  1. Sounds rough! Is there anyone else at the Language Centre you could speak too?

11,300 is a fair sum of money to let slip so I wouldn't cut my losses. Even if they don't improve, I'd take the remaining 20 lessons out of spite just to make them go out of their way.

  2. I was told many moons ago just to walk when theres a decent break i the traffic and they'll drive around me if they get near.

Its still tough to do but I've never had a problem yet anywhere in Thailand following that simple rule.

I hate saying things like that.................................tempting fate.....

  3. He does seem to struggle outside of big fights. I just saw the fight and it wasn't his best performance by a long way but the scorecards and the above report flatter Collazo somewhat as they fail to mention that Hatton continually stopped Collazo in his tracks with vicious body shots and sharp combinations to the head and body. His biggest mistakes were not using his mobility or his jab anywhere near enough.

As Redrus says, Hatton has no ego about him and will take a lot from this fight.

Personally I would like to see Hatton/Gatti although their styles are too similar and Gatti is on the decline and could get hurt in a slugfest with Hatton.

I still think Hatton is at least a year away from Mayweather and the talk is of him stepping back down in weight and fighting the winner of Coralles/Castillio.

For my money I think it was a big step to go up in weight and fight straight away for a title after a long lay off so Hatton deserves Kudos for that.

  4. Everywhere gets hot especially at this time of the year. Certainly the North and Northeast get the coolest weather during the Nov-Feb period but if you're coming over from a Europen Winter even to Chiang Mai you're going to find it hot! Trust me!

Its a bit of a daft question anyway really. Weather is not a fixed pattern entity. Its pure chaos.

  5. Yes! Been through it myself.

I got this 'Thailand thing' under my skin after my first visit and it got stronger and stronger.

I Found I had nothing in common with 'non Thailand' people and didn't have time for them. Thankfully through sites like this one amongst others I was able to build a network of mates in the UK who all had the 'Thailand Thing' and so could leave the rest of the boring f*ckers to rattle on about mortgages, cars, kids, income etc.....

  6. Dumpster, the point is that you make all of these throwaway claims about Pattaya and seem unable to back any of them up.

Sure people want your loot. Show me a place on the face of the earth involved in tourism where people don't! Its just that in Pattaya its a lot more obvious!!

  7. I agree with Chon. Spurs have had a great season and have a highly promising young side but to replay the game is just silly and unfair on West Ham who also after a good season will be looking forward to a rest after the FA cup final which they will win!!

A place in the UEFA cup is fair reward for Spurs but it would have been great to have finished above Arsenal.

  8. So your BF is an engineer now but have you ever been to Pattaya for a bit of slap and tickle in the past JD?

I think that being refered to as a sexpat comes with the territory JD.

I bet as soon as you mention to people in the west that you live in Thailand they jump to the same conclusion about you.

As for being a Pattaya 'knocker' well you don't seem to be JD, as you can actually see Pattaya for what it is. Fun.

The people who come down heavy on Pattaya yet seem to know it quite well fit into the characherisation I gave above.

Their opening line in a conversation tends to be 'I haven't been to that sh*thole for years.......apart from the odd weekend with a mate every now and again'

There is no justification in posting negative thoughts on a place unless you are going to offer good reasoning behind it.

The usual cr*p such as 'its not real Thailand' (whatever that is supposed to meant as Pattaya was actually IN Thailand last time I looked and it was certainly real enough last time I was there) and 'its full of sex tourists' or 'its a dangerous place' etc are just regurgitated throwaway comments which no one seems willing or able to quantify ever.

I said in a similar thread recently that if you think Pattaya is dangerous, try Benidorm, Maggaluf, and any of the other resorts on the Med which are clogged with battling Euros night in night out and then compare them to Pattaya.

  9. Who says I don't qualify?

I agree that my aptitude for puzzles is not great so I probably couldn't make it in to a puzzle solving organisation.

I know about MENSA because I have met more than a few people who do little else apart from bleat on and on about their IQ and MENSA membership. Its not the Freemasons you know. MENSA members aren't banned from talking about MENSA outside of their own circles mores the pity!

For me true intelligence is not defined by logic tests. I know many people who are damm clever yet would not be able to pass the MENSA tests merely because it is not in their particular scope of expertise.

I wonder how many MENSA members give too much creedence to their memberships and never stop to think they may have got their jobs simply because they came across as intelligent in the interview?

Looks like JD has little else going for him bar his MENSA membership poor chap!

  10. I love it and will be there this weekend on the sauce!!

The knockers who visit these pages and slag Pattaya only do so to try and make themselves look like more seasoned 'Asia Hands'

I'll wager that ALL of them learnt the ropes in Pattaya before heading off to BKK to marry a 'non bar girl' Thai (probably met her at Novotel disco or similar! ahem!) and then sitting in Washington Square criticising the bar scene before heading off to Nana for a grope.

  11. A load of utter rubbish! And the same can be said for MENSA.

Intelligence is not merely about solving puzzles.

MENSA is an organisation for back slapping self obsessed fools most of whom may be good at solving puzzles but would probably struggle to string a lucid paragraph together on any topic apart from how high their 'IQ' is.

MENSA has no official recognition whatsoever despite what they may think.

    Utter dribble.

  12. Would be good to see another Yorkshire team in the Premiership, if only to see them hammered by all of the Lancastrian sides!!

I reckon Watford will be too strong for Leeds to be honest.

You have too feel for Preston as well. They are becoming perennial chokers in the Championship. Maybe they will be next years Reading.....

  13. To avoid queues and hassles you could go with Jack Golf or similar who charge around 2000B including lunch, Camb visa, transport etc.

You could also get your Cambodian visa in advance from the Embassy in BKK which could save you some hassle.

If you do it alone heres some advice.

Ignore everyone, get your head down and walk past the queues of Thais and straight into Thai Immigration for your exit stamp.

Then cross over to the covered Cambodian Visa section and get your visa there (Should take about 5 mins)

Next, walk through 'no man's land' and get stamped into Cambodia. They will try and sting you for 300B for a turnaround but they settle for 100B. Then cross the road and get stamped out of Cambodia and head back to Thai Immigration!

Its dead easy. If you don't know this border very well you could even get one of the touts to show you the way for 100B. That could save you a lot of hassle.
