You are correct.  Here is the exact wording (the "fine print") from Roojai's site:

    • "**Any illnesses such as coma, brain and nervous system damage or disorders, terminal illness, and or death, as a direct result of the Coronavirus, determined by a physician. Maximum coverage 500,000 - 1,000,000 THB (depending on the plan)
**Medical treatment from infections (Coronavirus (COVID-19)) both In-Patient-Department (IPD) and Out-Patient-Department (OPD) cases Maximum coverage for medical expenses 50,000 - 100,000 THB/year (depending on the plan)"

That’s 2-3 nights in a decent hospital ????. Anything happens you will be getting a bill for everything if you don’t have some form of health insurance. This is why a lot of people who are using the extensions to stay thinking it’s great as it’s like a extended holiday from their original visa will be in trouble if they become sick. The first thing would be they would get tested for Covid and probably kept under surveillance for a few days in hospital even if they had a sickness hardly similar to Covid . I know a lot of people renewing visas like this and none have insurance.

This is my second trip to ASQ, my hotel even welcomed me to be "detained" at their hotel, so you are correctly talking about arrest / prison.

Neither times was my luggage checked. First time I brought one bottle of wine and a can of German beer, this time I bought a full bottle of gin. Plus some food. So based on my experience this is quite safe, haven't touched the gin yet, not sure I will during ASQ. It's a good "detox" moment.

You better buy something stronger than a bottle of champagne, and go celebrate the end of your prison sentence to e.g. Pattaya, with your wife or mia noi.

Third time skip the booze and try fitting in a petite lady ! ????

Another reason why Thailand has been so successful containing covid. A great effective system without the nonsense of other countries that have failed so dismally.

They were at the forefront of it during the March -April outbreak. Thousands of volunteers over the country manning road blocks temperature checks etc etc.

The thai bashers will be on this thread, bagging the Thais for this single infection while ignoring the millions of new infections this month in their own countries.

These people who check are highly hit and miss . My wife went from samui to issan twice by car . First time was around April and people came and took her details and told her she couldn’t leave the house till they said , they checked her temp etc and done this for around 3-4 days out of 14  . After that she never heard or seen them again . Second time was in July done same trip and first day same thing and second day same temp test etc and after that never seen or heard again .

Yema SQ6450 – a Chinese Maestro van by any other name

some 'more mature' brits may recognise this. this is what the chinese created from the tooling imported from the west midlands. part 'maestro. part 'montego'. i drove a diesel version of the maestro van for a decade. the x-zyte nightclub was quieter. i would think now the only remaining 'MG' part of the brand is the badge.

Not far of the old ford Everest shape from around 2012 ????

  5. Looks like a good car for running around town in or for the wife to drive because of size . Only thing I seen about it negative really was the lack of power in some , but if you are only doing short drives or around town why does that matter .

  6. As I said last week I can’t for the life of me understand why Thais are not made to take a PCR test before flying . As for ASQ it seems toss of a coin that you might get infected there and the numbers of infected coming from the Middle East over last few months has made me decide to not fly with emirates via Dubai to Bkk unless they make it mandatory for everyone to be tested before flying with them . Will take my still high but better chances of flying with Eva from uk to Bkk !

So, to return to my question: Can someone suggest a reputable Thai health insurance company which meets the standards the government is now setting?

The ones on the government site are priced same as I was quoted by an insurance agent in Bkk so I’m assuming the government ones cover from day one . Although I will be looking through it finely before I purchase it .
