If so, the only thing new learned is that his command of English is particularly poor.
If I was a bureaucrat writing to foreign dignitaries, I would make absolutely sure that my correspondence were reviewed by a translator who was capable of both editing and translating the document before it was publish. Why? Doing otherwise would make me look incompetent.
I know in the US especially in muli-ethnic communities like in California, the government issues Covid related documents and news in 18 languages and 10 indigenous Latin American dialects. I doubt those documents are written in a pigin form of the target language.
The fact that Thais in the upper crust of the power elite can't produce a simple letter in English really shows their own ethnocentrism: Thailand is the center of the universe. English may be the international media for business and official communication but English speakers who visit Thailand should all be fluent in Thai. If they refuse, then broken English is what they'll get. That's rather embarrassing.
I don't expect governors to have a good command of English, but I do expect them to know where to find a competent translator so their message to foreigners, especially foreign embassy staff, doesn't get lost in translation.- 4

Driving with headlights on during the daytime is, I believe, illegal here.
I do it all the time. Most modern vehicles now have some front light on for day-time driving. All properly functioning motorcycles do. I simply turn my car lights on: seat-belt, lights. I've driven through check-points countless times during the day. No BIB has said "Boo" to me about burning headlights during the day.
It makes you stand out from the lemmings. -

the driver pulled out to overake without checking for oncoming traffic which is the usual norm here
More likely the driver pulled out to overtake, saw it was a motorcycle, and figured he was bigger and had more road-status than the motorcycle so the MC driver, if he wished to live, would brake hard and hit the shoulder.
I've been force to brake and go for the shoulder in my car more times that I can remember. Thai really are completely suicidal. If there is a car parked in the road in their lane, they drive into the oncoming lane and fully expect oncoming traffic to yield to them. I'm not suicidal so I look for it and take precautions. That suicidal behavior works until it doesn't then here's the results: another on-the-scene fatality. The Thai driver is now probably more scared of a farang ghost haunting him than any sanctions that Thai law won't levy against his failure to yield. -

I've seen scenes like that in Netflix's Narcos when one cartel is out to kill another cartel. No wonder the dude freaked. How's he suppose to know they're cops? They sort of look like cartel members.

I wonder who is more likely to be struck. Those with positive attitudes or those with negative attitude?

Think is was same fella that came up with cow dung in India. That took off. Still waiting on test results.
Wouldn't it be funny if cow poop actually prevented Covid?
OMG! What a s***y situation! LOL. -
Who knows. If studied it may be found to have some anti-viral activity. Effective? Unless studied no one will know. It might work as a placebo if nothing else.

And I won't believe these assertions until there is 5 years of data backing the claims. Until then, this all is a live trial experiment with too short of a time line to make accurate observations no less accurate predictions.

If they really wanted to save lives, they would adjust their overall manpower and shift staff to address the slaughter on Thai roads which make's the 850 total Covid deaths since 2019 pale in comparison. Long Covid is scary? How about the thousands who are permanently injured and disabled annually on Thai roads not to mention the tens of thousand who are outright killed.
Hate to say it but the priorities here are truly mixed. I can discern what is truly deadly scary against what has a high probability of not causing more than an inconvenient sickness for most. "Covid will get you for sure." Probably not. I'm much more afraid of the roads. I wish there was an mRNA vaccine for Thai drivers that could inoculate them from their driving stupidity. If it was only 50% effective I'd rejoice. But it would have to be over 95% effective to drop the road death to something comparable with Covid deaths.- 15

Now a half a dozen universities will create their own expert studies in order to back the Prayut's talk about safe and effective Sinovac vaccines. When the data doesn't fit, make your own.

She is 100 percent correct. The other issue is with election not until 2023, Uncle Tu will be in power until at least 2030, Thailand is in for a real world of hurt unless the apathy created can be overcome. The question is how do you fight against a deck he stacked with 250 appointed senators and the backing of a few of the other parties.....By 2030 the entire country will be well underneath the poverty level while the Hi-So's will have gained immense wealth and normal folks will be scrambling just to feed themselves daily......my opinion and view.

If the had the vaccines and if 70% of the population wanted to be vaccinated, it would be well into 2022 before they hit the 70% mark. Hot air does not blow away ineptness.

If there are any anti-discrimination laws regarding housing I doubt they'd be enforced.
If you have lived here long enough you know this is a racist country. That's nothing new. Perhaps your new and were surprised. Now you know. So, why would you want to live where the landlord is an avowed racist? There are plenty of rentals where the landlords care about renting there apartment regardless of your race. You'll both be happier.- 1

4 hours ago, webfact said:One was the importance of what he called "City Marketing".
This was needed because if foreigners looked at the total virus numbers in Thailand they might be scared and put off visiting.
So it was important that Phuket figures were reported separately to inspire confidence that the virus was under control.
So they openly admit that they are attempting to deceive potential tourists into believing all is well in Thailand in order to entice them to travel to Phuket (where it may or may not be under control) where they will quickly find that the situation on the ground throughout Thailand is different then they were led to believe by the marketing.
Now, what could possibly go wrong by using thinly veiled lies to promote tourism?
What happens in six weeks when they get to Phuket and are arrested or harrassed by police the first night here for gathering with a few traveling companions and family member while having a beer or wine next to the hotel pool or on the beach? What happens if they are told they can not leave Phuket for their own safety? What happens when they get here and the island is essentially closed. Then the tourist sit in their hotels (or jail) and contemplate the marketing that brought them to Thailand in the first place???- 4

Welcome to the fruits of the Belt and Road Initiative. No doubt the exceptional nation in the west will be having a cow and will look for ways to throw a spanner into the works.
BRI. This is what it will look like for Asia and Euasia. Hence the push for infrastructure like high-speed rail. -

Only Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines have, so far, been acquired and administered in Thailand. More than 2.64 million doses have been administered since February, with 921,825 people having received two doses.
Pretty pathetic testament for those who created the local epidemic in the first place.
If the Indian variant creates a new epidemic on top of the current one - they'll need those extended "emergency decree" orders in place for a long time to come.
These doctors are just voicing the mood of the general public. The ineptness of those ruling with a iron rod is wearing thin based on my interaction with Thais I know well.- 4

To reduce the risk of it spreading, the government banned the splashing of water - an annual ritual - and cancelled all public events which might cause people to gather.
But they let people travel from the BKK hot spot to everywhere in Thailand. And it spread like wildfire.
So - who at fault?
