  1. Sorry to reiterate, but, i don't have a "lease", mine is a "life's usufruct contract" (my life), i don't want to transfer the usufruct as i understand that this will not be possible, but made a lease agreement with someone else, which obviously will be restricted to the former usufruct's contract limitations and also any possible other limits we might both agree with.

Also, in case of a breach of contract by this new leasee (NOT agreed by the usufructuary), will the land get back to the usufructuary or to the land's owner??

  2. Our house is several meters away from the road, so, plenty of spaces even for the largest of the vehicles to "invade" the sides of the road in case of necessity.

One day, a neighbours located a few blocks away, decided to build up an extension to his house, a sort of closed up patio made of canes, complitely covering up the footpath fronting his house, with the new front door getting directly on the road (!).

One day, an old men driving an old trashed's pick-up truck, crashed slightly against this new structure, then he stop and start shouting something with an angry tune against that building.

The owner was there and came out, then he start pointing to my house, saying something like "do you see how big that foreigner's house is?! Go and talk with him!" (as to say that the fault of that accident was because he had to make bigger his home to not lose face or something, so, it was MY fault (!) ).

The old driver was somewhat satisfact with that explanation and agreed, he then went back into his old car and kept going to his own way.

  3. Your question is not very clear

Okay, i will elaborate it a bit.
One day Mr Freetchai saw Mr Guava on the road, and ask to him " would you like to use the fruits of my land? ", Mr Guava replies "why not? After all, i feel comfortable with fruits" , so they stipulate a usufruct's contract for the life of Mr Guava, which clearly states that he can do any possible use of this piece of land, as long as it allowed by the low, so, no Beer-Bar for Mr Guava, but Bar-B-Q will be okay.
Mr Guava then decides that he would like to take a break or two from that place, but needs to find out if he can get it back after, so he thinks about stipulating a lease with a passer-bye, but he doesn't know if the low will allow him to get back the usufructed land at the end of this lease, or if the low states that the land has to go back to Mr Feetchai(the land owner) instead, even if Mr Guava is still alive and then the original life's usufruct contract should be still in place in his view.
    Any takers?
  4. How could anybody who has lived in Thailand long enough to get a Thai driving license, stand being in the U.K. for more than a week anyway?

Last time I went I left after 5 days, and that was too long.

Almost endless reasons, i will start from a few that tends to go unnoticed.

Lets start from the nature, back in the old continent, we are surrounded by thousands of different nice fragrances, from flowers to the breeze coming from the woods, i still remember the Thoys wondering about all the different odours they never experienced on these shores, plus the sun here it's really deadly (and apparently not just the sun).

Here there are also some good fragrances around, but compared to the vastity we have back home, they are really really limited.

Sometime i miss the winter too, whom has never appreciated the cold weather we have in EU at least once?

The food also it's a big issue, locals have a few very good tasting dishes, but generally, they put into anything edible way too much spices, to the point you can't really taste any flavours, they literally love to burn their own palates, hygiene also it's a big issue, and not just about food, it brings me to the brink of phuket just to think about it....and i have been around for more than a decade now.

All the crawling insects and wild, lethal beasts you randomly see around are another big no-no, i have never been beaten by so many mosquitoes in my entire life, and the itch it's so intense and last many weeks (!) plus you can't even hear them when they fly around you, the exact opposite of our EU mosquitoes.

The attitude of the people it's also one of the major issues, the famous "thainess" that foreigners can't understand (ah ahh).

I have no problems at all in admitting that at first i was so attracted by all those smiles and caring manners, but start to feel disgusted when i finally understood what was really behind it, just a wish to cheat, pure ignorance for which the way they are been brought up have many responsibility, starting from their very own family "rules" to the school system in place.

The fake sentiments they show towards their own pets it's not to be diminished too, have you ever seen all those happy people be so enthusiastic about their new "living prides" to show up and play with, just to let them die as soon as they get bored of them, without showing any mercy? What sort of human beings are these????

You show them kindness and respect and they take that as a sort of weakness and get the idea you are bowing to their superiority and start to take advantage of whatever they can? (!@#!) really, i had enough, in our lands we have many problems, but i think i had enough of what i have seen in these years here, you just have to look at everyday news to see that a 3 years old would make more sense than the generally apparently accepted "common sense" , really, a genuine swearing would be more refreshing than these stories apparently materializing from a different universe...and to stay on topic, a more strict adherence to road's safety and regulation would not hurt

Thailand it's still good for short holidays though, but make sure that if you come with your gf, as the new PM said, she's ugly, or it will not be safe here...and as the recent facts re-confirmed, it's not just her that would not be safe, it's getting increasingly more violent and hostile around, so , maybe better to have a stroll inside our zoo's wild beasts cages, not many burmeses to take advantage of there...

  5. The information I gave earlier was off my works site as I work for DVLA,

Wouldn't you happen to know how does it works?

On the website i could not find an answer to my questions, i did sent them an e-mail, but i doubt i will get an answer, nowadays we are surrounded from gimmicks and the likes....

    Specifically referring to this:

As a visitor you can drive any small vehicle (eg car or motorcycle) listed on your full and valid licence for 12 months from when you last entered Great Britain.

So does that means that one can just get "unlimited" 12 months periods, as long as it get out in time?

And there is also a specific amount of time to stay out to "reset the clock" ???

It sounds a bit as the (former) thai visa's run if it works that way.

Thank you all, so far your infos have been brilliant :)

  7. Hi guys!

I was wondering for how long can someone drive in UK with a 5 years thai driving's license(not the temporary 1 year license).

If i remember this right, was either 6 months or 1 year before a person has to convert it by basically doing both the theory and pratical tests in full again.

And what about the one for the motorcycle, same thing applies too i guess??

    Thank you :)

  8. attachicon.gifImageUploadedByThaivisa Connect Thailand1412865936.636578.jpg

It was nice to be treated kindly and to meet some of the boys in blue. I've found this to be the case 99.9% of the time in Thailand.

Sorry i didn't pay much attention to the pic before my previous post, so i don't think anybody had a go with their usual lines....

    biggrin.png

They also have strange uniforms, are these from the immigration or tourist police??

When i encounter road's blocks they are all dressed in brown uniforms, unless they are military

  9. " Looked at my DL. Made small talk with the wife. I smiled a lot and said falang put Thai mai dai. They laughed. Bye bye. "

So none of the BiB actually did try to fix an extramarital affair with your missus??? I don't believe it!

It seems to be one of their main purposes when they stop a westerner with his lady next to him, probably they don't expect a foreigner to understand what they say or perhaps are just silly as a very large amount of the locals i have meet with......

  10. Good to know, thanks Goshawk, that's even better, as if this snake it's not venomous it doesn't need to be suppressed, i will try to make one of those stick usually used to pick up leaves for a safe removal and throw it back in the fields.

Accordingly to this link, there is been confusion over these snakes till very recent years, by the "professionals" of the field

    http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/full/191952/0

  11. Mrjlh, i did read the info i was looking for and i also understood them (something that you and somebody else here apparently lack of, understand what you read), that reading actually confirmed i did the right thing, but as i wasn't sure of it, i did request some more accurate knowledge about it, for which i am grateful for the reply and that's all about it, how long do you want to continue in your useless and inappropriate replies? Really, i stand by what i wrote, just try to understand it, it will cause you no harm, unless the snake we are discussing about (!)

  12. Mrjlh you might want to read the whole thread again and again, at least until you understand the difference between some of the points been written above, i will write here some of them just to make it easier for you.

    1) There is a big difference between the words "lethal" and "dangerous", so, just because something might not kill you, that doesn't mean it is not dangerous, etc...

    2) A "street" it's something completely different from a "home", unless you are a hobo, this kind of confusion is not excusable....

    3) Standing still when you already spotted it inside the house, in my personal experience only contributes to let it hide in a less visible space inside the place where you live, rarely they will decide to take the right direction, so, even if you forget about the anxiety of having a possible lethal threat inside your own home, you might get bitten in a multitude of different involuntary unfortunate events later on...

    4) If you have pets living inside your home, or kids, people with disabilities, etc, they are endangered too, not everyone it's "enlighten" as you are...

    5) Not all people decides to step on a snake because they are willing to, think for example, of those brief moments when at night, you do some steps in the dark toward the light switch....or when you move during your sleep in your bed, what happen if you cover with your body a snake lying in there??

6,7,8,9,....) Should i keep going or have you done your "maths" yet?

    Thank you for your concerns.

  13. What they need to do is allow an agency from outside Thailand to go over the so called evidence as well as check the supposed dna samples taken from the local "mafia"

I don't think the BiB will ever allow an alien to investigate their own men, do anyone still remember the killing of that poor boy, Leo Del Pinto, and the absurd cover up made by the local BiB's boss??

    Welcome to Thailand....

  14. Yes it must to be a Kukri, thanks Canuckamuck and well done for the right pick thumbsup.gif

After reading about it, i will still consider this snake reasonably dangerous....

" these teeth are used in a slashing manner which can cause gaping wounds that may bleed profusely - probably an effect of the snake's saliva which is rumored to possess anticoagulant qualities."

"possess weak venom, which is injected by means of a pair of enlarged teeth at the back of the maxillae (upper jaw). These "fangs" typically point backwards rather than straight down, possess a groove which channels venom into the prey, and are located roughly halfway back in the mouth, which has led to the vernacular name of "rear-fanged snakes"

For me that's enough to make it an undesirable home's guest laugh.png
