  1. I only wish the Met were as keen to investigate corruption and collusion with foreign states in the UK government.
  2. When internal combustion engines are replaced with less polluting alternatives, there will be no single factor behind that transition, but a whole range of reasons. The actions of ballsy young people like GT will have played their part as they intend. See the likes of groups such as 38 Degrees, for example.
  3. What she managed to do is get lots of people talking about it. If she hadn't turned up and hadn't been arrested, it wouldn't be news and we wouldn't be discussing it. She amplifies the cause immensely, and she excels at it.
  4. I am pretty sure that she isn't overly thrilled by child slavery either - do you have evidence that she supports it?
  5. I would much rather the UK approach to gun laws than some sort of free for all where there are next to no controls over who gets guns, the government is beholden to the gun lobby and mass shootings are an almost daily occurrence the length and breadth of the country.
  6. Do you really want to live in a society where the decision on whether to support the most vulnerable is put to a plebiscite?
  7. Well it would be our republic so you have nothing to worry about there. But do you really think that the security detail on his family was limited prior to the book? Were there gaps which have had to be filled since the book came out? Surely he did them a favour then?
  8. The poor woman had more than her share of troubles over the years, all played out in the world's media like she was some commodity to be lapped up for our entertainment. Something definitely doesn't seem right here, but I could think of a hundred better candidates than covid vaccination.
  9. The scary thing is though, that the actors are truly as disconnected from reality as they appear to be; the bountiful flaws and weaknesses they have demonstrated over decades are genuine - and despite how truly unfit for public office they are, they are amongst the most powerful people in the world. We are ruled by some of the least capable people imaginable - and there is literally nothing we can do about it.
  10. I would imagine that financial matters are significant factors in many authors' decisions to write, especially those considered celebrities. So good on him for trying to provide for his family - it is not like he chose to be a royal amidst some of the most dysfunctional, corrupt creatures in the country. That he was born into it means his options to earn a crust are rather limited unless he would have continued to kowtow. At least the taxpayer now has one fewer parasite to fund in luxury. If only we could unburden ourselves of the rest of them...
  11. Maybe we should all apply for Non Dom status then none of us need ever pay tax again. Personally, I would say that if you live in the UK, your children grow up there and your husband is the Prime Minister of the country, you shouldn't need to be shamed into actually paying taxes.
  12. Especially multimillionaire politicians married to tax avoiding billionaires.
  13. How does one legally seek asylum in the UK?
  14. It's not a rite of passage, it's a nasty, bullying and shameful way for the UK press to behave irrespective of who is on the receiving end. The palace should have stamped it out with Diana, and offered support to Kate and Meghan. They are not powerless here.
  15. Don't get me wrong, I am no fan of the royal family, but I hate racism and unfairness even more. This article is a bit of an eye-opener, showing just how unfairly Megan has been treated by the UK press.
  16. There is no doubt that, within context, the treatment of Meghan has been unfair and created from racism and our innate British fondness for bootlicking deference and servility. But to use this debate as a means of widening the scope of the discussion does not confer approval to the treatment she has received.
  17. That's a start, but why stop there? Let's get rid of this entire, costly clown show. The days of almost ethereal, untouchable elites has gone. We can now see what a cast of truly dysfunctional and utterly reprehensible people the entire family is. Time to put an end to this farce.
  18. *Deleted posts edited out* Examples? Well, illegal immigration to North America - much from the lawless, impoverished Central American countries. It's not a stretch to say that the US bears a significant responsibility for the state of the countries there from it's decades of exploitation and it's support for paramilitary regimes and right wing dictators. Afghanistan, Syria, North African basket case countries? Again, the US and it's European lackeys have spent most of the past 70 years propping up the worst sort of people to ensure that the countries failed to thrive.Prior to that, Empire and colonialism sowed the seeds of the inequality and strife that blight these regions to this day. So, in my view, the West bears significant responsibility for the state of the developing world, and it can't wash it's hands now simply because it's chickens are coming home to roost.
