  1. The wife and I have our SS direct deposited into our US bank account. When we first heard about the stimulus checks, I looked on Google and it said we didn't have to do anything and we would receiving the money.

I got my $1200 by direct deposit in July, and the wife received hers by check in the mail today. She sent the check by EMS to our daughter who will deposit it into our US bank.

Not sure when the check was sent. No date on the envelope or the check. So, for us anyway, the system is working, just slow.

  2. Filing the fbar is simple for me, but the wife doesn't use the computer so that would be a problem when I'm no longer around.  This year, she closed a fixed account and withdrew all but $9,000 from a savings account. When we need money, she just calls our US bank to make a transfer to her savings account here, always making sure there will be less than $10k in the account.

It's a bit of a pain and we're losing out on some interest, but I don't see any other way. It pizzes me off because we do everything by the book and I feel we're being penalized for it.

I don't even want to get started on the trouble we had with the Patriot Act!

  3. I just got my first ever flu shot and the doctor said at my age (70), she suggests I get a pneumonia shot.  She said it's one shot now and another in a year and That's good for life.

I've never heard of it, so I said I'll think about it.

I did a Google search and all the websites say people over the age of 65 should get the shot. But, they don't all agree on how many. Some say one shot is enough and others say it should be followed by a second shot a year later.

I'd like to know if anyone has had a pneumonia shot and what they think, good idea?, one shot or two?

  4. What are we supposed to put in the box for SS/CLAIM NO: ?

I looked on my Medicare Card and it said my claim no. was my SS number followed my the letter A.

Also, my wife just started collecting SS in April and hasn't received anything with a claim no. Should she just put her SS no in that box?

  5. My wife and I are non-filers and collecting SS retirement. When I first heard about the stimulus checks, I did a Google search and it said we didn't have to do anything, that the money would be deposited to our direct deposit US bank account.

We haven't done a thing and today there was a $1,200 deposit. It didn't say if the deposit was for me or the wife and I'll just have to wait and see if we get another $1,200 or not.

  6. We've always had a cheap Nokia phone just to make phone calls. Now that we're getting older, we're having trouble seeing the buttons and small screen. So, I was thinking about getting a smart phone because it has a bigger screen. When we get a new Nokia, we just switch the sim card to the new phone and it's set to go. We don't want internet or anything, we just want a phone to make calls. I'd like to know if I buy a smart phone, can I just switch the sim card like I do with the Nokia and then just use it to make calls?

  7.  Like Xylophone, I also have slow motility and constipation. It is recommended to eat a low fiber diet for slow motility and a high fiber diet for constipation. I've tried both and didn't notice a difference.

I don't want to get hooked on laxatives, so I seldom use them. Prune juice has worked very well for me. Last night I took milk of magnesia, and this morning not so much as a fart. So, I drank a large glass of prune juice and 5 minutes later I was on the toilet.

Prune juice is the only thing keeping me going right now, but I really would like to figure out what I need to get my system somewhere near normal.

  8. Thanks Arjen,

I take care of the temple dogs and they eat all kinds of junk. They get Heartguard, but I know that doesn't kill all kinds of worms. I've bought worm tablets from the vet before, but not sure just what kind of worms they kill.

When I ask the vet how often to give the tablets, she just says,  Up to you. Not really the answer I want.

  9. Google   "nexguard for mange".

Nexguard is a flea and tick treatment, but also cures mange.

For fleas and ticks it is given once a month. For mange, give one tab, then another at 14 days, another at 28 days, then once a month.

I did this with a temple dog after all else failed, and the mange was gone in a month or two. She is now a clean, beautiful and happy dog.

Nexguard is about bt 1,000 for a pack of 3 tabs.
