  1. I used to think America was the litigation capital of the world but clearly it has nothing on Thailand.

Thailand doesn't need a parliament building, just a massive courthouse.

People think corruption is just money changing hands. Skimming projects. The other kind of corruption is worse. The kind where connections and heritage give you advantages. Scratch my back I will scratch yours.

Now it is possible the democrats rewrote the rules after 2010 so the PDRC can get away with whatever they want this time, but I have not seen any such changes so a difference in ruling from 2010 is double standards. That would mean the court is not looking at the law, but have their mind on the WHO of the case they got.

Are you so lacking in discernment that you can see no difference in the levels of violence now as compared to 2010? Can you also not see that the majority of the violence is directed AT the protesters and not FROM them, yet the SoE is aimed solely at restricting/reducing the protests, not curbing the violence.

I must admit though that the SoE is a vehicle to enable greater police powers, and in both 2010 and now, they don't even attempt action. The similarity ends there.

Deny rights of other citizens for 2 months and deny them the most important of their rights, the right to vote, justify an emergency decree, it's not all about just violence.

Anyway, not that matters that much as there were no changes in the protest management and protection on government side.

It's just farcical, tragic and ridiculous, the whole matter.

  2. No Government with out an effective opposition will ever do any good for a country

2 Major Parties in Parliment is called Democracy

1 Major Parties in Parliment is called Dictatorship

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQVjUsKSKUE#t=71

No one forced Democrats out of Elections, it was their (sad and silly) choice... how can you call it dictatorship?

And I don't remember Democrats complain of any rigged vote back in 2011, but not it seems every single vote for PTP had been forced, coerced or bought.

My thought is any party other than Dems and PTP could do and be better that those two dinosaurs, willing to devour each other.

  3. Peaceful protest because you don't like the government = fine.

Preventing law-abiding citizens from exercising their right to vote = borderline terrorism.

Terrorism?! That involves physical violence to the extreme. Red shirts?

Don't be so dramatic, unless you wanna star in a thai soap opera.

Do you know the definition of terrorism given by UN?

Extreme groups of BOTH faction can be called terrorists...

  4. I find most of Tulsie's stuff pretty near incomprehensible anyway, so I haven't even tried to read this (and judging by the comments - I was right not to bother). I do, however, recommend this article in The Nation today which I don't think was posted on TV yet: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/politics/One-media-image-undermines-the-protesters-case-30225465.html

Yes, a pity this article did not make TV News, while the absolute nonsense in the OP got in evidence.

The article at your link is remarkable and makes some points that everyone should keep in mind very well.

  5. So far the protesters have been more non-violent than the government side that threw grenades and did the far most shooting. We can all agree that the protesters are the more succesful side in the conflict. This will paertly have to do with the less violent approach they have.

Being more or less violent is not much of a prize.

And government used force only in the clash at Thai-Japanese stadium anyway, or you believe Suthep's words and every shooting. bombing and hand-clapping was because government ordered it?

In any case, cannot sure tell this is a non-violent movement. They have their violent arm that showed in different occasions. And if you are not biased you will reckon that.

I do reckon that. And I am convinced the grenade throwers were instructed by one or more members of the shinaclan. As was the execution of Suthin Tharatin. It will be hard to believe that random grenade throwers acted independently using the same type of grenades.

Ok well, it's your idea, of course. But without evidences, I would avoid to make accusations, as seen as the tones are too much tense already and the 2 dogs are just waiting to be unleashed to devour each other...

  7. Lets take a name check on these 50 persons and keep track of where they end up, it is only a matter of time before the Democrats are back in power and no doubt these names will reappear in various 'positions'then.

    Sigh!!!

Why sigh? What Smutcakes said is actually something very easy to do, and just wait, no harm to anyone... I think Smutcakes did not go too much far from reality.

Yes, there is that precedence set with 11 red shirts becoming MP's with no word on Deputy Commerce Minister Natthawut standing in court for his criminal charges filed in 2007, 2009, and 2010.

I am not aware of this, but sure if they would continue to do the same mistakes or criminal action of this actual government, would not bring much of a new wave, don't you think? So we have just to wait and see.

Don't you read the news? Yesterday DIS threating to sue Election Directors.

This time is me to say "sigh"... ok I guess there's not much to make you understand that THIS is not related to actual government or whatever. It will be just curious to wait and see if those 50 people would have some role in the hypothetical next government (if not PTP).

And yes, I read the news and try to broaden my views and keep neutral and my opinion without getting influenced from the propaganda that is bombing us by both sides...

But if you cannot understand the point, i drop the case.

So in Thailand people is not allowed to quit their jobs?

Don't make the naive boy ;) They are not worker in a factory and they have a big responsibility, and what a shame they decide to resign all together 5 days before the vote-day.

I don't want to think is politically motivated, and I don't exclude the fact they can be intimidated by lack of security, but like Smutcakes said: just sit, wait and see... I would not exclude any hypothesis.

  11. Amazed at some of the commentary critical of this guy, and demonizing the pro-electoral forces....I wonder how they would pontificate if it was in their own country.....But never mind...Like I said before..."Where agenda walks in the door, common sense walks out...

Whether this guy is expressing his own opinions is another question...I'm sure he is, but it should be clear he has no choice about it........The electoral majority of UDD/RS's/PTP would come unglued if this election date was tampered with...under whatever guise....Not only would it effectively be a coup, regardless who is behind it, including the EC, but it would throw Thailand into a political black-hole...Can you imagine what would happen after a delay, and these reactionary coup-mongers, that some people call Fascists, would begin to throw their weight around.

Protests would be spontaneous...Wouldn't require any organizing.

The election date is sacrosanct...period. The alternative is scary.

i wonder how YOU would "pontificate" if your country was killing its own people to bring backm a wanted criminal dictator? if you like so much - go back to it.

Not happening in my country, nor here........The 'country' here did not kill its' own people, only the coup-rooted Govt. using their military did that, at R'song.....What criminal dictator?...You mean the previous elected Prime Minister and government who the unelectable coup-mongers eliminated..... Which they are trying to do again, and who they subsequently demonized in order to justify their unelected power-grab. And who was convicted in their post-coup courts as part of that self-serving demonization campaign?....That one?

"if you like so much - go back to it".......My point is opposite this quote....If it is not justified in their own country, why do these prognosticators feel it is allright in Thailand...They denigrate Thailand IMHO. They use a double-standard.

My country isn't lead by an overseas fugitive. My country also didn't have a faux drug war that claimed the lives of over 2000 citizens. Myself, I always like to make fun of people who claim the 'coup rooted government' killed 90 Thais while conveniently ignoring the so called 'democratically voted' government that killed over 2000. Something about judging the speck in someone's eye comes to mind when I read these people's post. whistling.gif

Dead are dead and must be respected, not used for anyone benefit. Whichever side they are: red, yellow, drug dealers, or anti-government protesters. Is not a matter on numbers or political views. Just respect them all please, you and whoever play the game "but in 2010, but in the drug war, but in 1973..."

Let's all get back to be human and try a bit of compassion and respect for who lost life prematurely.

  12. This will be interesting with the usual violent red shirt protestors and the Yingluck Govt in charge .... wonder if the Govt will ask the Army to keep the Peace and Order ? ..... wonder if this will end up being Red Shirts attacking the Yingluck Govt .... someone mentioned the "gordian knot" ... no kidding ... how will CNN and BBC interpret this mess

They are heavily tipped by the Amsterdams and theShinawatras so they will blame the anti Government protestors

    Flaming day, huh?

  13. The most dangerous problem here is beyond the childish red/yellow, farmer/elite or democratic/undemocratic discussions. The worrying issue is that there are several posters on Thai Visa that are hungry for blood, or justifying violence.

This forum has become a platform to splash very dirty insults against politicians, Police, Army, Constitutional Court, and all the institutions of Thailand (except one, of course). We all know that they all deserve criticism, but the level of insults and hate is reaching astronomic proportions.

As I have already mentioned, some of you are forgetting that beyond the Yinlucks, Sutheps, Chalerms, Jatuporns, Nattawuts, Abbishits, etc… (who are also human beings, above all else) many of us have our loved ones involved in the conflict. Our concern about their safety is much bigger than our political opinions, and we feel dismayed when we read so many posts calling for hate, violence, punishment, and revenge.

It is very easy to split hate when you are comfortably sitting on your chair, but I am sure that you would think twice if you had personal links or friendship with persons on any side of the conflict (and I have them in both, so I am double distressed).

Is the administration of Thai Visa ever going to put some limit to this inhuman level of verbal confrontation and abuse?

being a moderator on another forum, I feel sorry for the moderators here that have such a crazy time, since some months ago.

You can help them, clicking on report to let them know posts that are flaming, or out of the line, and against TV Forum rules. smile.png

  14. Should I get real because I have a different idea than yours?

I'm just saying that PT were strangling themselves and with the first round of protest anti government got their momentum.

They sure would have lost votes and not few from farmers. But then Mark shot himself in the foot, Suthep just wait for the Army that won't come, and the country is in full anarchy.

    Well done everyone...

  15. As an ex-pat who has been living in Thailand since 2001 I follow the politics of the nation even though I can have no impact on them.

I am particularly distressed by the blocking of polling places by the minions of Suthep.

They do have the right to protest but to prevent people from voting is not only illegal it is shameful.

It also shows that they know that they are not in the majority of Thais and cannot win a vote.

I think that Suthep should have been arrested by now. Not for exercising his right to protest but for inciting people to commit illegal acts.

And those who are blocking polling places should be summarily arrested for preventing others from exercising their constitutional right whether you agree with them or not.

I am ashamed to admit that the same thing is happening in my country (USA) where the Republicans are passing laws preventing minorities from voting because those persons tend to vote for Democrats.

The similarity does not end there. Republicans represent the wealthier classes as does Suthep and Abhasit and their party.

You are pretty mixed up. They are on the streets to shutdown Bangkok and restart thailand with a better system. They are tired of PTP vote buying. The illegal actions is the violence of red shirts.

Forming a protest to take a stand against a gov't that does not honor the law and is a puppet system operated by a fugitive from abroad IS A SERIOUS CRIME??!!! What other method do you propose to stop PTP without violence? You don't support peaceful formation of demonstrations? You prefer what ? Is the china method a good alternative? Food for thought.

The dem/republican thing is the same group of charlatans buddy, with a few that don't follow the pack; Ron Paul, Ted Cruz and a handful of others. They have the same handlers, lobbyists, globalists. They trick you into division of parties and get people fighting among themselves (gay vs. straight, white vs. black-all this nonsense) while behind doors, they are securing deals we don't even know about..... They eat at the same table, meet at the same conferences and attend the same Bilderburg meetings.

Some basic research will be an epiphany to you- if it is true you have been here since 2001- but it sure reads like you're resided here for far less time than that given your perspective on how this demonstration is 'so illegal.'

Prevent people to vote is a crime and an infringement of human rights.

Let the government collapse by itself under their mistakes and let a common panel make reforms...

  16. My Thai wife and many of her Thai friends have been in Bkk now for over 2 weeks as protestors

Forget about what Biask HS want, this is what the Thai people who are protesting feel

Stop Taskin getting his GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD

Something that many members want here on Thai Visa

If the next election is held at a time that Taskin can not get this home free card then:

    1) It was the PTP Party thay caused all these problems trying to push through an amesty that was against all Thais at the beginning so they shpuld be responsible for the costs and lost of Face

    2) The Dems should be part of the next resheduled election and see if the people want them or not

    3) If there is a decent Issan Party formed and runs, that want the best for Issan and Thailand they with get her vote and the vote of her friends

    5) all partied should agree that if the PM reshedules that this can not be held against her at a later time, but does not forgive her of any other crimes she has committed , if any

    6) if the above happens, she and her friends will retun home, ebven if Suthep wants to continue the protest, but reserves the right to return if the PTP go back on their word like they have done many times before

    7) if the Democrats can not do there reform issues in the 5 month talked about, then this is their bad luck, and should not stop anothe election

My rights to make these statements

Both my self and all my friends are THAI

    1) Fair enough, I hated the amnesty bill, and that was a big mistake made by Government, no doubts

    2) The Dems decided by themselves to not run for election. If they changed idea, is their business. This is a Country, not a playschool.

they knew risks, now is their responsibility for the mistake they made. It should be not denied to everyone else a vote just because

they should run for an election they called themselves out. (If the want to run, Mark is practically disappeared).

    3) That would be so nice.

    4) NA

    5) Fair and square

    6) Fair and square

    7) The Democrats alone have NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER to make any reform. It should be only an independent group chosen by both sides to make reforms. Democrats had their chance to make reforms, and watch where we are.

And I don't think much people here wants to see Thaksin free to take a stroll in any place, he has to pay for his mistakes as everyone else involved in this crazy violent bipolar-ism has to.

I see Thaksin and Suthep as 2 of the main cancer of the actual situation and see them out of daily news and thought of people would be a nice peace of mind.
