  2. I hope Thomas Gary gets at least 10 years in a federal pen. I hope he meets a lot of nice men in there, who are willing to return the favor, and make him their girlfriend. He will get to feel the joys of having a super freak work him good. He is well deserving of that treatment, if indeed he is guilty of this incredibly heinous crime.

10 years in a federal prison?

Let him rot in a Thai jail!

  3. Some crabby forum guys on thaivisa consider overstay one of the most heinous crimes going. Ignore them. Much worse things they should save their energy for.

In answer to your question there's no larger punishment for longer overstay, he's already at the 20k Baht cap. Blacklisting rules never went into law. He's not hurting anybody, it's a victimless crime. Other than the tired argument that he's 'making things worse for the rest of us law abiding types' which I never bought into. The blacklisting rules aren't in effect, if Thailand cared that much they would be. Ubonjoe suspects they've been shelved - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/781882-overstay-on-3-month-non-b-am-i-in-trouble/#entry8767022

The only crackdown has been on people living here on multiple visa exemptions. No evidence overstayers have affected the experience of expats that don't overstay, one iota.

For now just focus on helping him find a legal source of income from somewhere, family loans, filling out online surveys, anything. Lots of menial online work he can do for a few dollars an hour - he has all the time in the world.

Overstay without money is dangerous, he'll be stuck in IDC if caught. It's fairly unlikely he will be, but if he doesn't have funds on hand or an ATM card to buy a flight ticket out and pay court fees, he could end up stuck in IDC indefinitely (see this thread - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/780211-my-experience-at-idc-for-overstaying/)

If you read the answers on thi post, than you know that the friend of the op hasno internet connection.

  4. I feel it's kind of strange that government would allow banks to be closed for 5 days straight. I am not saying bank workers doesn't deserve a holiday. but there could be ways of handling it without disrupting the financial services of a country.

what are your thoughts / opinions?

    p.s i calculate wrong its 5 days :-)

And how much days are the banks closed in Europe?

    Wake up and relax.

  6. I am from usa and dont have IDP. I plan on driving a scooter through thailand. If an IDP is not required, what should I do if stopped and police want to ticket me?

How much are you fined and do you need to pay on the spot?

What if I refuse to pay?

How often will I be stopped driving cross country?

    1. When you are stopped by the police, be polite and pay the fine.

    2. How much you have to pay, depends on how good you can talk.

    3. Yes, pay on the spot, else spend a lot off time at a police station.

    4. If you refuse to pay, just have a good time at a police station.

It's the same in the USA, no driving license, don't drive, if you don't want to pay the fine.

BTW, if you don't have a license, than you don't have insurance.

I hope you have some money in your pockets.

  7. I think I've visited Isaan, once or twice before in my life and I remember observing some things about the people living there.

First have to admit didn't find any virgins as Mr Trans has........ in his dreams....... but I observed the kindness and welcoming of the people towards me ( except that neighbour that accused me of stealing her Papayia).

I observed also that they have no idea how to serve people in the restaurants and also hand the change to the wrong person.

I observed the way they are driving and adopted that way myself so I don't feel out of place.

I observed the spicy food they eat and as I tried it gave me a burning ring ( don't remember who else had that problem)

Also observed the farangs living with their much younger wives than them and treating them.......I wouldn't say like servants........but not as real wives at least.

Also observed the farangs being miserable gits and not even say hello to you.

I don't remember exactly where that occurred but when it comes to my mind I'll tell you.

I observed Isaan girls walking in a funny way (who opened that thread?) like ducks.

I observed that workmen never come to you when you ask them (still waiting for somebody to come and build my hen house)

But the most important observation was the Mai Ben Rai.

They live, walk, talk, eat and always Mai Ben Rai is their first and only priority..........

But again who am I to have an opinion about Isaan?

Only been there once or twice.........................

    Questions:

You have only been here once or twice and you are "still waiting" for a guy to build your your hen house?

    Long visits?

Why do you want a hen house here if you don't live here?

You have an Issan neighbor here who accuses you of stealing.

    Do visitors have neighbors?

You didn't find any virgins on your visits?

I know more than a few young women saving "it" until they are married.

But they are not the type to have any contact with a farang they do not know.

You came here to check the level of sexual activity of our young women or..

You are an economy class sexpat hoping to cut out the middle man and catch our desperate young women before they have no choice but to move south and work for some mamasan?

And no, we don't talk much to farangs we do not know.....many can't be trusted.

Your story has as many holes as swiss cheese and it is hard to believe any of it.

I find Issan to be almost a different country with a different culture from any part of Thailand south of us.

For me that part of Thailand is like an amusement park.

A place to take guests from back home for a few laughs.

    Come on Costas, come clean.

I've been reading your posts for a couple of years and didn't expect any thing like this from you!

    But Hey!

    Mai Pen Rai! 555

You read Costas post for a few years? And you still don't understand a joke?

I think you better find a other amusement park, maby one you understand!

  8. If your in thailand goto the thai french butcher in the alley next to villa market on soi 31 (i think) and ask for minced macreuse or sirloin tip. It is perfect for making burgers with and is about 280 a kg. It is better than your average thai beef

    What town is that??

    Soi 31 in Thailand?

But thank you for your input.

  9. Ok just to clear up some confusion. Since 2008 I have spent a lot of time in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, & Vietnam. I know a little bit about Thai culture. Not everything but a good chunk. 2nd I DO know this girlfriend. I have spent a lot of time with her in Thailand. In the last 18 months I have been to BKK 8 times. usually for a month or more. She is not a bar girl. She is not a mail order bride, She is an accountant, I was introduced by a Thai friend actually his girlfriend introduced us.

I have heard all the stories, I know what can happen. I am not getting married anytime soon. I was planning on coming to Thailand after 50 BEFORE I met her. I have checked her out, I had a Private Detective check out her work records, background, job, etc. I have had friends check her out. She is divorced because she left him. He was a drunk who hit her and the kid and cheated on her.

I am NOT a moron, I am actually a little edumacated smile.png . I was born & raised in New York BEFORE it was a shopping mall.

I am not marrying her anytime soon, I just wanted to know how the law worked over there. So that I have time to consider ALL the facts before I do.

Thank you for all the advice and all the concern.

PS. Not all Thai women are like this. The sort of thing you describe happens all over the world. Abrahamzvi has a point.

Somebody already said this, but for you one more time.

Go live together for some time and than see how everything works out, verry simple.

And please stop your ranting, you post on this form and you get answers. Don't post if you can not deal with it.

By the way, I'm still wondering what your this had to do that you are from New York?
