  1. Slightly off-topic: A few years ago when applying for retirement extension our bank funds of B800,000 had been in one bank for more than six months. On the day of the application the exchange rate had reduced enough to create a shortfall of B30,000 when the calculation was made.

We were allowed to transfer that B30,000 from a UK bank to make up the shortfall and the application was successful on the same day.

Surely 800,000 baht in a thai bank is 800,000 no matter what the exchange rate does? Am i missing something?

My 800,000 deposited stays the same, obviously plus interests, how can it lose value?

  2. Its funny how they look at you weird when you tell them their version of a word is incorrect, but they say her english teacher (thai) taught her that way. I have to laugh and say "so i am english, but i say the word wrong, and your teacher was right?"

Then she wants to be able to know how to improve by saying the word correctly, but their version is so cute, I don't want her to say it correctly, her version is better. I could never tell her that they are not fingers on her feet, just can't bring myself to tell her....

But on the whole, she speaks clearer english than me, she has even got a Dorset accent at times...

  3. I'd sooner be out, but I think it's better if we're in. (maybe the baht will decline against the pound)
    Maybe, maybe not....who knows?
Professor Patrick Minford -Applied Economics says that the economic outlook for a Brexit is very good...i would be inclined to believe an expert over Cameron and Osbourne, who have their own agendas by keeping us in.
Problem is that Minford is definitely pro Brexit and paid up UKIP member. He has written books recommending leaving

He's Winchester and Balliol. But applied economics at Cardiff? Hardly top flight and definitely not unbiased. He should sort out steel rather than pontificating to sell more books
So thats an IN vote for you then?....next!

Not necessarily. I've been banging on about this not being a trivial issue. There are many facts to be considered. If you think the decision is obvious then you probably have not considered all the angles. Right now I'm 55/45 in favour of staying and fixing issues from the inside. BTW, did you see our government blocked EU plans to put penalty tariffs on Chinese steel? EU is NOT always wrong. And note the UK had the power to block this to the detriment of other EU members. What's going on?

We shouldn't be talking...you are the enemy...55555 VOTE OUT, and TRUMP 2016
  4. Have you noticed that all the 'caring' lefty libs who want to 'save' and protect these refugees/migrants all live in a protective bubble world? By a bubble, i mean higher status, behind secure walls, money, bodyguards, etc., where their normal, every day life would never actually be in contact with them?

Not poor ol'Joe Bloggs on the street, fighting them off their girlfriends....sad really.

  6. They should have a record of my police report I made 8 years ago. I gave it to the Embassy in order to get a new passeport.

You could maybe go to the police and make a new report that you have just lost your old passport, you get your report, and by the time they find out, you would be long gone, and will have left the Kingdom. And you won't be comng back for 10 years at least....its might be worth a try.

I would not go so far as to say one should never lie to officialdom. However, doing so is a serious business. You had better have a damn good reason, and be sure the lie cannot easily be discovered. In this case, a one-day-old police report would not be very consistent with an eight-year-old passport. Further, it helps the OP little. The important information is the passport number used for the original entry. If he knows that, no police report will be necessary (I think). If he does not, a false police report is not going to facilitate the process of finding the record of his entry.

He has run out of options, that was just one on offer, nobody is forcing him to take it....if he wants sound advice, Thai Visa is the last place to look....a lawyer is the best option, we all know that.

  9. Seems like their lives are worthless to themselves, and even their family...you see them on motorbikes, riding with one hand, and holding a child in the other. No protection, nothing.

Or a 5 up family with 3 little 'uns hanging on, no helmets.....i know its their only mode of transport sometimes, but safety is non existent with poorer Thais....shame really.

  10. I find Thai girls that cannot speak english very much, can text or write english quite well. They can read it, and understand, but not hear it and understand....when i first met my wife, she spoke minimal english, but could have a full conversation by reading and writing. Now she speaks english more clearly than me, wiv my Dorset accent.

  11. I answered yes, because Cameron and Merkel will sort them out. Terrorism will become extinct in europe, because our leaders are so strong, and will work together.

And next week pensions will be doubled, all off us living in Thailand will get a Christmas bonus and Tony Blair will become a saint and be loved by all, that is just after there is a fly past of pink pigs:)
Sorry mate, my post was only jesting....when i write what i really think, its taken down...i think EXACTLY the same as you really.
