  1. In my home country the law simply specifies that it is illegal to park closer than 5 m to a pedestrian crossing, and we do have proper driver's education, so no need for ugly zig-zag lines.
  2. I know both are grammatically correct; I wasn't trying to claim otherwise. I simply prefer my suggestion in the same way that I prefer "Danes" to "Danish people" when referring to people of my home-country Denmark.
  3. Wouldn't "Thais are not confident about removing" be even better? Using "Thai people" instead of "Thais" sounds kind of Tinglish to me.
  4. I use ShopeePay to pay my PEA bills set up with direct debit, and easy to top up the ShopeePay wallet with Bangkok Bank mBanking.
  5. Once when I visited a Thai friend in rural Isaan we were going to go in a car with a couple of other guys. I started to put my seat belt on and my friend said "You don't need to do that - there's no police around here," to which I replied "I don't do it for the police, I do it for me" - and they all looked at me as if I was crazy. So obeying the law obviously (at least for those guys) has nothing to do with safety, but all to do with the risk of getting a fine.
  6. I chose to play it safe and ordered the 12-months statement from the bank one week in advance.
  7. I did my extension (retirement) this week too. I had prepared everything according to the relevant checklist. All finished without problems in about an hour. I only hope that next year COVID-19 will be just a memory and we will be allowed to wait inside the building.
  8. The phone app. In "Account details" press the three dots (...) at the top right and select "Request account statement". However, as @Stocky was so kind to point out, a self-printed statement may not be accepted.
  9. Yes, you're right, that could be a problem. Probably safer to wait a week for the official document.
  10. With the latest Bangkok Bank app (I use Android) it is now possible to request a 12 months statement that will be sent to your email within a few minutes as a PDF.
  11. I guess I'm unusual then. I pay 0.6 % in negative interest to my Danish bank.
  12. I have recently bought some batteries from this Lazada store: VapcellThailand. Battery capacity was as specified. To make it clear: I have a battery charger that can measure the battery capacity and if not as specified I return the batteries.
  13. Yes, and with scanned copies of those documents you can register online to do notifications yourself (same as hotels do), though maybe not as useful now as when a new notification was required every time you returned after having been abroad, but could also be handy if you have foreign friends or family staying with you.
  14. These are the official guidelines as of 2022-03-24.
  15. As they are required to do: https://www.icao.int/about-icao/FAQ/Pages/icao-frequently-asked-questions-faq-11.aspx
  16. These are the latest official Thai guidelines as of 2022-03-24.
  17. No one is pretending that it cannot happen. It can and it has. That's the reason a pilot cannot be alone in the cockpit anymore. If one of the pilots has to go out (to go to the lavatory for example), one of the flight attendants will enter the cockpit and stay there until the pilot returns.
  18. Interim reports into a crash are published after a month, so a little more patience is needed.
  19. I was getting tired of the noise and on/off cycling, so a year ago I replaced a Hitachi WM-P250XS with this one: Reno RN-1WZB-20P. In addition to the variable motor control ("inverter") this model also can connect to an app via WiFi that allows you to easily set the desired water pressure. After I had installed it, it told me that something was leaking and it turned out that it was one of the toilets that was leaking, but doing it so slowly that I would never had noticed it if I hadn't specifically looked for it.
  20. Just as I thought, you cannot explain what the difference is because there is none. Why it doesn't taste the same to you? I think @Oxx has adequately explained that elsewhere in this thread. I'm not disputing that excessive intake of MSG may be problematic (that's true of most substances), but where in the study you are referring to does it say that possible adverse health effects are specifically due to artificially produced MSG? Maybe I missed it, but as far as I can see the study is about MSG in general.
  21. This is MSG (monosodium glutamate): C₅H₈NO₄Na. Please explain how the artificially made differs from the naturally occurring.
  22. The price per kWh I pay in Thailand is about half the price I paid in my home country (Denmark), so I call it very cheap here.
  23. I was speaking of insurance in general. I'm perfectly aware that not all insurance companies are created equal. As is true for any important financial arrangements, due diligence is paramount before signing up; otherwise, the warm and fuzzy feeling could very well turn into a nightmare.
  24. Taking out insurance is not about saving money. It is to pay someone (the insurance company) to assume the risk if something unforeseen should happen that one may not have the financial means to cover. The “warm fuzzy feeling” is knowing that bankruptcy is not imminent in case of a catastrophic event.
