  1. There are undoubtedly member states of the UN which are anti Israeli; some of that enmity may be borne of anti Semitism, but history suggests that Islam and Judaism rubbed along together rather well until the mid 20th century, so does today's anti Israel sentiment come from innate anti semitism or from outrage at the behaviour of the state of Israel over the past decades?
  2. Can you elaborate? Without facts to back up your claim, that is simply slander.
  3. I read it, but that is not proof that the UN is 'anti Jewish'. So I will ask my question slightly differently: can you provide verifiable evidence that the UN is 'anti Jewish' rather than expect us to accept as fact a statement derived from your own inherent prejudice?
  4. Can you provide verifiable evidence of this bold statement?
  5. So Israel is beyond any criticism; any negative comment can only be borne of anti-semitism? Is that what you are saying?
  6. The demonisation of any institution or individual who dares to criticise the state of Israel as anti Jewish or anti semitic has become as tiresome as it is predictable.
  7. Oh, look at that - Shock Polemicist Hack in Lying for Clicks Scandal... Allison in Blunderland (again) "as the Eye has noted in recent years, Pearson has a tendency to rely on Trumpish "alternative facts" for her Telegraph columns, preferring anecdotal accounts from her correspondents and Twitter followers to anything scrupulously sourced."
  8. Listen to myself? I was not the one trying to exploit this woman's horrific ordeal for cheap point scoring, albeit wholly incorrect in its attribution.
  9. I am pretty sure that the orange rapist was in the hot seat in 2018 when this guy was first convicted for sex offences. Maybe he was inspired by Trump's reputation for sexually assaulting women with impunity.
  10. What utter nonsense; of course you can. It's has been happening for centuries and is prefectly legal. People often stand outside courts during high profile cases and shout slogans, hold placards and generally try to get their message across to whomever will listen. That's called freedom of speech. You know, the very crux of this thread.
  11. Are you suggesting that knowledge of the law should be restricted to specific individuals? I don't think they were trying to influence the judge, but I am intrigued that you think it's illegal for someone to define the law. Can you highlight what law makes it illegal to make it public knowledge that a point of law exists? That sounds very kafkaesque, like something from a Joseph Heller novel.
  12. They were arrested because they peacefully held up a sign that stated a publicly listed aspect of English law. If the law is scared of knowledge then there is something fundamentally wrong with the system. Maybe we revert to teaching law, medicine etc in Latin? That way we can really ensure that the hoi poloi are restricted from taking part in how our country is run.
  13. For me, it became apparent that freedom of speech was under attack when a woman was prosecuted for highlighting a point of law. Judge defies High Court and orders police to arrest 11 for holding signs
  14. Of course, there are parallels - in the 60s, the US invaded a sovereign country and caused countless deaths because of their arrogant belief that might was right. In Ukraine, Russia is playing the role that the US played in Vietnam. You backed the wrong side in the 60s and you are backing the wrong side now.
  15. I take it you have never been to Russia then?
  16. But probably very expensive to build (well, the spec will suggest expensive at least) so someone will be very happy to build and supply as many as they can get away with before the cracks appear in the welding and the hinges break off the doors etc.
  17. The knots you tie yourself in are truly bewildering.
  18. What has the history of US wars got to do with this? Russia invaded a sovereign country and has committed countless atrocities as it has destroyed much of the country's infrastructure. There should be no doubt that Russia as a country must pay massively in reparations for many years to come. For those who actively enabled and supported it's actions they need to face proper justice. I have a hope that once the war is over, Ukraine will establish some group similar to the Simon Wiesenthal Center, and spend the next however many years hunting down and delivering justice to each and every one of those who have committed crimes in Ukraine.
  19. Now now, don't be so ageist - there is no reason that the young can't be red faced and perma-angry. ‘We feel castrated’: the young British men embracing right-wing, misogynistic politics
  20. Doing something right? That all depends on what is considered 'right'. According to the Press Gazette themselves, the awards "celebrate publishers that are successfully experimenting with new technology to grow their audience, who have produced astonishing interactive storytelling, wowed new audiences with beautiful video, carved out a sustainable future by winning new subscribers and delighted our eardrums with perfectly produced podcasts "As well as the content itself, their judging criteria included looking at design, usability, and evidence of commercial and audience success." So successfully appealing to their target market, the red faced perma-angry with a broad streak of jingoism running through them, is enough to win an award.
  21. That's her and her employer's entire business model. Whining and whinging about a contrived notion of 'wokeness' sells papers and clicks to the perma-angry.
  22. So the question of funding is unclear. For an organisation that claims to try to provide accuracy in the fog of news, they should maybe consider their own transparency, or lack thereof.
  23. Your faith in Israeli justice is touching but somewhat naive. Watchdog: Under 1% of Israel Army Probes Yield Prosecution Between 2017 and 2021, the Israeli military received 1,260 cases of alleged offenses by Israeli soldiers against Palestinians, including 409 cases involving the killing of Palestinians, according to military data obtained by the group Yesh Din and released Wednesday after a freedom of information request. The Israeli military opened 248 criminal investigations into instances of possible misconduct in response to those complaints — just 21.4% of the total, Yesh Din said. Only 11 investigations during that five-year period have yielded indictments. In those cases, Israel’s military prosecutors acted with leniency toward convicted soldiers, the group added, with those sentenced for killing Palestinians serving only short-term military community service.
  24. Here are the sources I provided, every one of which you claim not to be "reliable, unbiased or reputable": Human Rights Watch Oxfam Al Jazeera CNN Reuters The Guardian The Washington Post No wonder the world is so messed up and thinking so poisoned when people like you dismiss these organisations so nonchalantly. They don't fit your preferred narrative so you smear them - sounds very much like the behaviour of a small middle eastern country that doesn't take well to criticism.
  25. Will this woke lefty assaults on good, traditional English values never end? It wasn't like this in Sunak's day. What's wrong with bread and dripping anyway? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14086091/amp/gen-z-waging-war-sandwiches-ditching-classic-flavours.html
