Hi kamalabob2 could you do me a favour.

The next time you drop into that shop and see Mr Bob who the staff told me looks after mower sales, could you ask him the price of the mower his staff have kindly sent me photos and the spec sheet of.

I've been asking since yesterday but getting a price is like squeezing blood out of a stone.

Thanks Mr Bob. Problem sorted and very agreeable prices.

  2. The info from April 24 may be a bit outdated. I believe people traveling from red zones and deep red like Bangkok are required to home quarantine for 14 days.

Road checkpoints have been set up in various provinces in the past week. I know Buriram, Sisaket and Ubon all require 14 day home quarantine if arriving from a red zone. That includes a quick shopping trip to a neighbouring province and back.

  3. I've been told by a member of the health department they should contact a help line set up by thairath newspaper for situations like this. The helpline will try to find a bed but the patient may spend time in a field hospital first until a suitable hospital bed is found.

Recently there's been a case of 4 Bangkok positive people unable to find a bed hiring a pickup with driver and spending 8 hours in the back for a pre arranged with the hospital trip to an issan hospital with free beds.

  4. Many many years ago a former brother in law worked in Taiwan a couple of times.

Employment was through agencies usually run by influential people and politicians.

Anyone could apply for a job, but, unless you paid a fee your application would never be processed.

There are many scams out there so I'd recommend he ask around for anyone who's worked in Korea and follow their advice.

..  probably depends on the area. Everybody in the village (6 households I think) paid ฿6 000 here, pump + various bits and pieces brought the cost to ฿12 - or 13 000. We found water at 27 metres.

We ended up paying 6k for a 4" bore. I then forked out 29k for a 2 panel 680w solar setup fully installed. I'm happy with it as it easily operates 6 sprinklers plus a garden hose at the same time (until cloud cover).

  6. Not too sure about Wells but recently had a bore drilled. It all depends on your areas water table. My water depth 36 metres.

Worth checking but was told water deeper than 40 meters requires permission from a govt dept.

  7. At the ASQ i stayed in early January the nurses did a BP test at check-in. Nothing out of the ordinary. Also asked what medications I take.

That was the only time my BP was checked. Nothing to worry about. Everytime I visit a Dr here my BP gets checked as standard procedure.

  8. Be careful with ticks on dogs. We check our dogs daily but missed a couple of small ticks in a skin fold.

One of our pedigree dogs ended up very sick, blind in 1 eye, required 2 blood transfusions, a 6 week stay in a pet hospital and daily medication from tick blood poisoning. He was totally blind for a few weeks until 1 eye recovered.

The vets said local dogs have a resistance to tick infections whereas pure bred non native dogs don't.

Thanks for this advice, next time I am in Bangkok I'm going to try and open an account there, I won't try it in Ubon - here it seems nobody can speak passable English at any of the banks that I tried, whereas in Bangkok they usually had at least one staff member that could speak decent English.

I recently opened an account with SCB in a neighbouring province without work permit or residence certificate. I did have some help from a family friend SCB executive in BKK.

I mentioned the problems some expats have with opening accounts and they said its mostly due to some staff having limited English.

Judging by all the paperwork wanting to know if I was American or held money in the USA I can see why yanks have a problem opening an account.

As for a residence certificate, my local immigration office won't issue one before my 1st 90 day report unless its requested by an embassy or a govt department. I was told the same by an Elite visa rep at CW rwo weeks ago.

  10. I've got a digital stick in the mouth thermometer,  a hand held digital and a digital on the pole thermometer.

Just checked all 3 and they're within 0.1 of a degree.

I find im normally 36.4 and the Mrs 36.6 when entering shopping centres. For some reason if working down the yard in the current heat my body temp tends to read 36.2
