So here is my effort.
Have 3 x 360w mono panels (11,340bht) with Souer 1000w GTI (2900bht)
Had some steel already but had to buy two more lengths at 340 bht (780 bht), buy 4mmsq wire (247Bht) and MC4 connectors ( 2x 2into1 and 1pair) (290bht)
Have a couple more things to buy to tidy up ( i had conduit already but no clips etc) so total spend should be less than 16,000Bht and i have made the frames to take another 3 panels so shouldnt be as expensive for stage 2
So i eventually got it connected and producing around 15:30 on Tuesday but unfortunately it was mainly raining and cloudy until yesterday evening but by end of play yesterday i had produced 3.95kwh in 15 hours.
However today which was mainly quite sunny i managed 5kwh in 10 hours(i lost two hours this morning as waited until big lightning storm passed before switching on)

Yes, unfortunately i have already ordered an inverter and not seen that function on the specs.
Due to my limited competence i have gone for the simplest option available and gone for Britmantoo's recommendation on that front.
Not ordered any panels yet, as mentioned by someone, the prices seem to be inflated to what they were just a couple of months ago but i might have to bite the bullet soon as my stuck at home due to Covid projects are mostly complete, Already painted external house walls, dug up and relaid patio , regrouted all floor tiles in the house and downstairs bathroom so need something else to occupy myself, especially with the kids going back to school

So, after reading this and Crossys car port thread, if the meter man were to see the meter running backwards, the likely worst outcome would be they would change the meter to one that wont run backwards. Is this correct?
With the size of system i am planning, (<2kw) i dont think i would be exporting much most days anyway and could probably just run a couple of aircons through the day of the meter reading (+/- 1) rather than turn off the system, at least then we would be getting a nice cool, de-humidified house for a few days.
your thoughts and wisdom welcome

provided you don't let your meter reading be in the negative to last reading, or that it's not running backwards when it's read.
Yes, thats the only thing that worries me. no problem when im at home but when travel restrictions lifted, i work overseas, so it will be in the wifes totally forgetful hands to unplug the GTI on meter reading day. Looking back at our last six months it has always been on the same date, ie 5th of the month but now thinking more about it, what if that falls on a holiday and they come early. What are the consequences if they see the meter running backwards?
Edit. just seen Crossys post #20, that would solve it,

I wouldn't go over a couple of kW of connected panels just plugged into an outlet, but it's a quick and easy way to get going with a few panels.
We're currently pushing 21A from our car port, I'm going to up rate the 220V cable from the current 2.5mm2 (which gets decidely warm) to 4mm2.
Yes, wouldnt be doing that as my carport is on the north side of the house, i will only be putting one row of panels in as a second row would be in shadow of the house for most of the year.
it is 5.8m wide so will be limited to 5 panels , possibly 6 with a small overhang to the sides depending on exact dimensions of panels i buy.
There is a rake of 5 degrees down towards the north so was comtemplating making frames that will be hinged on the south end so that during April-August they would be in lay flat position (ie 5 degrees tilt to North) then during Sept to March tilted 15-20 degrees to the South. Not sure yet if the added expense of having to make individual frames for each seperate panel and having to raise/lower them twice a year with my proclivity to mash my fingers would be reclaimed by the extra watts garnered

connected to cheap plug in grid tie inverters like this.
I've got those Suoer GTIs (one 600w, one 1000w).
Work well but the fans are a bit noisy.
Each 330w panel generates 1 unit/day.

So, if i understand this correctly, you connect your PV panels to your GTI and then you just plug these into any household socket? Or have i completely misunderstood.
looking at possibly DIY 6 pv panels onto carport roof but was worried about the tie in to my electricity system as not had the best of experiences with local "qualified electricians"

Had this conversation with the wife, she just accepts it will be the same cost as normal, tried to explain that the term isnt as long, extra is paid for electricity in IEP as classes have A/C which hasn't been used and they haven't been paying the teachers ( not the Foreign teachers anyway, not sure about the Thai teachers ) and they haven't been giving the children school meals, again part of the package, so how can they justify the same pricing.
Not the end of the world for us but i know for a lot of the parents, school fees are a major part of their expenditure but they all just seem to accept that the costs will remain the same without questioning why

BOT implemented pre-emptive measures on Friday telling commercial banks to hold off on paying interim dividend and buying back shares.
is this a legitimate response, to order banks not to pay dividends.
Seems to me to be an easy way for those making the decision to make some big money since after they announced this, banking shares tumbled 5% when the SET opened on Monday

It could create a big problem, especially if it leads to another 'shutdown', this is why I expect there will be multiple countries on the list and the flights will all start around the same time.
It's not just up to Thailand who comes here, they will need to agree reciprocal terms with other countries. I can only imagine the negotiations happening right now.
China will be demanding other countries are allowed to travel starting on the very same day the Chinese flights begin - the others won't be so keen on that for obvious reasons. They won't want to become Chinas excuse.
I'm thinking of the countries which don't kiss Chinas ass, countries like Japan.
I think if there were to be a rise in infection after letting certain "preferred countries" back in, the numbers of infections will start slowly and increase slowly at first giving plenty of time to suppress the new cases long enough to invite additional "dirty countries" back in and allocate blame and negatativity accordingly

There is no way in hell a child has the opportunities in Thailand then they do living in the west.not true. And the quality of life is nowhere near the west. Make all the excuses you want, not a chance anyone should be raising their children in Thailand.i don't see young families in the west lined up at immigration trying to get their families a Thai visa because it it THE place to raise a family
So you say i am wrong in my believe that Thailand is better for my children to grow up than the UK,
Could you tell me on what basis as.....
2 hours ago, Ron jeremy said:the vast majority of the home country bashing is from people in the UK, I have never been,

In fact , do you actually have children of your own? You only talk of Nephews and Nieces but you think you know better than i, how best to to raise my children!!!
3 hours ago, Ron jeremy said:don't see young families in the west lined up at immigration trying to get their families a Thai visa
Not eligible so why would they?

Funny that, i have one son in his 20's from UK, Guess where he has chosen to be, go on guess, need a clue, it aint the UK

Working offshore, i have seen a lot of the world and nowhere is perfect but for me the good in Thailand definately outweighs the bad.
I have two children to my Thai wife and believe they get a better education (private school) and happier upbringing here than they would back in the UK and for me that is the most important thing.
i would be devastated if i had to return to live in the Uk as i still love my life here and have no intention of leaving given a choice

If they want to give back the paid public holidays, then why not make Loy Kratong an extended public holiday. Not sure what date this year but usually its the end Oct/early Nov, that way the schools can get back the half term holiday they want to cancel, as going from july to Xmas/NY without a break is IMO far to much for the students, hopefully borders are open by then and they will be able to showcase a quite pleasent festival to potential tourists and maybe the local populace will hopefully be gainfully employed again and actually get to spend time with their families on a different festival than songkran for a change

But according to TAT, tourists are going to be flocking to Thailand as soon as the restrictions are lifted!

Should read - They are more concerned about universities as students there are - "likely to start re-organising protests"

That's my problem. I have been here 7 years and never done a 90 day report, due to travels. Had been advised that I must have a 90 day report to obtain CR at CW imm office. My useless Oz embassy does not provide service to provide CR, others do. However with Mr Covid I will most likely have to do one. Pretty sure that if it's your first you need attend imm office.
Me too, was my first 90 day for about 4 years, i work offshore so was also always in / out before needed to do one.
To be fair, it was quite painless, arrived around 10:30 and got 90 day report done by 11;15. got queue ticket number for cert of residence (counter B) and was seen to immediately as no one in front. only problem was i had to nip downstairs to get photocopy of the 90 day report confirmation i had just done but got that and was sorted and out of there by 11;45.
so now i am all sorted apart from DL as just after i received the cert through the post, they announced that they were extending the validity of old DL for another month
