  1. What about protecting the elephants from villagers?
  2. Sadly not always the case. There is a block, about 25 rai in area, behind where I live which was filled up to a depth of about 2.5-3 metres in places over a 6 month period. No compacting!!! Construction of the first house started about 3-4 months after filling completed.
  3. Sadly, not uncommon. Heard many similar stories and see many buildings in need of urgent repairs at small government health centres and hospitals over the years. But, alas, the military gets all its wants (almost), illegals continue to flood into Thailand, and graft and corruption reign supreme in the government bureaucracy.
  4. Will Thailand be following shortly?
  5. I cannot give you an accurate answer, but maybe this may help a little. About 8 years ago I "helped" my now ex-gf buy 2 rai of flat land just outside of Pran Buri, Prachuap Khiri Khan. About one-quarter of the land area consisted of a very large pond that was about 5 metres deep. My ex obtained some quotations on filling in the pond - for memory the quotations were in the range of Baht 300,000 - 400,000, which seemed rather expensive to me. I hope someone can give you a more reliable estimate.
  6. Just shows how dependent Thailand is on foreign workers (doing the work that Thais refuse to do).
  7. This is scary. One would have to hope that a competent doctor would do a careful examination to determine if a person is actually dead before being put into pre post-mortem cold storage.
  8. The best public health education programmes are not going to work if people refuse to listen and learn (because they think it will never happen to them; that they are invincible). The best public health education programmes are not going to work if people believe that there is not problem, that it is a fake information conspiracy. In an age of Robert Kennedy Jrs and anti-vaxxers, diseases like HIV (and mumps) will continue to spread (just look at the "great" USA).
  9. I believe that the Thai Red Cross is the main source of these medications, but my knowledge could be out-of-date.
  10. First requirement - competent IT people with appropriate, yes appropriate, training and skills. Second requirement - competent IT people with appropriate, yes appropriate, training and skills. Third requirement - competent IT people with appropriate, yes appropriate, training and skills. Thailand does not have many of these people, because Thailand does not train enough people.
  11. Thai military reform? It has to start at the top of the military. Many young Thais I know in the military are hoping for major reforms; others have given up waiting and have left the Thai military.
  12. This should happen in Thailand.
  13. Thailand - technology hub?
  14. My Thai diary says both days are Government holidays, and the 10th is a Bank holiday.
  15. My guess is that it will leave orange stains on skin and clothes.
  16. As long as the super rich continue to get rich the system will not change. A few technological changes and innovations here are there maybe, but otherwise the olde corruption and patronage systems will stay in place to the benefit of the 0.1% and the detriment of the country and most Thai citizens. Why are the "big" boys and girls pushing AI? Less need for workers!!!
  17. Again? Did Big Pharma ever stop pushing dangerous meds? Do you know the potential drug or food interactions of all the meds you are taking? Do you know the potential side-effects of the meds you are taking? Do your doctors inform you of these side-effects?
  18. Looks good .... one hopes the Baht follows soon.
  19. "Joe Ferrari" knew "too much" he was a danger to powerful people, and thus the threat had to be neutralised.
  20. Time for another coup - the party of the Thai people is more popular than the corrupt establishment.
  21. Prime Minister Paetongtarn now becomes minister of Thainess.
  22. As is often the case, Trump does not understand what he is saying, ie he uses words he does not understand the meaning of. The recent Australian election was interesting - 6 months before the election, the conservatives looked like they would easily regain government. This did not change after Trump was re-elected. But, after he was sworn in and the leader of the Australian conservatives proposed to follow Trump, .... the conservatives popularity rapidly declined. End result a massive victory for the progressives. Which sane democracy wants to elect their version of Trump?
