Bangkok is one of the only cities in the world where taking a taxi is often cheaper than taking the metro. Bangkok's public transportation network is horrible compared to most other big cities. Try going from Bang Na to the CBD's or airports. -

More expensive light poles? Big business for some. Why not start collecting all the rubbish and plastic along these corridors, plant some trees and have the traffic rules enforced at crossings? -
PTT does indeed offer a good service. Whether other stations are run by Chinese, Thai or Martians is irrelevant of course.
