  1. anyone ever heard of this company?

    "arrange loans"

they seem a Russian company based in Pattaya

What an outrageously blatant TROLL post with so many options available OTHER THAN where you suggest in this B.S. troll post 1. Own your home! Re-morgage! 2. Credit cards for such a small amount of 12- 13 K dollars. 3. Friends.

If none of that is available to you then you got more WRONG in your life than a need for 500K Baht.

  2. A solicitor friend had exactly the same issue with UPS importing a small item into the UK. The delivery guy came to him but refused to leave the item before he had received payment. He too asked what the charge was for and was told customs duty. My friend asked to see the custom charge paperwork. Turned out it was just an estimate done by UPS and they had no back up paperwork from customs. Being a solicitor my friend told the delivery guy sorry but i dont have any cash but could give him a cheque. The delivery guy accepted this and left the item and went away with the cheque whereupon my friend then rings his bank and cancels the cheque.

Only way to deal with their scam

I am sure this method was exactly what the solicitor needed to enhance his credit bureau credit rating. NSF

The reason USPS is the way to go is because they hand off to the regular Thai Post and for some reason they have a fairly decent reputation for NOT pulling this scam. I've read where all the foreign 3rd party delivery companies have this problem to one extent or another.

The main difference is (IMO) employees of the Thai post are government employees and employees of 3rd party companies such as DHL, UPS and FedEx are employees of private companies. Yeah, I know, government people aren't known for being free from corruption, but in this case it may just be harder to pull off for a Thai Post employee.

My advice is to call UPS's head office and complain. If you have a tracking number then they will know which office is pulling this scam and you may just help the next guy by rooting out these crooks.

    UPS Parcel Delivery Service Ltd.

    Head Office

    16/1 Soi Sukhumvit 44/1

    Sukhumvit Road, Prakhanong, Klongtoey

    Bangkok 10110

    Thailand

    Tel.: 66 2728 9000

    Fax: 66 2712 1818

I did write an email to them. They said they would look into the matter. So I am waiting to see if they do anything

Sorry to be the one to tell you but they do not respond well to ignorance in the receivers. If you get anything at all back from them it will be a form mail with the information attached detailing the shipping and receiving cost associated with International shipping.

Where is this scam you speak of>>>> There is no scam just stupid importers to Thailand. Regarding CIF shipments. All the top 3 have websites clearly outlining all details.

  5. That's why i never buy anything from a vendor that only ships UPS or Fedex. UPS is the worst. You paid like $80, $100, for shipping and then when it arrives, they add another $10 or so for handling/customs fees. And they bring you a pile of documents to sign. Never seen anything ike it. i hate them.

Yeah now I also certainly hate them.

Gee thats funny how the 2 largest courier companies in the world with DHL licking at their heels.... could be so stupid to overstate value fees. Yeah right ah heh sure.thumbsup.gif

You're American right? You hardly know what tax is.

So Thailand has high import tax on clothing. So does India, so does South Africa, so does Brazil. The idea is to protect the local industry. Probably 40%, by the sound of it. UPS will add handling/customs fees.

    The arithmetic

<< That's what I did. I also never ever used a courier service again. >>

it depends on the country. Typically, the PO depot / international hub has a Customs department, staffed by Revenue Service / Customs. If you use post services instead of courier, they will calculate the import duty and you pay when you collect the parcel.

The arithmetic that Don Mega showed is wrong. The import duty is calculated on the value of the goods, not including the shipping cost. Then after the import duty is added, there may be VAT.

So the quoted fee should be less than Don Mega's calculation ?

Just wait for the 2nd visit for heavens sake and get the tally then. Now go to your room and wait for the 2nd delivery attempt like a good child.

  7. Yes, and I told them to abandon the shipment. Maybe the wrong decision, but there was some principle involved

UPS has always charged for clearing customs and paying brokerage fees has always been that of the customer including taxes paid by UPS on the customers behalf. If the seller does the UPS booking and ships the Package Standard class. All fees go to the customer receiving. If the seller had shipped it Express class or higher the brokerage fees would have waived. Point to note... Brokerage fees begin at $25.dollars for a border hop N.America to over $50 for Int'l.

Should of paid the fees and got your package but having sent back refused may make it very difficult to get your money back even with a guaranteed Visa used. Need an RMA #

  8. I think there is some confusion to this article...

U-Fun is not the issue, it's a small group that has been creating "stores" where you can spend your U-Fun money.

U-Fun was investigated by the Thai government and even publicly apologized to U-Fun for not being a scam.

U-Tokens are virtual currency like Bitcoin, but more of a way to spend the mutual stock in certain companies.

What U-Fun does is invest in mutuals in various Chinese companies and the U-tokens are the shares and rather than

going through a brokerage firm to get your money, you can use your U-Tokens. It's actually quite brilliant.

I am not sure from this article that U-Fun is in trouble, but to me it looks like a group of people has been scamming people

to use their U-Tokens at virtual stores that don't exist.

There is not pyramid to U-Fun, you can invest by buying U-Tokens and when the stock in the companies they invest in go up

so do your earnings. If you want to promote U-Fun, you can and make commissions as you're getting paid like a broker would

    for finding investors.

Just a note, I am not an investor with U-Fun, but I have researched it as I know many that are. Cheers!

WOW...Thank you for your 3rd hand or is it 4th hand knowledge or 10th hand. This from a what? You? Quote>just a note, I am not an investor with U-Fun, but I have researched it as I know many that are. Cheers!< unquote He researched it okay....cheesy.gif

  9. never learning ? quickly to forget ?

Mae Chamoy Thipyaso, the Thailand wife of a senior officer from the Royal Thai Air Force, founded an investment firm by the name Mae Chamoy Funds. The woman used the infamous Ponzi scheme in order to trick a large number of investors. Nearly half a century after Charles Ponzi was caught cheating with the scheme Thipyaso and seven accomplices thought they could trick investors with the notorious pyramid scheme. However, they didn’t manage to get away with it and in July 1989 Thipyaso and the seven other schemers were sentenced all to a total of 141,078 years behind bars. In comparison to Ponzi and his 17 years in jail Thipyaso and her accomplices didn’t manage to get easily out of their situation.

By the time they were caught and sentenced at a court in Bangkok, Thailand, they had tricked over 16,000 Thais and had built a system worth $204 million at that time.

We needed to have you give us a historical lesson FOR WHAT REASON????? Hope you feel better now getting that out of your cobwebs.passifier.gif.pagespeed.ce.4LsapYv4zCdgc

  10. Why did you mot lable the map according to the options in the poll?

    Example:

Purple = North East, = Essan???

Some in my area consider it Essan, some Northen, some Eastern.

This could skew the results of your pole.

    Consistency is important in science.

Yeah when I saw the map, I found I live in a different part than I thought? Go figurer...

Well that is just blind attention to detail

  12. I'd be surprised if Bangkok or Pattaya doesn't win it.

Issan will win for the sheer amount of Europeans married to the naive farm girls of that area and also the naive europeans who are supporting whole families there.

hmmmmmmm ..... notice how thai companies are all apologetic and sorry once social media get hold of their bad behavior.

Pattee should be fired without waiting for some more stupid comments from his side.

For me NOK air is now a no fly zone as Thai will be soon but I have booked one flight already and they don't want to give the money back.

I am sure you will be sadly missed but fondly remembered. 5555555cheesy.gif

  14. hmmmmmmm ..... notice how thai companies are all apologetic and sorry once social media get hold of their bad behavior.

On the other side of that coin...one can look at the fact some disabled people have an I am entitled attitude and continually slam that opinion at everyone in their way. The story surely indicates that the staff were will to help in the absence of a wheelchair but it seems the disabled WAS stubborn and his wife was just a pure Tyrant with the onus on RANT.

  15. To all the people complaining about farangs dying in Thailand....really?? I agree some did nothing wrong to deserve it.

But do you think no Thai people die under same circumstances? You just don't hear about it because nobody on Thai Visa

gives a shit about some poor Thai man dying. It has a lot more to do with people's social circles and choices than being

    a foreigner.

It also could be gullible oil workers who are pulling the 3 months on 1 month off working off shore. Falling in slut love and then leaving the girl to be honorable and trustful for 3 months until they return and then only to find out their slut girl still had itches while they were gone but had found others to scratch them for her. Balconies and parking overhangs and now broken mirriors with door knobs are the new demise methods

More like 28 days on, 28 days off. Talking in general terms, what you say happens frequently. However, random generalisation is appalling and particularly so in this case. The lady in question did not ask Iain to smash in her window, thereby cutting his leg so badly that he bled to death. That was his choice, as was getting into a relationship with her in the first place. Alcohol fueled anger caused his death, not her.

Okay and what genius was holding the unused tourniquet? Geez. Lets all just watch a man bleeding profusely bleed out for crying out loud.

  16. Go to another country and get drunk and stupid!!!! I am sure it is all the fault of the farang!!!! they cause all this headache.....and they get a big headache in return....

probably acted all tough and cool, disrespected thais and maybe even tried to flirt with 7-11 girl.....this will not end well!!!

he is not helping us smile in land of smiles......back to UK to work in gravel pit!!!!

<deleted> How many of these attacks are done by cowardly Thais who take advantage of someone if they are drunk or injured? Almost all of them. Those cowards who attacked him only did so because he was compromised. If these Thais were in the West they would have been beaten so bad they would wish they were never born.

Let's face it, Thais can't fight. When they go abroad they cry about the first person who doesn't smile at them but when foreigners go to the 'land of smiles' they attack them in large groups when the foreigner's back is turned. Why? Because they are afraid of getting the beat out of them one on one.

Those cowards wouldn't be considered real men anywhere else in the world -- which is also why Thai women date westerners.

What a load of crap you spew. Where do you think Mixed Martial Arts began. Can't fight eh? Get real. My wife can rip a Muah Thai bag to shreds and that is the Thai way. Kick boxing is a norm here and now look at how vicious cage fighting is in the West. MMA UFC.
