  1. Was just thinking... Stop ridiculing North Koreans for believing their leader is God. At least there's evidence of Kim Jong Un. Fetching my coat... as if I needed one in Thailand...
  2. In my case, local police station doesn't have someone dealing with foreigners in all the time so I got her phone number and I could make appointment first, but if your police station is used to dealing with foreigners, they'll probably have someone on site all the time and no need to make appointment up-front. You'll need to bring your usual set - blue tabien baan, blue or white PR booklet and obviously the red alien registration to update. If you have it, bring pink ID as well. I brought passport, too, but it wasn't checked at all. It could differ at your police station. Police officer will write a new expiry date, you'll have a choice of 1 or 5 years, charge you that few hundred baht and hand-write update into the red book. Photocopies of your documents will also be made and you'll sign each of them. There is no form to fill. The whole process takes 15 minutes. If this is the first time you're doing it, go to information counter and show them what you wish to do. They'll let you know if you can do it immediately or need to wait for appropriate person to be in, which would mean later appointment. Hope this helps.
  3. So 500 billion loan for 400 billion scheme which is so limited most can't buy anything with it. PM Sretthas government begins to flounder - Thai Examiner
  4. Not sure where you are, but if in Bangkok, I'd recommend Amarin Plaza Apple repair center, or Apple Store at Central World. Not terribly likely they would fix it there, most of their stuff was (at least used to) be sent to Singapore, but that might have changed by now. Amarin would often call you back a few days later and just give you a new one, if the old one was of perfect external shape (no dents, cracks, scratches, etc). I've only had battery replaced at Apple Store, and that was 3 hours wait to get it finished. In case of repair, all data will be gone, as wiping it would be part of the repair process, or if new one, obviously it won't have old data. If you're anywhere else, I've no idea. Apologies.
  5. Yes, when buying a used car, you can google plate numbers for those cars that have never been in an accident, and if anything like this comes up, avoid them like plague. Seen some that looked amazing, claimed the same, but a search of plate number found a woman paralysed after a head-on collision with a pickup overtaking a truck and slamming into her. Photos showed that car was completely smashed up in the front but somehow "fixed" to look like new to the point guy who does inspections couldn't find anything wrong with it... And anyway it's the information original articles publish, AN simply copies first few paragraphs, usually.
  6. Sad for the involved, but it could not have happened in a better place - right in front of hospital.
  7. I haven't been to Pattaya in a long while, but stayed there last weekend. And there's something I need to ask. There are a few chain restaurants at beach facing end of Royal Garden Plaza... and when looking at their menu prices, they are exactly 2x the price of identical restaurant prices in Bangkok. Quality of food was good, service actually better than Bangkok so I am not complaining. But... Is that only this particular mall that doubled prices or is this Pattaya standard?
  8. Not necessarily about money. They could have simply checked him before he reached immigration point to give heftier fines. Sadao border crossing with Malaysia used to do that back in the day. They put up a police checkpoint just before border crossing and check everyone's documents. Anyone found on overstay would be arrested there. Maybe that idea is back.
  9. They are HE machines and require detergent for HE machines, else they bubble too much and leave residue behind. My first such machine was over 15 years ago and I ruined it by using wrong detergent. It was forced on washing machine manufacturers by the EU directive, if I remember correctly. Most new front-loaders are HE models now.
  10. Father pardoned, daughter PM, uncle back to building condos...
  11. In that case I could only suspect that the type of boot UEFI/Legacy might be an issue and changing to the other one might be worth to try...
  12. In BIOS, change boot type from Windows UEFI to "other OS".
  13. Possibly bribe to allow truck to be heavier than legally allowed could be considered driver's fault. Below is screenshot of Thai discussion on it... This is Thai discussion over it...
  14. That's exactly why they should bring him... tied up... and turn away.
  15. And he's still driving other 13 year old girls around, it seems...
  16. Still a big enough market for these loud birds flying past my home at least 10x every day...
  17. When I was sitting in Phyathai 1 hospital, waiting for doctor, there was a poster in front of me about some steam treatment that deals with this... looked like a tiny metal pipe inserted that delivered steam to the muscle/prostate, which then made it smaller and stopped the problem. At least that's what the poster promised. That's quite a lot less invasive than cutting the thing out. Why not check it out?
  18. In our condo they called the cops to remove illegal airbnb tenants who weren't reported to juristic office for obvious reasons, but were making noise whole night and their neighbours complained. They were booked for trespassing and after police took them away, I haven't seen them again. So there must be a way to use trespassing laws.
  19. There's a word gone missing. Should be "Get married, they said. You will be happy for the rest of your single life!"
  20. And all of that achieved nothing. Shin family still running the country...
