And half of Americans think Thailand is Taiwan, and can't point out either on a map!In America the average perception seems to be that Thailand is it an impoverished hellhole full of starving people that sell their young children to sex slave brothels. People think all the girls in the bars for foreigners are child sex slaves. Fewer Americans go to Thailand than Brits, and we have 6 times as many people, so basically hardly anyone has any first or second hand knowledge of Thailand and views of it are completely ridiculous.
They can't find Canada for that matter.

Is the UK full of violent skin-heads with punk haircuts and chains?
That is what I have heard.
Grandpa told me that when he landed in London he thought somehow he had landed in the Middle East but soon found out that the middle east had purchased the UK in a fashion.

What happens to losers like this guy? Are they even jailed in this country?
They reverse roles and become Bubba"s girlfriend and find out what its like getting Assaulted

I don't have much time for Greenpeace but even they dumped Watson because he was far too extreme for them. The man is a dangerous moron.
Check your facts before you also make blatant claims. Watson was not dumped. The directors decided that Greenpeace would stick to all things green and the oceans were not it. Mutually agreed upon was the spin off Sea Shepard Soc. and the vessels would be the first part of the funding before new streams of funding could be established and as history will tell you this so called dangerous man is very well funded.
-
Is that it? We're supposed to respect your opinion because you say so? Without any explanation? You would make a good
sheep, fodder, volunteer for said vessel.Actually, you're wrong. I was on a target vessel that was doing oil exploration off the south-west coast of Australia and saw first hand their stupid and dangerous antics (which were ineffectual).
And your personal experience is?
Your experience and witnessing anything has zero points as a risk assessment or anything else. You are making blatant claims about injury and risk which have no basis in facts other that your ancient opinion of a grease monkey on an oil ship. Get off your high horse and watch a few documentaries and see how democracy is conducted in the wheelhouse where everything is discussed openly about a plan of action and then agreed upon. Not like the militaristic captains you have obviously come in contact where the Military dictatorships are evident.

There are Laws of the Sea that the Captain of the Sea Shephard doesn't follow. These laws are designed to stop getting people hurt.
I'm not talking about whales here. I also am glad that there are conservation efforts. My particular beef and only beef is against the captain of the Sea Shephard who puts lives at risk unnecessarily. Lives of both his own crew and the "targets".
I don't believe that any seafarer, exempting pirates, deserves to get hurt by one fool disregarding well established laws designed to protect ALL seafarers and taking risks with the lives of his crew.
Just how many have been hurt Mr. Sea farer after decades of Greenpeace and Sea Shepard soc. being stewards of the seas.

Perfectly right. Do a google/images search for underboob and you'll see what I mean. There are several million images, although only a couple of hundred are seen on an iPad (a limit, for some reason). They're all disgusting. Every single one of them. You shouldn't look.
I never looked, peeked or even thought about looking at all but did accidentally land on pages like that almost and immediately turn my head away. Honestly kind of.

What happened to the husband...... just surprised he didn't intervene to defend his wife.
Couldn't stand the sight of her blood.

Personally, I find the 'head in the sand' brigade more annoying than the whiners. There is nothing wrong in seeing a place for what it is, to walk around with blinkers on makes people appear none too clever and somewhat in denial. The author of the article sounds like a bitter person himself, and etiquette is a word usually associated with politeness, so completely misused in the context that he chose for it.
The most miserable expats here are the ones who seem to have no interests. The happiest have at least 3 interests, perhaps 1 sporting and 2 intellectual. And often a full time job on top of that. Too much time on your hands is a big problem. Highest points on the misery index always go to the alcoholics and the old sex-pats. Those two groups just seem to be caught in a nightmare cycle of despair.
Your views are your own for sure but as of this writing I see 7 others agree with you but I am afraid your head is also in the sand.

A lot of the ranters love to attack "the Thai Chinese" and/or "hi-so" and attribute their wealth to being corrupt scammers, etc.
Yet these same ranters have been scammed by their in-laws from Isaan, etc. who are not the "hi-so" Thai Chinese.
Not just ranters but envious ranters, if you ask me...
Seem to recall from years ago that the majority of members claimed to be married to Chinese Thais. In fact declared most were PHDs, champion athletes, beauty queens and company directors.
Not only that but their skins were so white that whitening creams actually made them darker.
As to the bedroom, don't even go there.
Now as to the OP, some good advice there.
Theyre still around, with the my wife is well educated line.
Isn't a Thai University Bachelor of Arts degree considered well educated. Student loans start in Middle school and continue through University to help the family. Thought every girl here has a B.A. or a Masters which is how the salaries are dictated.

If Chinese could behave like civilized people, there would be no need to complain.
Nobody with common sense washes their feet and footwear in wash basins, only them.
Another specialty from the cavemen.
I wash my sandals, flip flops, sneakers, shoes, boots in my sink at Home, but never in a public place and I am not a caveman. Chinese are not th only ones that wash their feet in publc................other cultures dom but I am not mentioning the here.
Muslims before prayer...........

Terrible view you state about your fellow human as Caveman

Don't wash your feet in the sink, but don't mind if we spit in the same sink and piss on the wall in front of your kids.
Don't spit on the floor, but don't mind if we do it.
Don't litter, but don't mind if we litter as if we're all going to die tomorrow.
Don't poop in the moat in Chiang Mai, but... oh never mind, that was one of us. But we're gonna keep saying it was you anyway.
Don't drive your bikes and scooters like idiots, but we'll keep on renting them to you even if you don't know how to drive.
Don't kick our sacred bells at the temple, but don't mind our jet setting monks who smoke yaabaa and hire hookers on temple grounds.
Don't do yoga at our temples, but don't mind us having huge Muay Thai boxing matches at them.
And while we're at it, don't complain when you're attacked by our taxi, tuk tuk and baht bus drivers. Just be thankful we allow you to visit here.
Oh... and you're going to get fined for doing stuff now. It will cost you more to wash your feet in our sink than it does when we murder a tourist. But we're not going to write the signs in Mandarin AND Cantonese right away, or maybe not at all, just to make sure we get ya one more time before you go home.
Enjoy your stay.
Wow You list of grievances sound to me like you need a long visit to your home country for a wake up call.

Should know how to swim......where are the life jackets? This isn't Bangladesh!
Are you for real ? What a disgusting thing to say. I don't think the number one priority of most Myanmar local's is to pay for swimming lessons. Isn't Bangladesh....have you even been to Myanmar ??
WOW/ A Newbie Script policeman joins our ranks to keep our comments inline. Forget it pal 1000's before you have failed to keep the posters and quotes civil.

Video of the Dutchman in handcuffs and being taken away to the police station in the back of a pick up.
One of the Thais punches him in the face several times in the back of the van while handcuffed at 02.05.
Wow that was COLD.... Someone needs to wack that guy who thinks punching someone sitting down handcuffed is in a defensive posture. Such bravery.

So this is what they mean by 'Dutch courage' ?
20 cops to subdue one guy - <deleted> is going on with that ? Little wonder they made themselves very scarce when Tim Ward launched his offensive on the Soi 9 cop shop a month or two back.
The Thais had little courage the Dutch-guy was an idiot. He might have been on drugs or just really drunk some people just can't hold their drinks. I hope he gets punished because that is not the kind of people you want.
Common side affect...Methamphetamine madness. Unusual strength coupled with berserk behavior. 20 cops. Bingo.

Not uncommon for lawyers to receive what is called a BONUS for a successful outcome of a court case or some other litigation.

I know you are looking for something new BUT why not go back to real basics in a restaurant and try this place .. good value good food outside of town .. very busy place :
http://purechiangmai.com/?q=laab-gai-baan-hong
or In town near Mc Cormick hospital .. radna Kang restaurant ... where he nurses eat good traditional food!
Disgusting menu avail-abilities.Placenta's, ant eggs utter nipple . Yeah I am right on that. Any restaurant that serves that kind of food has just barred me from having anything cooked in the same pots or pans.

Hello Nervosa,
Google: Nasi Jumpru. Is a bit out of town on the 1317. Google will show you the precise location. Very good food, each plate made by an artist it seems. Price about 3 to 4 times normal but it is something different.
Good luck
R'tje
That looks good..
Thanks.
I would only believe that the taste would be up to ones own palate and the restaurant's artistry in presentation. I find family cooking meets all my palates needs better than countless restaurants tried.
