Well your right the view was not spectacular before, but at least you did not feel like you dinning in a prison mess hall......I and I am sure plenty of other people will be giving the food court a pass or at least not going as often because of this  new parking garage...

Sure to take their 40 baht custom elsewhere.

If it were just another card in my wallet that I had to show when I crossed a border, it wouldn’t be so bad. Showing your passport when you enter a country is one thing, but would you choose to live in Thailand if you were required to show it every time you entered a restaurant?

Having the mobile phones and apps involved makes it that much more off-putting. Yes, I know my phone is tracking me all the time, but I can still leave it on the dresser and go out for dinner.

Nobody leaves their phone on the dresser when going out. It goes with you everywhere and at all times. Try some other excuse.

  3. One might make provision for a nurse care-giver, but if your condition escalates to that of needing hospital treatment and ICU then that is on a different level. Only a limited number are covered for this. It's a judgment call if and when to return to one's home country. Declining physical mobility surely a game changer. However, a number determined only to leave after its all over.

From Canada , AIS will NOT accept my Canadian Credit Card . Told them to stop service -- but they said : MUST PAY your outstanding balance first ...  go figure this out  .....  totally NO LOGIC  .....

H'mm. I must admit I assumed that since I am able to use UK Amex to pay bill inside Thailand, I can continue to do so when outside Thailand.

  5. There is no magic solution. Whatever the OP does will result in him losing something. I would say though that giving "The Talk" is a waste of time. Return to Europe/stay with the wife and child/move out are the choices in front of him and all are plus/minus. It sounds though that for now it is a slow burner of indifference so can be waited out until the Covid situation gets better. She is neither playing up or throwing tantrums so at least that is a plus. However I would take the opportunity to do two things. The first would be to make sure personal finances are sorted and salted away for options. The second thing would be to buy some extra chocolates for the dog.

  6. If you think Sophon is a waste of money at 3600 BAHT a year, then welcome to the vastly more expensive True which I am very glad to say I finally managed to dump last year. I use Sophon for news and that means Bloomberg, CNA and NHK. Sure I would like CNN and CNBC but not enough to sign up ever again with True or mess around with the dodgy boxes.
