,000 in 15 mins equal to 111 person per second. NOT possible.

  9. Here in Chiangmai city was the first night with no fans on, pajamas and extra blanket for the kids.

Actually I love the cooler weather. Still glorious during the day and nice and cool too. Saving on power bill is an extra little bonus.

,... and yet this is a country where they still refuse to put heaters in new cars. The explanation for this by the dealers (happened twice now with last two car purchases) is "oh sir,.. sorry but you do not need heater in car in Thailand because Thailand very hot country"!

That may be so in summer,.. but in winter NOT,.. even driving on the highway at night from BKK to CM the interior fogs up because the external glass area is much colder than that inside.

But will they listen or will they change???

Some of the higher priced cars have heaters in them here....

My car (Opel Omega) have heated seats.

  10. I agree. Like I say in past forum, Suthep has no idea how it want it to reform and how he want the whole thing to stop. There is ways for political reform in the country, is just not he wants due to this will bring no benefits to him (etc: Transparency, anti-corruption, education and many others). When they have the chance in the government, they did not make any changes so people go back to other parties and this is the main down fall of the opposition. For me what I can see here is that Suthep doesn't want reform at all he want is to maintain power for himself and the people financing him. He started the rally with a good reason to push against for the amnesty bill, and after he saw the people support for him, he take the advantage to overthrow the currently government (the ways used has now gone to far) by selling promise and idea that the people wanted to hear. But the problem now back fire on him, after he start selling, he do not have an idea how to make the promise happen or end the things without losing the people trust, so he started with the people council and all other promise but himself know that this can't happen. A real politician doesn't ask to change this and that in the law, but how to used it to make them in power (by the end Laws is set by human and it will have it flaw). For me no matter how Suthep change the law, as long as it cannot bring power to him, he will no stop and all coming back to square one. As for Thaksin, I don't really agree with him, but at least now he is a little clever on how to play this game.

You have under estimated the force.

    The dark force.

  11. Where else in the world could a P.M. who leads a party democratically elected by the people, be ordered to resign, except in a "banana republic"?

I am no fan of PTP, but how can this be possible?

Because beneath all the glitz and glamour it is a Banana Republic . I'm beginning to think you fancy her a bit Rat. wink.png

Well, there is something about a woman in a uniform with a thai round her neck? attachicon.gifys.jpgtongue.png

Maybe you prefers the old dark type like Suthep.

I'll go for the young fair type like Yingluck anytime.

  12. Well you dont need to be Colombo, to know from which side the violence started!

Who want a coup? of course Suthep

Who is ready to do anything to bring the army out the casern? Suthep 's side of course!

Who ordered the bloody crackdown in 2010? Suthep

Who showed some sign of dementia these last few weeks? Suthep Suthep Suthep...

and an anti-Thaksin supporter would say:

Which side has a history of violence? Red Shirts

Which side is ready to do anything to support the government? Red Shirts of course!

Which side verbally threatened violence? Red Shirts

Which side is illegally led by an accused terrorist in breech of his bail conditions? Red Shirts

My point is that from a strictly objective perspective either side could be responsible. To assume it to be one side or the other is responsible demonstrates your own ignorance to your own subjectivity more than anything else.

Well you dont need to be Colombo, to know from which side the violence started!

It's funny how the only deaths that have occurred during this round of protests involved red shirts.

    Sent from my phone ...

I'm guessing you only get your news through AFP - they censored reports of the 21 yr old RU student who was shot dead by someone dressed in red shirt militia uniform.

They also forgot to mention the censored reports of the FOUR dead Red-shirts who was shot dead by someone dressed in yellow shirt militia uniform.

Don't forget the score is 4:1 (4 red dead vs 1 yellow dead).
