"If everybody cooperates, we will be able to manage the outbreak by March," he said.
A couple of days ago it was by the end of January! Why don't they do everyone a favour and admit that no-one knows when this plague will be over instead of making ridiculous claims and promises.

Vaccines from both companies must be registered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before they are used. The first lot is expected to be registered on February 14, which is intended to coincide with the Valentine's Day.
I fail to see what registration of a Covid - 19 vaccine has to do with Valentines Day!

I guess that 50-60% efficacy is better than nothing! Isn't this the vaccine that Thailand is getting from China?

Surely, a "Super Poll" would have used a sample of at least 1 million people representing a cross section of society, all ages, all genders, all religions etc. 1839 people is hardly worth the effort, ask a similar number of different people tomorrow and the result would probably be the opposite!

Not before time!! However, last week, because these fast tests were being purchased by members of the public, the Government were saying that they were inaccurate, and should not be used as only trained medical staff could use fast tests. Strange that it is now convenient to use them, when most other countries have used them for months and found them extremely accurate! I agree with Thailand Ryan and hope that this testing will be rolled out nationwide for free so that we can all have a true picture of the numbers infected, unless, of course, the government are economical with the truth as to the real extent of the problem.

Sorry to appear ignorant, but the article does nothing to explain what "Anti-dumping duty" is or why Thailand might have to pay it! So can anybody enlighten me please?

Isn't his brother something to do with the National Lottery, the most popular method of gambling in the country! Beats me why this gambling activity is legal if other forms of gambling are illegal! Double standards or what! Similarly, people are allowed to gamble on the Stock Market! For goodness sake, legalise all gambling and tax it.

The first lot of 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be given to high-risk groups, including physicians, nurses and other health workers. Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health, Anutin Charnvirakul, says the government has to be sure the vaccine is safe and effective before it can be administered.
Rather than try it out on front-liners, if the "government has to be sure the vaccine is safe and effective before it can be administered" let the government be the guinea pigs, after all we wouldn't miss any of them!

I guess the government will interpret the drop of over 200 in positive cases as having control over the virus! Meaningless figures without the number of tests conducted!

How do they define "brought in"? Are all 577 illegal entries? If so heads should roll! I guess that a few came in without quarantine and the rest caught the virus by being in close proximity with their fellow countrymen. Outrageous xenophobia by the report writer, I believe! I thought that there were laws against this!

It just goes to show, that when "widespread testing" is conducted in a very specific area, many positive cases are found! No testing = No positive cases! The government are very reticent about publishing the number of tests conducted and in which areas. Surely they must have enough test kits as they purchased millions last Feb/March. I read somewhere that Thai tests take 4-5 days to get result. In UK, my son (NHS nurse) and daughter in law (NHS doctor) self test 3 times a week and the test takes 35 minutes to get a result! Wake up Thailand and get testing.

Like most of those who don't care about the ordinary person in the street, this guy clearly hasn't a clue about what is going on! If he is a "Vice" Governor he should stick to controlling vice!

He can be as concerned as he likes, but actions speak louder than words! There is no enforcement, hence no respect for the law! Drink driving is a problem in any country, but they take a very serious view of it with hefty fines and a minimum 12 months disqualification for first offence and often imprisonment for a subsequent offence. In addition there are mandatory alcohol awareness courses plus any insurance premiums afterwards are raised considerably. Drink drivers will not be caught whilst sitting drinking coffee under an awning, they need to be out patrolling the roads in cars or proper motorcycles. Policing in this country is a disgrace! Concern doesn't catch criminals!

I see the decision taken by the Police to reduce the number of roadside breath tests to reduce the spread of Covid as contributing to this appalling statistic. They should be sued for dereliction of a duty of care! Instead they are all sat around drinking coffee in
2 hours ago, Jonathan Fairfield said:checkpoints nationwide to provide roadside assistance as well as safety guidance
Perhaps they should think of another strategy as they have tried this one for years with no success. I have never seen anyone stop at one of these "assistance" points which are often in the most inconvenient places to stop!

Of Course they are down! Only last week it was reported here on Thai Visa that the police announced that they were not going to do roadside testing due to concerns about Covid -19!!
"Thai police will reduce the amount of alcohol breath tests performed at roadside checkpoints during the New Year holidays.
Speaking on Friday, national police chief Suwat Jangyodsuk said the measure was necessary in order to help prevent the spread of coronavirus."

The Council of State said that of the total Bt1 trillion borrowing, Bt450 billion was earmarked for vaccine procurement and another Bt550 billion to relieve burdens on people hit by the fallout of Covid-19.
Another Bt400 billion has been allocated for economic revival, though this can be redirected to the relief fund.
I may be wrong, but 450 billion + 550 billion = 1000 billion = 1 trillion! Where is the additional 400 billion coming from! ????

What about those many migrant workers who are the backbone of this country, doing all those jobs that the Thais don't want to do? And also farangs who have lived here for years, many of whom are teachers educating Thai children!
