One of our temple dogs, a male about 8-9 years old, must have had a traumatic experience as a puppy. He is afraid of people and won't go near anyone but my wife and me. It took about 3-4 months of patience and good food before he would let us touch him. Now, we can pet him and he lets me check for ticks, but he is very nervous even after years of knowing us.
The problem is, he has never had any shots. He gets Heartguard Plus every month and is wormed once a year, but no shots. The other dogs, I put in the pickup and take to the vets, no problem, but I think that would be too traumatic for this dog and I'm afraid he might bite me if I tried to pick him up. I've tried to give him a bath, but he won't allow it. He's afraid of just about everything.
I'd like to know if I should just forget about the shots, or if someone has a suggestion how to get him vaccinated?

I want a copy of my fbar report.
The instructions say, after filling out the form, "Download a copy (read only), and keep for your records".
What does "read only" mean, and how do I get a copy?
-
They get all of that. What are the "other wormers" you mentioned?
-
My dogs get Heartguard every month. Heartguard only kills a couple of kinds of intestinal worms, so should I be giving them something in addition to Heartguard?

I just did a SWIFT transfer for $11,000. After reading some of the posts here, I'd like to know, what could the IRS do that could cause me problems?
-
I was mainly looking for a surgeon with lots of experience and his price was $4,000.
I checked and the price in Thailand was $8,000 with a surgeon with less experience.
An experienced Dr. in the US was $11,000.
I feel I got my money's worth.

I chose the Dr. on recomendation of another TVF member. No incontinence. No sexual dysfunction.
I was getting up 7-8 times a night. Now, once or twice. A couple of times, I've slept through the night.
Dr. told me to plan on 5 days in India. I thought a couple extra days to be safe. No problems.

I'm one of the guys who went to India for prostate surgery. I was having serious BPH problems and I felt it would not be long before I couldn't urinate at all.
I was dead set against surgery. The thought of anything being inserted into my urethra, really gave me the creeps, but medication didn't work, so I felt I had no choice. I was surprised that after making the arrangements to go to India, the anxiety went away and I was actually looking forward to it.
I had the Greenlight Laser Surgery. The price was US $4,000, which I thought was very reasonable. One night in hospital and one week in New Delhi.
The surgery itself was really nothing. I was asleep, so I felt nothing. I had a catheter for 3 days. That was a bit uncomfortable, but not painful.
That was 18 months ago, and today everything is working the way it should. I'm very, very, pleased with the outcome.

Because my wife doesn't use the computer, I have set it up with our joint US bank account to make one large, annual, ACH transfer to her BKKB account.
Now that the ACH transfers are coming to an end, I'd like to know if any of the other transfer options has the ability to make recurring transfers?
-
Could someone please explain why a SWIFT transfer is supposedly expensive compared with an ACH transfer?
From what I can see, a SWIFT transfer is as easy and fast as an ACH transfer and Bangkok Bank charges the same for both. I assume the expensive part is the fee charged by the US sending bank?
-
A few months ago, my wife wanted to apply for ach transfers from our US bank (Morgan Stanley), to her BKKB account here. I have been using the ach transfers to our joint account here for a few years now and it was very easy to set up and there was no problem with the trial transfers.
However, this time, the trial transfers would not go through. I called my US bank and explained the situation. They didn't know what the problem was, but emailed me a form where I checked the box saying it was for outgoing transfers only. My wife signed the form and emailed it back. It was approved, no trial transfers, and she successfully made a transfer the next day.
Not sure if that would work now, but did a few months ago.

Our first Issan fuse box was just a big knife switch and a buss fuse. During a thunderstorm, I opened the knifeswitch thinking, I'm all set now. Then we got a close lightning hit. The lightning jumped right across the knife switch and blew out a couple of lights.
Now we have a real fuse box and so far we've had a few close strikes that tripped the main breaker and no damage.
I now know a direct hit can fry everything, so I'm wondering, would it be possible to put a big plug in the line before the fuse box. Then just unplug that instead of unplugging every appliance during a thunderstorm?

I just want to report on the temple dog I mentioned in the op.
Last week, she got her second dose of Nexguard. She is tolerating it well, no side effects at all. And, her skin has cleared up completely. You would never know this dog ever had mange. I know it's still early, but so far I'm very pleased with the results.
This dog had a rough start in life, so it's great to see her healthy and happy.

Huh, I'll be damned.
Thanks Steve

Bankruatsteve,
Could you please explain what you mean by, "anything sensitive", and also, how can something fry when not plugged in?
I always unplug the laptop, television, and refridgerator, thinking at least those will be safe.

Durian seedlings are sold all over Issan, but I've never heard of anyone being successful and producing a single fruit.
They say it's the weather.

I just want to update everyone on al007.
I was concerned as I haven't heard from him in awhile. Sent him an email and got a pleasant reply.
He is doing very well and is in great spirits. He is doing so well, he said he probably will just keep the colostomy and not have reversal surgery. He said why rock the boat. I think that is a wise decision.
He has some more tests coming up next month and I hope everything turns out well for him, he deserves it.

Thanks ww89,
I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping for the best for this dog.

I went to the Khon Kaen University Animal Hospital today and got some Nexguard. The pet store there has everything.
I gave the dog the first dose and am watching her closely, hoping there are no bad reactions.
I know the ivermectin works well and it cleared her up in about a month. The vet said she was all set, but I asked for one more dose to be sure. Wednesday, I noticed it was back, and yesterday and today, I can see it is spreading. This is a shame as the mange appeared to be gone for a month or more.
I was reading one website that said ivermectin is great, but the mange will return when the medicine is stopped. If she tolerates the nexguard and it clears up the mange, I will keep her on it.
-
Thanks for the replys,
I'm going in to Khon Kaen tomorrow. I'm not even sure if I can find Nexguard there. If anyone has it, it would be the University Animal Hospital, so I'll start there.

I've been caring for a neglected temple dog and now she is healthy and happy, but she is having a problem with mange.
My vet treated her with ivermectin and it seemed to work well, but it's been a month and the mange is back.
After a lot of research, I think the best thing is to try Bravecto or Nexguard. I'm just not sure which to use. They both sound good but I worry about the large dose in Bravecto. Instead of giving Bravecto every 3 months, perhaps it would be better to give Nexguard, with a smaller dose of the drug, every month.
The dog is 7 months old and about 45-50 pounds.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Artisi, Under water,
The pump I looked at comes with a flat wire about 1 meter long.
Lots of youtube videos, but not sure if they have whats needed here.
There's a real electrician next to the pump shop, so he can probably fix me up.

Thanks again,
I turn down the flow rate and get the same results, shut off after 10 min.
This week, after the fun is over, I'm going to buy a new submersible. Then I'll have a new set of challenges. I'll need to learn how to splice the cable so it's waterproof and decide if I want to install a check valve or not. The last submersible had no checkvalve so the water would siphon back down the well when I shut it off. That was a good thing when I pulled the pump out the other day. It was all this old guy could do to pull up the pump. If it was full of water, I'm sure I couldn't do it.
No problem, I like a challenge and gives me something to do.
Thanks again. Z

Thanks Wildewillie,
The dog isn't mine, he lives at the temple. They were being neglected so I feed them and take care of their medical needs. I hate to traumatize him any more, but if that's what it takes, I'll do it.
