Outstanding questions remain about new visa rules for Thailand

Just checked Royal Gazette - lots of entries dated today, even covering the management of waste and welfare of dogs, but nothing about any tourist entry rules... -
Outstanding questions remain about new visa rules for Thailand
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So far there is nothing in Royal Gazette on this, and other media outlets say that Anutin approved and sent to Sreetha for signature, which apparently already happened. But nothing can be a law until it's published in Royal Gazette, I believe. https://ratchakitcha.soc.go.th/ Follow this page to see when it pops up. -

Thai Man Arrested Over Alleged Rape of Ukrainian Woman on Koh Samui
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
That's a change. Mostly we hear about foreigners getting on locals' nerves as foreigners think they can do whatever they want... And that seems to be confirmed in the news, like the 2 Kiwis who wrestled a cop, stole his gun and set it off... and they are out of jail and back to Kiwiland after 4 months... -
Trump rushed off stage after possible assassination attempt
tomazbodner replied to DPat's topic in World News
Well, game over, Joe. This is just going to get MAGA masses to the polls which no Democratic candidate can overturn. Trump will be POTUS come next year, unless someone else aims better or he expires from clogged arteries. -

Bangkok launches major drug prevention initiative with urine tests
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Wonder how they would enforce this on foreigners? Pee test at visa extension? Actually that's not a bad idea... They could provide a free medical check at that time as well! Just finance it from that 300 baht landing tax or whatever they call it... -
There is DVD ripping software which can convert a DVD into a video file, probably MPEG4 would be best. Many of them are free. I use Handbrake (not for DVD ripping but format conversion), which seems to have also been voted best free DVD ripping software for Mac: https://www.techradar.com/news/the-best-free-dvd-ripper It has profiles of target device, but it also allows you to tweak format, in case file is too big to fit. It doesn't support original DVDs (like original movies bought in store) as those are copy protected and this software doesn't include DRM decryption but as your DVDs are home-made, they would not be protected anyway. You can get it from https://handbrake.fr/ There's then a player for those, for which I use VLC Media Player, which again is a free tool from http://www.videolan.org/ This tool actually can read DVD files directly from the disc and also has conversion options inside to convert them to another format, different size, as well as post-process it for better image quality or reduced size, where it can then save video to another format. I prefer VLC as player, but both Handbrake and VLC can make file that plays on QuickTime player as well, if you choose so, or make video optimized for your mobile device. You'll need an external DVD drive, and pretty much any USB drive would do, but if you want it fancy, you could find an Apple SuperDrive which is built for Mac. There are plenty of them available second hand, not sure if new ones are still being sold. Example: https://www.kaidee.com/en/product-369215957

99-Year Land Lease To Foreigners Will Harm Thailand: Jatuporn
tomazbodner replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They would need to be renewed at the end of 30 years or anytime before that to 99 years, if both parties agreed, but it won't convert a 30 year lease into 99 year lease. -

Thai Mobile Users' Final Date to Verify SIM Cards
tomazbodner replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Not true. The card doesn't immediately get wiped when it expires. It stays available for top-up for quite some time after that, in my case my Travel SIMs (both AIS and True) remained valid and available for top-up (buying another roaming package) for more than a year... I have "reused" same SIM 1 year and 2 months later by simply inserting it into the phone and adding a package to it. There was no need to re-register anything, it was already in my name. -

As said - you need to download mobile app, then login to it. App is in Thai so if you need it in English, you will need to go to account, last icon at the bottom, and you'll notice a settings icon top right. tap on it, and you'll see Thai flag - that's country - leave it on Thailand. Just below the flag you have language - tap on that and choose English. Now that you're done, try to login with your phone number or email and password... You'll get a screen that your account is frozen with a button - Follow steps to fix. Tap on that. It'll give you option to send email out or SMS. I chose SMS (but I wish I did email as link worked on computer immediately but not on phone) and you're given 5 min to click on that link. There's just a standard information on which device is requesting access, and Approve (left) button. Once you approve it, screen on the app will change back to home page without being logged in. Now try to login again. Once that's successful, login back on your PC.

Lazada : " Your account has been closed"
tomazbodner replied to homeseeker's topic in General Topics
Worked for me as well. Though after seeing permissions demanded by the app - it's getting deleted immediately. -
So I just got my account reopened. To do that I had to install Lazada app on the phone and login to it. That told me account was frozen. I followed steps (which included sending out a confirmation SMS with link to click on) and there click on approve (it's in Thai, click the left one). Once that was done, I was asked to confirm with fingerprint scan on the phone, before I was allowed to login again. Lazada support could have mentioned that you must use phone app for identity verification. But now the other thing - read the app permissions before you download it. Read my entire photo and video library, listen to my microphone, get entire call and message history, read messages inside all other apps, ... Immediately revoked all its permissions, and I think I'll be deleting it as well. The steps were listed by @bamnutsak in the other thread referenced above. 🙏

The reasons were all BS.
-
Same. Called them. They told me that it was closed for many reasons, like I cancelled many orders, demanded many refunds, etc. etc. Wouldn't elaborate and the excuse was all BS anyway as none of that actually happened except one where I was sold a fake and sent it back together with evidence. They closed it just in time for me to be unable to complain about the broken product a Chinese seller sent me, as I can't login to actually do anything about it. Not terribly much but about 7500 baht, which is unfortunate. The lady on the phone with Filipino accent has promised me that she would check what's wrong and try to reopen it within 72 hours, and send me information about it to my registered email address. So far - nothing, 4 days later. I thought it could be someone breaking into it, but I can't see any orders made in email box, nor any charges on the card, nor any OTP requests, so it's not that. And I only used their website, not their mobile app. Interesting to see I'm not the only one.
