If you loose your bank book you need to go to the police station to report it lost. With the confirmation letter from the police the bank can issue a replacement bank book with all past transactions.
Are you sure about "All past transactions?" The last time I went into a branch to have my bank book updated they could only print the past 90 days of activity, and said there wasn't any way to print prior transactions. They said I could order bank statements going back further - but i'd have to request that in person at the branch where I opened the account.

Yes.
I did my renewal last month and was handed an appointment slip for 19th August.
Same for me.
When I asked for a receipt or stamp after completing the proof appointment she said it was in their computer but they don't provide a receipt or stamp. She said "Don't worry if there is any problem we can confirm again from your bank book".
I believe the appointment to confirm helps keep things very clear - but it is not a legal requirement as long as you can later prove that the financial requirement (800k balance) has been met. What if I lost my bank book...? er no idea.

We have all see the metal shacks slums they call "construction worker dormitories". Being locked in one of those camps would be horrific and these are foreign workers that are not well taken care of in Thailand to begin with. We complain about crappy ASQ - can you imagine being locked in a metal shed for a few weeks? It would be great if Red Cross or some other international agency is keeping an eye on their welfare...but I doubt that will happen ????

Sterilisation will not take them away from the streets. They still pose a danger to people. And even if such a dog is vaccinated against rabies you will have to go for a treatment because you can't be sure if the dog was vaccinated.
Ya, but shelters are full and euthanizing isn't going to happen on a mass scale in Thailand, so what other solution is there besides a long term approach of sterilization to reduce the population over time? Check the statistics - sterilization programs work.
Thailand's street dogs are MUCH nicer than street dogs a lot of countries where people are less kind. I'm not aware of a huge danger from street dogs in Thailand. All of the horrific mauling's of children and adults I've read about here were pet animals of breeds intentionally bred for aggression.

The real problem are all these people that feed them: Idiots compassion.
You got to be kidding right? Do you really advocate starving the animals to death as a rational solution? That would only result in hungry and aggressive packs of animals struggling to survive. In a society where euthanizing animals is just not going to happen sterilization is the only logical solution. Please consider supporting one of the sterilization programs trying to solve the Soi Dog Problem.

Never mind about Pattaya. What about out in the sticks where the situation has to be worse?
I'm not sure the problem is greater out in the sticks, but here's some info on sterilization programs. The Pattaya Project is part of a national program of the Soi Dog Foundation. https://www.soidog.org/ The run programs in many areas of Thailand. Also there are reginal and local efforts by a number of other groups. Sterilization is the only reasonable approach to the problem. Give Google a shot to find resources near you.

The Pattaya Soi Dog Sterilization Project has sterilized 7,000 street dogs in the last 3 years. The sterilization is privately funded by the Soi Dog Foundation, but requires the help of neighborhood people to identify, capture and transport the animals. Darting and transporting the animals costs 500/baht per dog and done by the people at animalarmy.org. Anyone currently feeding Soi Dogs knows the local dogs the best and you can be very helpful in identifying animals to be spayed. Everyone else - please consider making a donation to help get more animals sterilized. PM me for more info ????

Only in an elevator - because everywhere else I can just walk away. I'll ask politely to please put their mask - with my foot holding the elevator door open until they do.
There's been some discussion about it, but in the end wearing a mask in an elevator is common decency, it's currently the law in Thailand, and I've got unusually big feet ????

The French are inoculating their citizens worldwide, including Thailand. This puts to rest the "impossible logistics" argument and the argument that Thailand wouldn't permit it because of "bad optics". Thailand's decision to allow embassies to contract out the vaccinations to local hospitals paved the way for any embassy to coordinate same.
Thailand is roughly 1% of the world population. If Thailand received 1% of the 80 million doses the USA will distribute in the next 8 days that would be 800k doses. There are only 30-40k Americans in Thailand - only part of those are seniors. It just wouldn't be a big deal to get this done for American citizens.

Ouch. Lockdown in one of those metal shack construction worker's camps would be brutal...especially when they are full of sick people. These are mostly non-Thai workers from Myanmar, Lao, and Cambodia that don't get treated so great to begin with. I hope there is some humanitarian aid from the government to go with these lockdown orders.

Don't count on the US embassy for anything. I'v learn that the hard way several times in the past 10 years.
Unfair. Anytime you need a signature notarized for $US 50 bucks they are there for you...oh except now...
America loves to posture as the global hero - hence the 500 million dose giveaway to coincide with Biden's first global engagement. The covid scene is unprecedented in our lifetimes. Just sayin it would be a great time for America to step up and be a hero to it's citizens abroad.

Reports that France and Belgium also trying to do the same.
Thailand’s public health minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, told the press that he had met with the French Ambassador to Thailand and that the embassy was discussing the process of importing 10,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for French nationals aged 45+ in Thailand.
Anutin said that the department of Disease Control agrees to the basic principle and that the vaccines could arrive by at the end of June. He added that any country which is able to take care of its citizens can import vaccines which are registered with Thailand’s FDA to inoculate their nationals.
Anutin said an inoculation provision by an embassy can be undertaken at any medical facility and does not need to be on embassy grounds.

My schooling taught me the constitution of the USA said I was entitled to 'LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS" I don't recall any amendment to it saying that the USA had to provide anyone with Covid vaccines let alone expatriates flung across the reaches of the globe.
If you want your "free" vaccine, there are flights leaving each day back to the mainland or to Guam. The fact that obtaining that vaccine is costly and inconvenient was caused by your decision to reside in Thailand. The idea that somehow the USA government should move heaven and earth to accommodate you is symptomatic of this culture of I am "entitled"Nothing to do with "entitled" or "free". Access to the vaccine for farangs - at any price - is currently a clown show in Thailand. There's no reason Americans should not have access to some of the 500 million vaccines the USA decided to give away as a publicity stunt for Biden's first trip abroad. I still pay USA taxes - I've already paid for those.
I - like you - expected nothing from the US government, until they decided to give away hundreds of millions of doses and announced that they have the infrastructure capacity to deliver 80 million doses by the end of June.

I'm a 60+ year old American citizen living in Thailand and paying taxes back in the USA. With the USA pledging to give away 80 million doses of Pfizer vaccine globally by the end of June - where's mine??!! The Chinese consulate in BKK is vaccinating Chinese citizens living here. Shame on the USA that it is not taking equal care of its citizens abroad. If vaccinations can be done in a Costco parking lot, the US Embassy can find a way to offer vaccines to US citizens here!

Agree - draconian and a completely confusing system of penalties. "Shoot on sight" would be much simpler and mask compliance would be near 100%.

Same here but website says: 'Available group: People aged 60 + years old, people living with any underlying diseases following.....so 60+ without diseases should qualify.'
Maybe they ran out of dates in the foreseeable future in a few minutes? Anyway to put it politely somehow I had not expected it to go smoothly.
Not expected it to go smoothly? The 90 day report site has been down for more than a year. Obviously, the entire national IT team has been diverted to work on this Covid registration site. Should be state of the art no?

There have been a lot of criminal and civil actions against people who cause tarnish to Thailand's reputation and marketability as a safe tourist resort. "Truth" is not a defense for criminal defamation laws in Thailand. The OP may want to be very careful about publishing the results of this survey.

Wow, what a windfall the pandemic will generate for CP. A lot of franchise owners couldn't survive the pandemic, and CP will certainly grab the best of those neighborhood markets. CP has all the sales data from former franchise owners. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. Great for a mega corporation but sucks for entrepreneurs of every size.

Soi Dog Sterilization Project Pattaya. The doctors and clinics are sponsored by the Soi Dog Foundation.
People in neighborhoods are needed to help identify and capture dogs for sterilization.
The dogs are spayed or neutered, given an rabies injection and a bit of care and returned overnight. Send me a PM and I'd be happy to tell you more about how it works.

Thais are not getting vaccinated at much of a pace either, so there really isn't much for farangs to complain about at this moment. It's not a plot to discriminate against farangs - it's just chaotic all around. Vaccine distribution will shake out as more vaccine doses are landed in Thailand. Covid prevention and vaccination hasn't gone smoothly anywhere so little surprise things are far from perfect here.
I'm grateful that Thai society did a lot better at controlling the spread than a lot of other places. Most farangs I know are happier to have weathered the pandemic here than at home. I think our best strategy is to stay as safe as we can and be patient for the situation to shake out.
