  1. You might be surprised how many mothers kill their children. Like the mother who drove her three kids to a lake, and made the car go into and sink the lake and drowned them. I can’t imagine the thoughts in the children’s minds when they realized what what happening to them……done to then by their own mother. Or mothers who drown their kids in the bathtub. Drowning seems to be a favourite with for women to get rid of children. And then there’ Casey Anthony…. Simply horrifying and evil.
  2. I might be wrong, but I bet a lot less would drown if they knew how to swim. You don’t need professional swimming classes. Anyone who knows how to swim can teach a kid to swim. Just like anyone who knows how to read can teach reading. (I taught my own three children to read fluently before they started grade 1 using a $30 book on phonics) I would have taught them how to swim myself, but we had a YMCA just a bit of a drive away. They learned how to swim shortly after beginning to walk. They even had “water babies” classes before that.. to learn to relax in 10 foot deep water and roll over on their back and float. A life saving skill for babies. Parents could teach their kids to swim in any shallow slow moving little river or creek. You do not need a swimming pool. When I became a parent….to me the most important responsibilities was, make sure they learn to swim, make sure they learn to read, make sure they learn to safely cross the street, make sure they say “No” and run from strangers, make sure they respect the police, make sure they learn to floss and brush and care for their teeth. And get them regular health checkups.
  3. People who don’t want to make sure their children become excellent swimmers when they begin to walk, shouldn’t be having kids. ESPECIALLY if they live near water. It only takes two or three minutes for tragedy to happen in water to a child who does not know drown-proofing or how to swim. Or ANYONE who doesn’t know drown-proofing or know how to swim. There is not much sadder than pulling the limp, lifeless, not breathing body of a little boy or girl out of the water, And then the family has to make funeral arrangements.
  4. I also don’t know who Mark Gorda was. Who was he? Was he on here? Sorry about his passing in any case. Namo Buddhaya ???????? ☸️
  5. I guess I’m not a sheep. I’ve always had a bit of a rebel streak in me. I get some flack for not going along with the crowd and for not being submissive. Oh well.. too bad.
  6. If he is not a Thai citizen with voting rights, he should keep his nose out of Thai politics. No business getting into it. He should keep it to himself or go back to Germany. HOWEVER….if he has obtained Thai citizenship, pays Thai taxes, and votes in Thai elections… then okay… he has the right to complain.
  7. Are you saying that people who ride their bikes through a puddle are riding irresponsibly? Really? You don’t think electric bikes should be able to safely go through a puddle like a regular bike without bursting into flames or worse? Hmmm. Interesting. Yeah …blame the rider. I get it. Well.. I think people forget where all the things come from that make the batteries. Like the cobalt and other metals. How much of that material comes from mines in Africa or parts of Asia using child labor? Or paying adult workers dirt wages? And then they go plug it it to charge it, the electricity is comig from…..Where exactly?
  8. The place in Chiang Mai….that wouldn’t have been the Garden Restaurant on Loi Khro road would it? They had fantastic Khao Soi “Chiang Mai Noodles”, and Tom Yum. I was a regular there for it. But quite a few other places in town have fantastic Khao Soi and Tom Yum also. ????????????☸️????????????
  9. Well, we’re being pushed by Alarmists and politicians and leftist activists to switch to electric vehicles. Then they better make damn sure they can drive through a puddle without a serious problem. Either that, or let us just keep riding our gas powered bikes.
  10. I won’t call mask wearers derogatory names, as long as mask wearers don’t call me derogatory names for not wearing one. Sound fair to you?
  11. Quote: “I respect others who wear the mask…” Reply: So do I. And I also respect those who do not wear the mask. Do you?
  12. You’re not alone Dezlez. Many, many of us will also remain maskless now. We learned the lesson we should have known all along. I and many others will also remain mask-less. I made my decision after wearing the mask all alone and using hand disinfectant and social distancing, and getting double Covid shots and then first booster following by getting Covid anyways. At that point I decided that when I had two tests showing Covid free after recovery…..I would no longer wear the mask. I would return to normal life. It’s all ???? ess at this point. It’s become political. This is a FACT: Covid-19 has become the most politicized disease in history ! ! Best wishes…..
  13. Once your fully vaccinated and double boosted and also have natural immunity from having had Covid and recovered… it’s much much safer not wearing a mask outside than it is crossing a street in Bangkok or Chiang Mai or Phnom Penh. Not to mention….you are least likely to catch Covid when you are outside walking. It’s in crowded indoor places where your chances of catching it increases. You’re very safe actually outdoors. Very unlikely to catch it when unmasked outdoors. Outdoors and not in large groups, is the safest place to be when it comes to Covid. But feel free to wear it if it makes you feel good, and calms your great fear or if you simply like obeying the leaders. Take care.
  14. In the four months I lived in Chiang Mai long before the Wuhan Covid virus, I saw very, very few people wearing a mask. Almost none. And those that did were usually labourers working on the road in the dust during smokey season. Not easy to remember seeing people wearing a mask. None of the Thais and westerners I associated with wore a mask. You want to see mask wearers, go to Beijing or Shanghai or some other highly air polluted city where the air is so thick with polluted smog it’s hard to see several blocks ahead. Try visiting during January and February. It’s really quite shocking. By the way…..yes….I don’t like my rights to be trampled. You find that surprising? When people start ordering others around, beyond the boundaries of common sense laws, then don’t be surprised when they start to feel their rights are being trampled. Have a wonderful and safe day.
  15. Thank you. So if there is no mandate in Thailand, people commenting in this thread should not be upset if some of us decide we don’t want to wear one. It really seems some people here love to control others, and make people bow to their will. Best wishes.
  16. Brittney Griner was arrested in Russia on drug charges and found herself behind bars. How you equate that with refusing to wear a funny looking Covid mask once your fully vaccinated and multiple boosters plus natural immunity, I’m not sure. I do believe in following common sense laws like not assaulting or killing people, not committing sexual assault, not committing theft and robbing corner stores or banks, and not getting involved in drugs except for medical purposes etc. Those are common sense laws. I have no problem with them. I have a problem with somebody telling me I have to wear a mask for political reasons. And in reality that’s all it is at this point. Obeying political dictates put out by the power hungry. There is no scientific basis for a person who is quadruple vaxxed with the best Covid vaccines, plus who has had Covid and recovered and now has natural immunity also………no reason for that person to wear a mask outside in public. Somebody tries to force me to wear a mask in my own place or outside, I’ll tell them where they can get off. They told us the vaccine was the ticket for getting back to a normal life. Period ! Take care and best wishes to you and your family ???????? ☸️
  17. I was simply stating facts. I understand that gets under a lot of people’s skin these strange days. I sincerely apologize if facts bother you that much. Sorry. Namo Buddhaya ???????? ☸️
  18. Uhmm……in case you failed to notice…people in this thread are talking about politically mandated wearing of cheap medical face masks for Covid. Not religious veils or party masks. Perhaps there is another thread somewhere where people are discussing those types of masks. Best wishes.. Namo Buddhaya ???????? ☸️
  19. “Baht bus..” That’s the same as a Songthaew, am I correct?
  20. I look at countries around the world, including Thailand. The mask, is not part of any country’s historical laws or customs. And I know that many Thais are also finished with the mask just from reading all the comments in this tread. And the two families I help support in Cambodia are done with the mask. All the photos and videos they send me now are mask free. Many countries around the world finished with the mask. Time to get back to normal life and stop living paranoid. By the way, people compare countries all the time. Welcome to planet Earth. And yes…..in Canada our freedoms are very much under attack. That is one reason that when I return to s.e. Asia…..it’s to stay. Not just a several months visit like the last two times. Take care….. have a great day, Kob khun khrap. Au kun cheraown ????????????
  21. Leftist/socialist/Marxist mud slinging and ad hominem name calling of conservatives and libertarians and conservative media is very bad form. I believe in and I’m fully willing to obey common sense laws and customs. Like stopping at red lights, allowing right of way on the streets and highways, respecting religious customs and temples. Not committing theft, not doing drugs, being charitable to the poor etc., etc, etc,. But once I am fully vaccinated (four shots) and had Covid and recovered, the face mask is no longer in that list. Have a wonderful day. ???????? ☸️ ???????? ???????? ???????? ????????
  22. Paranoia? Not really. I’m not the one going around masked up anymore or scared about global warming/climate change. If you wish to talk to people who are paranoid, go talk to them. Take care.
  23. Quite aware that that part of the world is different. Although I never went to the party cities of Phuket or Pattaya, I did go other places and I lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Siem Reap, Cambodia and spent time in the mountains of north Thailand, (experienced living in a Lisu mountain tribe village for a while). While living in Cambodia (Siem Reap), I stayed in a very poor village in Cambodia. To this day I help support two poverty stricken families in that village in Cambodia. Back in Canada to tie up loose ends here, and got caught by quadruple cardiac bypass surgery, (almost died, one time I closed my eyes….I actually believed I was closing them for the last time. Spooky), and then got caught by Covid. But now I’ll be returning later this year, or early 2023, to stay permanently for the rest of my life. Take care.
