Can you quote the relevant section of immigration law where it is written ????

Its one of those thing that keeps perpetuating, but its not written in any law. Yes, even immigration perpetuate the same and think its written down somewhere.

I must have read 20-30 of these "its the law" threads but to date nobody , including immigration, can show where this law is written.

13 years I have been looking for it.................................... it does not exist in Thai law.

Did you read the complete post???

I did not suggest there was a “grace” period.

In some cases in the past Udon immigration office HAS accepted a slightly late application and charger the overstay fine. They have also said that anything over 7 days would not be accepted.

Also the time before is 30 days for the majority of offices only some allow 45 days

<removed> I was suggesting that some people could infer that there was a 7 day tolerance. There isn't - officially.

The official Thai Immigration website quotes 45 days before............................ some offices allow less. I believe Surin is 30 days, for example, and Buriram 40.

I'm a romantic, I've travelled all over Asia for romance, and can clearly state the sex was always better when I was paying. Whenever they 'loved' me, the sex was dull as ditch water.

    Getting paid excites them.

Getting paid also usually (not always) carries a responsibility for carrying out a satisfactory service. Some do that very well and are worth future engagements.

My guess  is that there will be few if any offices who will accept a late (over 7 days) application for an annual or 90 day extension.

Be careful..... unless I am wrong (always possible), there is no 7 day 'grace' period for an annual extension. The due date is the due date and you can apply (in theory) up to 45 days before that date. AFAIK there is no provision in Thai Immigration rules for an application after the due date.

It will be interesting to see how they do social distancing. And the attendants of course will not serve food. They will give you a wipe to wipe down your area and your tray table so you can eat the peanut butter sandwiches you brought.

Don't think you will be allowed to use the potty. 5555

Save that peanut butter  -  you will not be allowed to take your own food.

Just the sort of comment that has them nodding sagely in the students union bar.

For the rest of us can you please explain how long a business can go on paying wages when it is no longer trading.

Depends how solvent it was and how necessary it was to retain those staff.

Fair play to Cornish Carlos for stumping up the wages for March.

You are obviously in a fortunate position that doesn't require an income then... Easy to support further lock downs..

Millions around the world are not so lucky and are at the limit already..

We had to close our restaurant and lay off 6 staff, so that's 6 families without a wage earner !!! You tell them it's way too soon...

Were you not still paying them?

Fortunately, you are in Thailand without the employee responsibilities that attach to Western businesses.

I live in Ubon and this coming Friday, April 17, I planned to visit a village in the northern part of Roi-et province to sign new season seed production contracts. The drive would take me through Yasothon province. I just inquired at the provincial offices in Ubon and they said they would issue me a "pass" to travel out of Ubon province and then I would have to get another "pass" in Yasothon province and another "pass" in Roi-et province. The meeting in the Roi-et village would take a couple of hours but the Ubon office told me that after the meeting I would be put in quarantine there for 14 days. What they told me may not be entirely correct but it is too risky to take the risk. We have postponed the meeting to a later date when these travel restrictions are lifted. Also similar meetings in Kalasin, Mukdahan and Amnart provinces.

Ridiculous to even contemplate doing this at the present time.

Surely it is not beyond the wit of those involved to exchange production contracts electronically and post/defer wet signatures.

    5,000,000 people x 6,000 THB on average/month = 30,000,000,000 THB/month x 3 month = 90 Billion

The question is: What will happen after 3 month ???

Anybody involved in tourism will not have a job until next year January [if lucky !!!]

And with close to zero THB coming into SoSe right now, how will they fund anything ???

The system will explode it seems. And with every day that this lock down nonsense continues it gets worse.

    "lock down nonsense"..

Could you explain what you mean by that ...

Yes, on the whole. I was even looking at  property out there myself some years ago. The 30 minute trip in is not my issue, but getting home after a night out, or even a trip to a bar to watch some football. Still, all irrelevant these days.

Hopefully not too long before the night out option is back on the agenda.

These days I rarely bother with bars but occasionally I will meet up with a friend to watch a live game in Pattaya - because of the time difference, alcohol intake etc I always stay over. In that sense I make use of Pattaya when I need to, rather than go out habitually as I did in the past. That change in lifestyle makes Bang Saray more appealing.

At the moment that sounds pretty good.... but under normal circumstances it works both ways. I live well out of town and miss the proximity of a lot of things. Bang Saray would be boring.

I am not bored with Bang Saray but I don’t need many of Pattaya’s attractions. For those that I do occasionally use it is a 30 minute trip in.

    Horses for courses.
