  1. Where can one get free hard copies of this magazine? I have not see a hard copy here for at least a year!
  2. I went to the BluPort office at 1216 (accoding to the queing ticket I received) on Friday 17th, February, and there were only about 8 people waiting, and several more being processed. I needed to do a 90-day report. At about 1225 I was walking out of BluPort, report completed. No complaints from me.
  3. Does not the BluPort office open at 11.00 am?
  4. Thank you Sheryl. I have already consulted with 2 overseas-qualified (USA) endocrinologists, who basically told me the same diagnosis and prognosis. I have neither had surgery for this conditon, nor diagnosed with thyriod cancer. However, I have read about a few people who have had long-term side-effects from treatment (possibly due to high dosage treatment); but a dear friend, now in her 80s, decided to continue using Methimazole, in a lower dosage than advised since her early 60s, and to forgo the radiation treatment, and she is still stong and healthy at this time. Thus, I wanted to seek the experiences of others before I make a decision. Again, many sincere thanks for your advice.
  5. About 20 years ago I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid gland, hypothyroidism, for which a medication was prescribed, and all was well, until ... 7 years ago my thyriod function tests started changing, and I moved between an underactive and overactive thyroid, hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. After 3 years the thyriod stabilsed, and I have been taking medication. Methimazole, for the past 4 years. My doctor now advises me that due to possible damage from the long-term use of this medication to my liver, I need to stop taking the medication, and undergo a procedure called iodine ablation or I-131 thyroid ablation. I understand the procedure and have read about it on various medical sites. My question - have any members undergone this procedure and what were the results, especially adverse long-term impacts. Many thanks in advance.
  6. Happened already. Just over 9 years ago I was travelling on the green song thaew from Khao Ta Kiab towards the city. About 100-150 metres before Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin some idiot crashed into the back of the song thaew, injuring an elderly couple standing on the back platform close to where I was standing (the elderly man was bleeding from a cut to his mouth) (no major damage to the song thaew). Pressed the "stop" button, the useless driver just kept on driving and stopped at Maraket Village, where the angry driver exited the cabin, to be confronted with some upset passangers and now two elderly bleeding people.
  7. Corruption and fakness = essential elements of Thainess.
  8. Great generals lead by example, not words.
  9. Depending on the size of the pool, may I suggest a strong dose of chlorine.
  10. I suppose it depends on where you are. I moved into a gated community just after COVID hit. It had been about 2.5 years of peace, quiet and security. But over the last 6 months, I come to realise that many, if not most, of the properties in the estate are for rent, short-term or long-term, and thus now there is a steady stream of noisy tourists, mostly farangs, some here for a few weeks, others a few months. Peace and tranquility has gone. Plan ahead, carefully.
  11. Fake Fraud False Faulty (as in "Fawlty Towers") Facile
  12. The suspected gunman, Tran Huu Can, appears to be Vietnamese (or he could have been Chinese-Vietnamese). Two victims' names were released this morning - one had a Vietnamese name the other a Chinese name. In my experience, some Chinese-Vietnamese have reverted to Chinese names in the West. We shall probably get more detsials in the coming days.
  13. Agreed, it is not only condos by also villa estates, with Russians being the dominant group. Mostly young families and groups of young single people, taking out 2-3 month renewable leases, according to a couple of real estate agents.
  14. He is probably afraid to live anywhere else except on an Thai Army base where he feels safe from his many "enemies".
  15. In other words, junta leader General Prayut has ordered Thailand’s Election Commission to find reasons to abolish any political parties which are a threat to his re-election.
  16. LOL. Maybe the Thai authorities will stop checking for COVID. Thus, no problem.
  17. What about protecting the Thai people against the Chinese gangs?
  18. Maybe Public Health Minister Anutin wants more money for his Ministry, and thus allowing in potentially COVID-infected Chinese will help.
  19. Will the Ministers be wearing masks and active social distancing.?
  20. I noticed the same in Hua Hin recently.
  21. Never heard of them, ie Sam Smith.
  22. A similar "invasion" in Hua Hin. A farang friend recently noted that Russian is now the second most spoken language in Hua Hin, having displaced Esarn from second place.
  23. Reading the different reports from Chinese medical facilities/professionals on social media (before the posts were deleated by the Chinese censors) one gets the feeling that COVID had spread across China at an alarming rate. With just over half the Chinese population having received 2 China-made COVID vaccines, and a low percentage of the elderly having any vaccine, it is no wonder the elderly are the main victims now. As some Western medical scientists have noted, the chances of new COVID mutations appearing in China is high. The chances of mass Chinese international tourism within the next few months are probably low, unless foreign carriers are permitted to enter and leave China and insane (?) countries allow Chinese carriers to bring Chinese tourists to their shores. As many countries seem to have COVID "under control" domestically, do these countries want a new mega waves of COVID to further damage their economies and push thier health care systems past breaking point?
  24. Try a Google search on "Ingleburn shooting 2016", which may answer some of your questions.
