  1. Did the money go into Hamas coffers?
  2. Is the woman an agent of Hamas?
  3. So the boy's mother was paid for services she provided. Is she Hamas? Is that money now funding Hamas activities or maybe she used it to buy food for her children? Do you know which is correct?
  4. Seems to be? So no definitive proof then? In that case the law still stands and the Telegraph is, as it does so very often, muck raking.
  5. No but if the G7 becomes the G11 then they will qualify. https://www.investopedia.com/insights/worlds-top-economies/
  6. Betteridge's law of headlines: Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betteridge's_law_of_headlines?wprov=sfla1
  7. This will effectively cut kaliningrad off from power, which should be interesting. I have been there a few times; it is very much a region of two halves. There are the pre war areas of gently decaying former splendour to be found in many old Germanic towns, and there is the post was urban hell of Soviet concrete brutalism. Just crossing the road from one side to the other, the air seems to change.
  8. The world's second largest military is in such fine fettle that it is now using donkeys on the front line. Putin’s troops are getting so desperate they’re using donkeys to supply ammo The Soviet army had to start using donkeys and horses to carry ammunition in Ukraine – something that hasn’t been done for over a century. https://www.metro.co.uk/2025/02/07/putin-resorts-using-donkeys-front-line-run-vehicles-22513922/amp/
  9. As a slogan, it may rouse a few of the more florid of complection, but in reality that means absolutely nothing. Muslims and non Muslims live together in peaceful and civic harmony all over the world. They prove your post to be nothing more than ill informed nonsense.
  10. If you are taking that logic, they actually came from Ethiopia. But I see your line of thought - Alaska belongs to Greenland.
  11. I think that you are getting confused. The majority is Greenlanders are indigenous Inuits. It's the majority of Americans who are not native to their country.
  12. Stock up on those drumpcoins, you might be able to bribe your way out.
  13. Your cries are too late - you've already lost the fight you didn't even know you were in.
  14. American dominance in AI is so yesterday. Today, the Chinese are walking all over you. How China’s new AI model DeepSeek is threatening U.S. dominance https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/01/24/how-chinas-new-ai-model-deepseek-is-threatening-us-dominance.html
  15. I visited Dumaguete last year and really enjoyed it - it felt like a place I could retire to if circumstances were different.
  16. It looks like the guy is probably dead - do you think that is a good thing?
  17. It seems that for many on the right, they can quote only 2 flavours of economic model, the rampant, unchecked greed of the free market that grinds them down on a daily basis, and socialism/marxism/communism (all interchangeable). In fact, it is much like those who cry about the left pushing cultural marxism on society, but when challenged to explain what is meant by cultural marxism, it is apparent that other than hearing it mentioned on Fox news, they have no idea what it is, only that they are supposed to believe it is a prevalent threat.
  18. That's an operating profit before tax is paid. Profit margins for supermarkets in the UK are around 3 to 5%.
  19. Also known as the Dead Cat strategy, or in this case the Dead President strategy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_cat_strategy
  20. I think the UK has huge potential too - there must be many disused mine shafts that could be converted to house these mechanisms. I think there is a company doing this in Southern Scotland already.
  21. Not true. Gravity batteries are very effective. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_battery?wprov=sfla1
  22. Thanks - I guess that shows how unpredictable the whole thing is. Maybe the murdoch strategy was to throw a ridiculous sum (£10 million) on the table in some sort of poker move, and Harry folded.
  23. I may be wrong, but I think there is an algorithmic mechanism for determining damages in the event that the plaintiff wins. All Murdoch's lawyers needed to do was estimate what that amount would be then offer a chunk more. Harry had no option but to accept it or he could have been financially ruined even if he won in court.
  24. The Wagatha Christie tale shows just how expensive celebrity litigation can be; we are all disappointed that Murdoch hasn't been exposed as we would like, but I can understand fully why Harry chose to err on the side of caution, If he was to lose, or even, as Chomper pointed out, awarded less than the large sum offered by NGN, he would have been hammered financially.
  25. No case is guaranteed - it is entirely possible that it was not about the money he might be awarded had he won, but could be about the money he might have been liable for if he lost the case. His move was smart, but I guess also NGN were smart too. Murdoch has had a lifetime of the foulest of linen that he doesn't want aired in public.
