  1. With a rooted Device you can install different Firmwares.

Some of them give you more options or better Battery Live for example.

For Samsung the main reason is to get a vanilla Android without all the crap what Samsung put on your phone and you cannot delete it.

Easiest phones to root are the one from OnePlus.

  2. well that is what i call entry level what i would put in a kids room.

But you can see the point don't you?

My midrange 60" Full HD TV was 4 years ago a midrange product.

now you can get 4k at a similar size for a fraction of the cost.

Now think again about the fast moving technology.

  3. Strange problem what you have, I guess the problem must be your device (or settings)

I use Netfilx for years now on phones, TV's, android boxes, game consoles and Computers and never had your described widescreen Problem.

I can confirm your point about things staying in your timeline after you not finished watching because it was rubbish.

This is the only thing what i hate about Netfilx and it wonders me why they not change it.

  4. @manarak

I'm sorry to say but 25k for a TV is a low range Product, no matter witch Brand.

My TV (LG 60") was 75k 4 years ago and is only a midrange Model, still working fine.

Repairing a lowrange product isn't worth the hassle because as long as it isn't a dead fuse it cost more as a newer model in the same range.

On most of the LCD TV's you can repair the Backlight but the problem is that there is a good chance to break the panel when dismantling it.

Because of that only very experienced Technicians doing it, the Part itself cost nothing.

The main Problem with the high failure rates here in Thailand is as @impulse said, poor power line condition.

It's very important that you have proper surge protection here, but that's not the reason of the failure in your TV.

Electronics these days are not as robust as 20-30 years ago and is not needed anymore because of the fast developing technology.

I would say 95% of the people (well trained customer ? ) change their TV after 4-6 Years because they want a newer shinier one and the industry telling them they need a new one.

The last passage are just my thoughts!

  5. because of it's dangerous handling (fumes and corrosion) I would like to stay away from the "wet" acid and try now the "dry" acid.

I ordered now a 20kg container online, should arrive in the next days.

I also stay away from all this "Pool cleaning" companies because i tried a couple and they're all worthless (or at least i couldn't find a good one).

When you not standing behind them and control them all the time they do a shit job or nothing.

When i have to stand behind them and control their work all the time then i can do it myself, only then i know it's done properly.

It take's only 1-2h a week so no big deal and a bit manual labor doesn't hurt.

    1. because i haven't found something in the pool section here! Otherwise i wouldn't ask.
    2. I'm looking for DRY acid, not normal  hydrochloric acid what you maybe thinking of.

I was in 3 Shops in Pattaya and only got blank stares when asking for dry acid, looks like they have no glue about because they only offering me hydrochloric acid.

  6. Samsung is ok and have a good price for value.

If you want a proper Workhorse for many years, then go with Lexmark.

HP is not to far behind Lexmark when you go for the professional Range.

Brother are ok but never was a big fan of them because the spare-part situation was even in middle Europe sometimes tricky.

Used to use Duracell, we bought them in boxes of 625, I never had any instance of them leaking, they also have a use by date printed on them that should be at least 5 years.

I'm sure they wasn't a copy because I bought them in Austria and brought them with me when I moved to Thailand.

I also realized years ago that they had stopped promoting that they are leak-proof.

  8. One more Vote for Mr. Ken DC-Fans. You can get them in different styles and sizes.

Go as big as possible, I have an 60" fan and it blew away my old Westinghouse Fan what i brought over from Europe.

Sure they are not cheap (mine was around 10.000 Baht) but well worth the money!

  9. I recommend to stay away from Duracell, they are not as good as they was before.

Every single Duracell Battery I brought with me leaked before they are empty or exceed their "use before" date.

Better use leak-proof Energizer or Panasonic cells.

  10. I hit 40 this year so I exceed your requested Age range.

I live here for about 4 years now and I haven't seen that much young people around Town who are living here.

Almost all of them are Tourists.

You will find a few at Sports clubs and the mentioned Language schools.

I cant say anything about the nightlife because I'm totally uninterested (had my wild times 20 years ago and don't miss them) and I'm also in a happy relationship.

Over all I would say the expat community here in Pattaya is very "mature"

    cheers

  13. As I wrote before:  i tried everything to fix it with no success.

I was also in Contact with the official MINIX Forum and get some help from the "officials" but no success (maybe a hardware problem with my Laptop)

    Back to the question:

Did anyone know a shop in Pattaya where you can bring it to repair?

  14. Hi,

anyone know a shop in Pattaya where you can bring your minix box for repair?

The reason why is that my box won't boot anymore and i tried everything to fix it with no success.

I bought the box over Lazada and the seller don't give any warranty (didn't looked close enough when i ordered  )

    thx
