  1. I see. In that case, I would tend to agree with you as you are already suffering quite severe symptoms of BPH. For Rezum, I am expecting to have to go through the procedure again in about 10 years, at which time I will probably reconsider what would be best taking into consideration surrounding factors.
  2. Could it be possible that the 3 year limitation is because the device was not proved long ago so they do not yet have evidence of efficacy after 4 years? I remember with Rezum, they started with 3 years but are now saying it is still proving effective 5 years post treatment. Perhaps in a few more years, the iTind may prove to be effective for 5 or more years.
  3. I think I mentioned before that had I been in my 70's and no longer sexually active, then perhaps I would have gone the TURP route. It all depends on what you are looking for from a personal perspective. The problem is, it seems that some doctors push one particular treatment over an other and their patients sometimes then go ahead without a clear understanding of the possible negative outcomes. At least it seems like you have sought second opinions on what treatment would be best for you and I wish you all the best. FYI my father had TURP just over 2 years ago when he was 88 years old. He told me that he wishes he had not waited so long. He had been on medicines since his late 50's and suffered a lot from side effects, including impotence from the age of 62. That is one of the reasons I went ahead with Rezum, as I tend to suffer the same side effects to medicines as my father.
  4. I take it got your driving license when they still issued them with lifetime validity.
  5. Had I been much older and not sexually active, I would perhaps have gone with TURP as the results are almost immediate, but there are still possible side effects such as ED, retrograde ejaculation and even permanent incontinence in some cases. Many sites pushing the Rezum treatment are misleading in regard to how long it takes to see the benefits of the treatment, particularly those in the US. They use wording such as "and improvement has been seen at 2 weeks post treatment". However, many of the Aussie and UK sites are more truthful saying that in most cases your condition will get worse before it gets better and you should start to see improvement at around 2 months after treatment. What you need to realize is that the results are never the same across the board and what works for some may not work for others. Also, people have a different physical responses to the treatment. I certainly did get worse and went back on meds for a couple of weeks, but now I am much better and sleeping better. I am peeing much stronger than pre-treatment even though I was taking meds then. That is, I am happy with the results of Rezum treatment. Do your research and choose which way you want to go, but don't forget that while a particular treatment may seem to be the one you want to try, you may not necessarily be a suitable candidate. For example, after checking my prostate the doctor let me know that I would not have been a suitable candidate for Urolift because of the shape of my prostate, not that I wanted that treatment anyway. As to ultimately having to have the treatment again or something different, I am aware of that. Your prostate only stops growing when it is removed from your body or you are dead. So tissue may start impinging on my urethra again down the road. I can accept that.
  6. Had it done on 21 October 2021 at Bumrungrad Hospital. I'm happy with the results and still improving. May be worth checking out this thread before you start panning something you know little about. https://aseannow.com/topic/1238152-enlarged-prostate-treatment-rezum/
  7. When I was investigating costs for Rezum treatment, private treatment in Australia was cheaper than Thailand and the UK. Singapore was absolutely ridiculous though. Luckily, I got a special discount package at Bumrungrad Hospital, and surprisingly my office insurance covered some of the costs, so I had the treatment here.
  8. Ah yes, Religious Indoctrination. Actually when I was at the nearest comprehensive, it was Religious Education and the teacher was actually a nice guy. The nasty teacher was our History guy. Threw board rubbers at people who he was not happy with. Only ever got in one fight at school and our PE teacher separated us and we walked away. No punishment. My only ever detention was because my Chemistry teacher was peeved at me repeatedly misspelling the word "separate". Sod forgot all about me so I had to traipse around school looking for him so I could get approval to go home. Found him playing table football in the 6th form common room with his teacher mates. Told me he'd forgotten about me and assumed I'd already gone home. Good job there were still buses running or it would have been a 4 mile walk home.
  9. Any one in your neck of the woods get any rain yesterday. Apparently it was cats and dogs in the afternoon in Kham Muang, Kalsin, which ain't that far from the Owl.
  10. Could it be possible that despite applying based on marriage to a Thai, the committee in Chiangmai still required that they sing the national and royal anthems and, as such, were not prepared? I agree that it does seem really strange that they would not have prepared to sing the anthems if singing them was required, such as under the PR route.
  11. I've got a story to tell on that place. When I get back from holiday I'll give the details. Don't like typing out long messages on my phone. But definitely like you, a mixed experience with the MOI near Sanam Luang.
  12. Because the power is still in the hands of a few generals, but even that is breaking down. Prayuth and Prawit are on the way out and there is a much biggger split in the military. A lack of trust between generals from different camps (Queen's Guard vs King's Guard). Hence the changes at the top by the top. As to whether the protesters ideas are backed by the majority or not, I think you would agree that traditional support on the yellow side has dropped considerably. Maybe some of their ideas go against the grain, but many of them are valid demands that should be acceptable to both sides, and are far from extreme. I personally have been surprised by the number of people who I would have sworn were traditionally yellow, who have spoken out against the current regime/system. They are not youngsters either, people in their 50's, 60s and 70s. The demographic that traditionally doesn't want to see change.
  13. I have an SH-150. They were made in Vietnam but did not sell well here because the seat was too high for the average Thai. One of the best selling scooters in Italy. When I get rid of mine and buy a new scooter, I really don't know what to go for. I want something as high as the SH-150 but there doesn't seem to be anything available on the Thai market. I just noted that the seat height of the ADV150 is quite close to the SH150.
  14. Searching on the forum is pretty useless. I always use Google. If I type Thaivisa prostate or Aseannow prostate, a number of different forum threads pop up.
  15. Had a job offer in Singapore, but flights to Thailand were much cheaper so I decided to have a holiday here first and catch the train down to Singapore. I just never got to Singapore until about 15 years ago, by which time the job offer was no more. It didn't matter really as the trip to Singapore was a business trip for my Bangkok employer. ???? My job title includes the word "manager", but it is not really a managerial position. I was just given the title as a way of saying thank you for such long service, and to justify a decent pay increase. I am a jack of all trades in my department which involves intellectual property. As to staying on, it is not up to me. I hit 60 in December and the office policy is retirement at 60, except in special cases if they want to keep you on. In which case it would be on annual contracts. But I really have had enough. I have had some good times but the past 4 or 5 years have worn me out.
  16. Having read the full thread, I feel that I haven't done anything really exciting or worthwhile with my life. Came to Thailand when I was 19, nearly 40 years ago, and been here since then. At the end of this year I will retire, having been an employee of the same company for 30 years. Not sad to be retiring either as I've had enuff. Just hope my savings last until I die, with some left over for my wife and son.
  17. He was wearing a Robinhood jacket which he borrowed from a mate and was delivering food using his mate's ID/account. His mate has since lost his job with Robinhood. I don't think he's the most popular guy in town at the moment.
  18. No. I left the UK when I was 19. My mum paid a few years apparently, at least that is what I was told, but when I last checked I would have had to pay so much it really was not worth my while. Apart from the paltry Thai pension, I'll be living off savings starting in January 2023.
  19. Not me. But I'd still be covered if I returned to the UK. Not on my to-do list though.
  20. I will get both my social security pension and the Baht 500 a month when I hit 60. As Arkady has mentioned, they have spoken about increasing the age for this benefit but it is a no go at the moment. They are also considering increasing the amount, but with the aging population, there are serious concerns about funding.
  21. There have been discussions about increasing the retirement age from 55 to 60, but this seems to have been put on hold for the time being. This is through concerns that the fund will run out of money due to poor management. There are also discussions on increasing the amount of contribution, but like many things here it could be quite a few years before we see these changes.
  22. My seniority remained unchanged. It was simply a matter of updating the record, not the creation of a new one.
