The Ambassador's statement here, the Time magazine "dictator" coverage, the professionally subte yet very clear wording in the BBC coverage can only happen if independent sources are now also VERY covinced, very most likely supported by hard facts, that this case is a shameful mockery... Brace yourself, Thailand, if you botched it.... it mearly started...
-
If that were REALLY to happen, that would be THE day of reckoning for Thailand... The Tsunami would look like a walk in the park compared to what would happen to Thai businesses and Tourism as a consequence ....... maybe its the lesson they need.....Whilst my thoughts are with the victims (both British and probably Burmese) I can't help seeing TV docudrama and movie producers rubbing their hands with glee about a tale like this. The fallout from the trial (sham?) will be minor compared to the negative publicity generated by such productions and the ultimate consequences for tourism in Thailand.

Errrr..... Ok. Uncalled for, but ok.
Stupid f..... head! GO HOME
I was under the impression this was S.O.PHow DARE they shave their heads and parade them like convicted criminals before even concluding any trial....
You are insinuating it is not ?
Was not intended to offend, but this is not the appropriate time or space to play casually with words... if you dont mean what you say, dont say it...
No i can imagine that stupid f...head GO home could be misconstrued as a constructive comment
Night night TomTom.
np, our all nerves are, quite appropriately, a bit raw...

Some posters suggest that there is a translation error and it should be "complete", not fixed. Headline then reads:
Flaws in Koh Tao Murder Case now Complete
understand and appreciated what you say (correctly), but the "message" is still the same... and we got it...

We also have to be realistic !The UK will not do ANYTHING which would have any significant (meaning, more than cosmetic) until they can't avoid it. Most countries would act the same way, unfortunately - called "diplomacy". And that's what "everyone" counts on and continues with "business as usual" ... It would be a very pleasant surprise if proven wrong here... I really can't see that happening, coz it would be a very public and unpleasant exercise as the "behind closed doors" options get lesser and lesser...
It's said, 2young lifes , maybee 4 on the end will be gone,
but :: who goes for Koh tao ? and for what they go there ?
family holiday ? relax after received their PHD ?
or for what they go there ? we know all this stuff,
I guess most of us never used it and never would go to KT for this;
So why many of us expecting now UK should start some BIG fight with another country ?
Myanmar have to fight for their guys that they get a fair trial;
UK have to fight to get this Drug Mafia of KT down to protect their young citiciens from this in future !!
Maybe "just" because the victims are British?! Not good enough reason for the British authorities to get involved if the world media call the investigation "botched" or simply corrupted and all the Thai have to offer is "to walk the beach with the RTP"?

I have never seen a reputable news organisation use these words for a head of state, unless he/she would be TOTALLY beyond repair.... i am..... words are failing me....

What a joke this whole case
I know 2 young lads who would disagree with you th
Not to mention 2 families who are in mourning for loved ones.
I just hope they (the victim's families) can find some consolation in the fact that people don't want this go "the usual way". They must be in horrific pain. Ultimately, "our bickering" here is not driven by a desire to "gossip", to pure s.... over T.... or any other alter motives. We, also in the name of the victims, just want to see justice served, justice which deserves the name and which, if people ask for, can be proven publicly and explained. Justice is not for the "(not) elected few" to decide on behind closed doors or in doubtful (at best) proceeding. We are not some stupid cattle which can be fed with whatever leftovers are available. We just have enough of these over and over and over repeating stories where at the end of the day nothing happens... Let's see, this time round...

Don't underestimate them yet, the FCO has acted more forcefully now than what was first expected.
I'll throw my hat in and say that the UK coroners report WILL be made public sooner rather than later.
This foregone conclusion can be circumvented. I expect the FCO will act in an unprecedented manner. Myanmar and GB need to shadow each other at every turn right now and show strength with Myanmars leadership.
Kent can stay in the back stalls. I doubt as a career diplo he would be comfortable any other way. Gen Prayuth seems to think he can puppet him around.
New international policies can be developed by reacting to these very types of circumstances.
Clocks ticking though so get it moving -sooner rather than later please lads.
everybody just wants to see justice, independent of nationality, race and status... "that's all"... but generally not a ver "sexy" political/diplomatic subject... let's see...

this will be seen through at all cost, vetted and signed off by the highest places already, otherwise they would not continue that path, they feel VERY safe comfortable...

oh, I thoughts it was the Myanmar's, because there where Myanmar's finger prints on each and every car found during the investigation...? But maybe I misunderstood (or I am just plain stupid)...

Thais could easily clear all these doubts up , and be seen to have been right all along.
Why risk a massive decline in confidence world wide?
The UK forensic DNA tests would if permitted vindicate them 100%
Or would they?
Obviously , its clear Thais have gone so far down their deceitful path , with such a vested interest in closing the case , its too late to back track-
With so much at stake , its clear why they won't simply clear their name and allow the tests.
This is a crime as heinous as the murderers ones.
Plucking innocents and sacrificing them and arrogantly saying ""mind your own business ""case closed"
If they do that "'woe unto them and their tourist dollars$ in future>"
we'll just be given the run-around...

Yes and 'diplomacy' usually means fudge, 'diplomacy' means sweeping things under the carpet in the wider strategic and business interests of Britain and its Western friends (the US). It rarely recognises 'justice' as an important factor, if it is inconvenient.Anyone that thinks the Brit embassy have not been on this from the start is a fool. same with Westminster. They will have stood back, taking notes allowing time for Thailand to do what they see fit. You don't just stick your nose into a sovereign countries judicial system when you feel like it
Correct.............
It's called "Diplomacy"....
And lets not forget that "we" employ certain countries around the globe from time to time (T included) for activities which we dont want to make our own hands dirty with, and with that come certain obligations from time to time... sick, but true

Their lawyers called for the trial to be postponed to allow more time to prepare a defence but the plea was rejected. - See more at: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/world/article/thai-pm-plays-down-concern-over-tourist-murder-investigation#sthash.3xivde86.dpuf
No way are they going to delay the guilty verdicts.
This brown (sic...!) shirt guy makes me feel sicker by the day....

it REALLY needs a strong stomach:
"So far, questioning of the suspects and witnesses have been done without a lawyer and a proper interpreter present."
"One high-ranking police officer told the media the Myanmar nationals didn't ask for a lawyer." Holly hell, can you believe such a statement, say's it all.......
Seems that layers are not even allowed to have their clients/defendants physically examined for wounds without the Police permission......
Worth taking note of the cartoon at the bottom of the page - Thai newspaper, Thai cartoonist (I assume) - WELL DONE !
http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/social/437436/three-witnesses-to-testify-in-koh-tao-case
"Appointed defence lawyers had 30 minutes with the accused yesterday and arrived late last night."
Today then straight to the court hearing, request for more time for the defence to prepare was denied by the court....

Would be great to find out how they could one of the most important witnesses leave the island. The Scottish guy named "Sean."
Let's hope that Scotland Yard did its own research.
There is every likelihood that Sean has disappeared off the face of the planet, i.e. "silenced"

IF (many suspect, probably for good reason, we still don't know for sure yet) these local thugs were the culprits then the only chance would be if the RTP would have been dumb enough to still leave some DNA traces (if it existed) on the evidence which the British police would be able and willing to trace back to these people, which would require under-cover evidence collection and the lot... That sounds AWFULLY unlikely to me, as satisfying as that would be (if all true) - hence I at "best" expect an "inconclusive" outcome with the culprits probably getting away... "mission accomplished", RTP, even if with 2 black eyes, but who cares...

They are very busy down there in Surat...
just another "mysterious death.....", this time a Thai who "fell out of favour" and was just about to be charged, the day before he "suddenly fell and died"...
Must be very confusing having to get "explanations" for all these dead people right...
Thailand agrees to British police help over murders
