In the case of Thailand, many girls are forced into the job, not particularly by anobody, but by the conditions. It’s either prostitution or poverty and living in the streets.

There may be a small element of that but IME it's prostitution or a dead-end job working in a factory/farm. Granted, not a great choice I suppose but shagging a farang for an hour at 1000 a pop means she's earning considerably more than minimum wage.

They want a piece of Pie that Thai hospitals are enjoying from forced incarceration of tourists allegedly found positive!

I don't think so, I think that common sense prevails. If you have a runny nose or no symptoms at all despite testing positive then stay in your hotel until you test negative.

Look at how many unconcerned people it takes to inspect a Zebra crossing ! And none of them know the answer as to what to do so they want to get rid of it !! Pathetic.

Yep although the solution is quite simple. Install a huge sleeping policeman (speed hump) and speed cameras which fine you 2,000 baht for going over the speed limit. I think you'll find that will incentivise people to slow down. It does here anyhow!!

corruption is difficult to qualify, so its perception is measured instead. if your standard is actual court convictions of corruption, then you are relying on that country's judicial system to NOT be corrupt! as we know, judges in corrupt countries are relatively corrupted, so the courts with the least corruption convictions mean very little in a comparison.

as the saying goes, where there's smoke there's fire, but the fire isn't always seen so the smoke is measured instead.

So what I said was right...

    Not quite. From the article

    “including:

    • Effectiveness of suppression of corruption and law enforcement against offenders.
    • Transparency and accountability in public sector spending.
    • Corruption in the executive, legislative and judicial branches.
    • The involvement of business operations in corruption.
    • The use of political power in corruption, patronage.
    • Bribery involved in the various processes of doing business.”

perception is based on peoples view of reality. And it’s Thailands reality that has perceived to have dropped in relation to other countries. It’s not just opinions that are used, it’s reality and comparative opinions of that reality.

Whichever way you look at it, the report is still about perceived corruption rather than comparing instances of actual corruption in each country which incidentally  would be a much more interesting report.

It looks  lije there is far more Omicron infections in Thailand than reported  as it is so infectous nearly everyone will be infected from local transmissions thus restrictions on incoming foreigners no longer necessary if they have negative  PCR within 72 hours before entering Thailand.

Absolutely. How many construction workers for example have mild Covid symptoms but still go to work and how many of those don't report that they have Covid for fear of being told to stay at home for 5+ days with no pay.

Yawn....   Its difficult not to ‘bash’ and some will certainly (and accurately) point out the 'Thai bash here’ but when there is a car incident ( I refuse to use the world accident ) is there any Thai capable of holding up their hands and stating ‘I was at fault’ ???

    Thats not just Thailand

We're taught in the UK to never admit liability for a car accident until we've spoken to our insurers.

Sure. The Netherlands and Portugal are right up there with China in shaping world events. And of course their expansionist adventurism is well known.

First thing I do every morning is look for news of the latest atrocities committed by the Spanish.

    Nice try, but no cigar.

There is a thing called history ????

China is doing nothing that other countries have done over the past 500 years...
