  1. Too many foreigners die in Thailand for reasons that are not natural. Seems to be getting worse in the past year.

You gotta be kidding to write such nonsense. I live here 13 years and never hear that a foreigner killed a foreigner with a gun in Isaan.

Of course is shooting somebody with a gun not natural. And you're really blaming Thailand now? It's getting worse here, you're right.

Well Thailand is getting more westenernised, and they do tend to copy most things. The OK and all that. A 1911 .45 would do a better job,not a 9 mm pea shooter.

You need to check your ballistics and then your mouth. Pea shooter????? .45 VS 9 MM

  2. Don't have this kind of problem. My wife never ask for money since I handed over my ATM card. It's really so easy

    Fatfather

I don't quite understand the reason for the topic here really.... Considering the selection of a mate for you is based on lies then you can take all the negatives that come with that.

However... If you lay out the truths pre meeting lets say online is some manner. IE: not a wealthy man but can provide food and housing and transportation for US.

I met my wife online Thai site chatted for close to a year with the intention of marrying and moving here permanently. I told her my finances, my work, my plan, my living situation,. A year later we met married and began the PR process to Canada for her. 9 months later she is a landed immigrant and 3 years after that she is a citizen with a 10 year passport. During all this time she has had a JOINT ACCOUNTS WITH ME; bank chequing saving visa RRSPs.

Ready for the good part now fellow TVF people. She just turned 30 and a total doll and I am 67. She has never asked for a thing and the only money that goes out that is solely for her is for the payment of her annual student loan in July. I even offered that WE should pay it off but she refused. During the 3 years in Canada awaiting time in to get citizenship this lady with a bachelor degree earned her own money as a cleaning lady/porter in a shopping mall cleaning bathrooms and what have you. What did she do with the money she earned you wonder???? She put it into our joint account savings.

  3. For Extension of Stay, FOR AN AMERICAN ONLY, you need an Income Affidavit ,.notarized by the US Embassy, and thats it. You never need to show proof of income. Shame on the person who wished they would make an exception for you. Like I said before, to many people here go out of their way for doom and gloom.

And you are so clever and then suddenly your not. Consider all the other nationalities crying and whining about this American free pass to bullsh$t funding proof. How does this make the American consulate look to the current Gov. How long do you think this BS affidavit will fly with the what about me generation complaining about what about them. Get the drift of what people are trying to tell you?????? Wakey Wakeycoffee1.gif

  4. I'll move this to the Thai visa forum.

But in answer to your question I doubt very much if Thai Immigration could access your police record, the UK Immigration cannot so it's pretty unlikely that the Thais would be able to.

You will certainly be safe for a regular visit as a tourist.

The only thing scanning his passport will be bring up on any screen is your personal details IE: what is already printed on your bio page. As far as accessing criminal records go that is a very in depth process and would leave you standing there for hours if not days.

Quote>(Hear stories about UK passports using the biometric IPS system when scanned my conviction will pop up on screen at Thai immigration .. Not sure this is true though).<unquote

  5. Received a couple of emails this morning from friends who are still living in Thailand and each are now desperate to get out. This situation is unlikely to improve and I'm perplexed as to why we are not seeing more foreign expats heading out.

We are still in the editing room of what is shaping up to be the best movie of all times in Thailand. Who would want to miss that. The Main Feature... Bring on the comfy chairs popcorn and beer...w00t.gif

  6. The video, as noted, obviously doesn't prove anything other than a bunch of Thais rushing in to grab the child; however, given Thais would almost never insert themselves into a situation involving others (let alone falang others), the fact that several of them did so clearly tells me that at least the Thais thought this child was in immediate danger. Presuming that was their understanding and intent, bravo to them.

Just the wife's family rat packing the husband because he ran out of money and she wouldn't take the kid because she needed her freedom to find another ATM man. He tested by saying if you don't want the kid I just toss him over the rail.

Right, and you view that as completely justified ? Give yourself an uppercut. Some of the opinions expressed here are straight from cloud cuckooland and yours is typical - whatever the issue was, you dont put a child in harm's way or use kids as bargaining chips - you just dont.

It's also interesting that if this had happened in Pattaya there would be endless howling from the bashers - I dont live in Chiang Mai, but clearly people lose it in every corner of Thailand so I'm not going to hate on the good people of CM based on the activities of a lone idiot. Hopefully those of us who dont leap from tall buildings or fight with Katoeys in Walking St will be given the benefit of the doubt the next time one of those events takes place in our town.

I love to make absurd comments about lousy reporting and I also love to get people goat like yours. I have never understood why people can't just read the news as its posted and then just shut the hell up but they can't and on this forum you get opinions left right and center including murder investigators right to the convictions. So please give me my time on TVF making fun of the news and all the wonderfully stupid opinions I read here now and in the future not to mention the past.

  7. Holy crap you guys have such small ego's that you think this shit heads action = a slight on your race or culture. It's pathetic how 90% of you louts on here disregard the bravery (yes wreckless but consider the situation) of the little Thai guy. You <deleted> should be grateful he did something before that idiot farang managed to kill the kid and bring even more shame to you people. One really dumb posters mentions blocking the kid from falling over the balcony, how the hell do you expect them to do that without angering the farang even more? Potentially causing him to throw the kid even sooner..To all those in denial about him not appearing guilty of trying to throw the kid look at the elevated height of the farang before he gets tackled, he's clearly standing on a platform to get higher ground. So stop the Thai bashing & pitifully trying to make your race appear incapable of any wrong doing, because to the rest of us that's impossible to perceive. You should be grateful you can even live here to complain & b*tch all day long.

Who the hell are you speaking about disgracing our race on our people? What country are you from? and what race are you. If your Thai like your tirade indicates then you must be a Professor of Linguistics and a University here. Doubting you badly and beginning to upchuck violently at your pain causing attack on my brethrensick.gif.pagespeed.ce.tVTSNn-2vrJpEP3T5- .

  9. If its just because its hot here all the time lessens the aches and pains

or the fact you can sleep with women 40 or 50 years younger than yourself> I love my wife 37 years my junior as she is as crazy as me.No kids wanted or needed.

Or the fact you can eat and drink for less than 300 baht a day, Give me good ice cold cola.

maybe you cant afford to go back to the home land so are just trying to make the best of what you have. best of both worlds Go back every 6 months for a medical check up at the Pace Maker Clinic

Please don't be shy. If Costas is not Shy then neither am I; in fact I doubt there is a shy person to be found on TVF

  10. Divorces are cheap. Wouldnot marry in Canada with their ancient divorce laws in this age of equality. Been married here twice since I retired . Can get out of a bad marriage here for the price of a new car in Canada. No need to loss everything

Price of a new car???? You must be one of the biggest losers or just damn gracious to the soon to be ex. All you have to do here is go un-register the marriage where it was registered. Grace the hand of your saviour not a new car for the family that you felt shafted by. You also have been out of Canada to long or you are the faults of your bad marriages there as well. Sounds to me like you have grown accustomed to paying families off so giving the registrar a little tea money won't kill you at all.

  11. Sucker.....you fall for it...........

It was just the instructions from the g/f to make you feel sorry for him and take him also to live with you.

Why some people.....take them sooooo long to understand Thai people.......If ever......

Have you actually been involved with raising a Thai child ? There are lots of good stories, including mine, I realise there are some bad ones out there but your generalization is off base.

You used to be a solid poster & I enjoyed some of your posts, what happened ?

I believe he hates Thailand now since his money nurse girl wife has to move his carcass to Pattaya to keep the money rolling in and keep him in his imported feta ouzo.

  12. About her car... she bought it a couple of years on the 100,000 THB scheme (where the government gave her 100K towards the purchase.) But the stipulation is she can't sell it. Luckily, her sister will take over payments (but not give my fiancee any money for the equity she has the car (which pisses me off)). But at least she's able to get rid of the car.

We will live in Vancouver, WA. I was living in Portland, but decided to move across the river into Washington because NO STATE income tax! That's worth a lot of money every year. And, I'm just 4 miles from Oregon where there is no SALES tax! So when I make any serious purchases, I just head across the bridge where there are a lot of stores who cater to people like me coming across for the no sales tax. All these tax breaks add up to quite a few thousand dollars a year. Marijuana is legal in WA too and will be on July 1 of this year in Oregon. I just went to a hemp exhibit at the Portland Expo Center and the business is exploding.

She can't wait to leave the heat and come enjoy this beautiful cool weather. We are far north, but because of being on the Pacific, it stays mild, never gets bitterly cold. Last year, I was still wearing a sweater in early July. I don't miss the Thai heat and humidity for anything. It's the main reason I left LOS. I could not get used it. My apartment doesn't even have aircon because it's not needed for most of year. Good weather and tax breaks! There is a big Asian community here on the West coast too. I hope she makes a good set of friends.

The one thing that is really going to hurt is getting her health insurance. I have VA, but will have to find a plan for her. That is the big one thing I miss about Thailand. It makes me sick (pun intended) at what we pay for health care!

    Thanks for everyone's advice!

Don't forget her bullet proof vest as this is America after all. You might get her hand gun train ASAP and get her licenced and buy her a personal protection weapon she can handle.

  13. You "buy" the job and position, then you buy your promotions. Completely normal in the Land Of Scams. I seriously doubt you can show me one Civil Servant, Cop or Military man who hasn't achieved his/her rank and position by any other means, because it's obvious as hell they didn't earn them on merit.

My Thai wife has worked for both the RTP and as a civil servant. She paid absolutely nothing for both jobs.

Are you positively absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt????? See Post # 9tongue.png

  14. Indians have the bomb now by tricking the CIA. Covered it all up when the "secret" spy satellite came over.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It has always been common knowledge that they had the bomb. Pretty hard not to have the bomb in every country when the higher education system is all about attracting high paying international students...

How about the 15 year old whiz kid who invented or made a pint sized fusion reactor in his garage from internet study alone. The invention was heralded as the next generation propulsion systems for space vehicles.facepalm.gif

  15. What Section 44 means....

"Section 42 keeps the NCPO in existence and authorises it to control the cabinet."

"Section 44 empowers the NCPO leader to issue any order "for the sake of the reforms in any field, the promotion of love and harmony amongst the people in the nation, or the prevention, abatement or suppression of any act detrimental to national order or security, royal throne, national economy or public administration, whether the act occurs inside or outside the kingdom". The orders so issued are all deemed "lawful, constitutional and final"

    Source...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_interim_constitution_of_Thailand

In other words....The God Clause...think about it & the possible ramifications.

Oh My goodness! I believe it will also empower the morality police too. No skimpy dressed models at car shows and under boob views ever again. It will be okay at slutville tourism destinations though.

  16. Leaving for the UK with the boy is not fair to the mother nor the son. It is her son as well. The best you can do is try to work things out the best you can and try to play some kind of role in the boys life.

Your bargaining chip is that you have a monthly pension, yes?

Your way out of line here..... Momma is calling the shots and papa sees the stupidity of her ways and ideas. Momma seems hell bent on sacrificing child to the insect eating jungle while papa has the boys welfare at heart.

Let momma come to the UK if she cares to fight for her son but as we all know Thai women very often give their kids away to aunts uncles and or grand parents to raise while mother goes out to play in the wild world plus she has the farange bug now and once bitten addiction is the result.

  17. Rewrting the last 50 years would take more than a few lines !

and remember hindsight is perfect vision, the trials and tribulations that life's path takes us through also forms the person/character we have become.

Whilst there are many things I would like to "do over" or paths that in hindsight I shouldnt have taken, I did take them, and they ultimately brought me to where I am now, and I consider myself fortunate to have reached this point in my life and have achieved what I now have and the lifestyle I have.

No complaints in the end result. Often its not the destination, but the journey you took to get there.

The OP is about 'starting' again, not anything after that. Your imaginary fifty years will have to work themselves out.

I would ignore all the advice I heard when I was 10. Most of it was bad and what I wanted to do would have worked out well.

Me too. My mother tried to convince me that sex was dirty. Now I am filthy bastard.w00t.gif

  18. The Russel Crowe factor aside, this story highlights some seriously disparities between how Aus and NZ treat each others citizens.

Despite our long shared history, our 40 year old common economic partnererhip and so called ANZAC traditions, in 2001 Australia enshrined some pretty draconian laws towards NZ citizens. The could live and work in OZ, but it stripped away long established paths to Permament Residency and citizenship. Long established law abiding tax paying kiwi's were not granted access to social services. Over time this has left many in a situation where they are unable to access assistance despite living and working in Australia for decades. Australia will gladly take Kiwi tax dollars, but do nothing in return.

Despite Australia/s petulance, NZ still grants Australian citizens access to PR, citizenship and social security once established in NZ in a straight forward manner, in a way which is not offered when they come to Australia.

It is a highly unfair state of play, where Australia continues to not reciprocate the level of treatment Australians are granted in New Zealand.

but it stripped away long established paths to Permament Residency and citizenship.

OK but why did they do it ? just curious ?

Try his racist anti jewish remarks and his violence against his wife in California for starters.

  19. I have issues with the AP article regarding one blank cartridge in one rifle as my understanding is that there is blanks in all the rifles except one which has the live round and it is a wicked load that does massive damage to the chest cavity thereby ensuring death. Quote: The shooters' identities are kept anonymous, and one of their rifles is loaded with a blank round so nobody knows which officer killed the inmate."" It should read no one knows who had the live round and distroyed the chest cavity.
