In browser or any phone, logged in or not, you have "advertising ID". You can usually reset it in the settings to clear history. But it doesn't care if you're logged in or not. It's using your phone or browser ID to track you.

Social media apps are known to rip information out of your conversations and sell the keywords. Tested it a few times, by talking irrelevant stuff and behold, within hours, ads for the same stuff showed up on websites, YouTube, etc. It is not part of Android, though. As there was no such effect when using a blank phone with no apps installed.

Taiwan seeking answers over hit and run death in Bangkok

Unnamed hospital on Pattanakarn road... well, excluding veterinary clinics, there's a gross total of 1. And you can see a big sign with its name on if you stand on Airport link platform at Huamark... Some secret! -
Get on the plane to UK, get a new passport there, hopefully before your current visa expires, return with both passports, new and old, present old one for visa, then before expiry date go and extend visa and transfer it to new passport. You'll need to have enough time and possibility to get new passport there on time, and enough space in current passport to have exit stamp from Thailand. If that's not workable, you'll need to start applying from scratch with new passport. Your current passport is useless if it has no pages left.

OK, now I get it. If you already have Windows, you can wipe it down to clean slate by choosing to reset Windows - that wipes all files and settings and keeps only OS. But that would be existing OS you have installed. If you want to change version of OS, unless you wish to manipulate kernel with some PowerShell commands that were probably mentioned earlier, the "correct" way is to insert the USB stick with your Windows 10 Pro installer, reboot PC and boot from USB stick. There, choose NEW install. Choose disk and format it (or delete and recreate partitions), then you can choose whichever version you have software license for. But you can NOT run the installer from inside already loaded Windows and choose a different version.

I think there's an option in the media creation tool to select that you're making image for another computer, then allows you to choose whatever version you need... At least it used to work that way, admittedly I haven't downloaded Win10 in 2 years...
-
In that case you don't need to buy anything. As suggested earlier, download the image with media creation tool, and have a blank USB key ready. Install on kid's laptop from that key and apply your previous license key. If this is the same laptop, it should work straight. If it was OEM license and you changed laptop, then it may allow you to use key, it may ask you to contact Microsoft for activation. But basically - if it's same computer, and genuine key is loaded, and you need to reinstall, you don't need a key as computer would already have a digital license applied, so it would apply the previous key without even asking.

Help with Work Permit procedure
tomazbodner replied to The Cobra's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's why I wrote that things may have changed, but above is what I've done last time I changed job before getting permanent residence, and it was doable. But things may have changed since. And waiting for someone with more recent experience. So thanks Buddha you came along to help. -
Help with Work Permit procedure
tomazbodner replied to The Cobra's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can't move work permit from one company to another. But you can start applying for one before the previous one is returned. The resignation date can be in the future, and you could (at least in the past) move from one work permit to another without the need to leave the country, you would just need to start preparing new work permit early enough that you can just go back with cancellation form (you need to print 2 copies, one labour department keeps, the other is for you) as you'll need it to apply for new WP. You'd get 30 days WP if all paperwork is in order, and after that it gets extended to full year. At least it used to be doable. But it's new work permit, can't move the old one to new company. In between, once old one is cancelled you'd need to get 7 days extension on the day of resignation (your visa extension - unless you have 90 day multiple entry visa - expires on date of resignation) and ideally within that period get new work permit, and extend visa for a year again from there. Hope this helps, while waiting for someone who did it more recently. -

Yes, save your money. Good advice, for even better one, save even more by buying this accurate temperature measurement device:
-
The point of measuring equipment is that it's accurate. If you buy something cheap that shows figures +/- 30%, it's no point buying it. Stick to Omron.

Substandard air quality in Bangkok and 23 provinces today
tomazbodner replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
About 4 am was the worst. Air cleaner in bedroom started sounding like plane taking off, and looking out the window it was just smog... couldn't see any lights beyond maybe 50-100m. I see clean air act is having an immediate effect... -
Mine is valid another 3 years, so I haven't seen that sticker. But yes, when Citi got new CEO, her first announcement was to close down or sell most of their business. For Thailand, Citibank's operations were purchased by UOB which is using Citi's brand under license for 5 years, if I am not mistaken. All operations are already moved over to UOB, though, so if you call Citi phone support, it's covered by UOB agents. I must say that compared to HSBC/Krungsri version of the same thing some years back, this transition is a lot smoother. So far, anyway.

So this is to fill in that gap of exactly these people being excluded from the 10k baht handout... Quite clever marketing. In the end this one might stay and the other one get scrapped for breaching financial discipline... -

A while back I dealt with a guy who worked for a company that was dealing with the cash top-up machines. I was inquiring about why the new notes were not accepted, even they were out for a year already. His answer was that they could not take a risk to add them by themselves to the registry of notes in the machines, as if anything went wrong, they would be liable for the damages. So they were waiting for the software update from Bank of Thailand, as if they used official software, and anything went wrong, then the central bank would be responsible, not them. It seems whoever made those top-up machines did not have the wit of a professional company, and should, in my opinion, cover all the losses those "hosting" these machines suffer from, due to lack of diligence of the machine producer or distributor.
